Great outdoor seating and ample indoor. Fast friendly service. Two beef hard shell tacos, came with chips, salsa and one side of your choice (quac) was my choice. The beef was better than most places. Salsa was good. Chips could use some salt and the guacamole was good. I just wish more places served tacos on a hard fried flat round corn tortilla. We are visiting Birmingham and family recommended Taco Mamas! We ordered the "tailgater" as we needed to feed 10 people. Ordered online and was ready when we arrived. Chicken was very moist and beef was good. Plenty of sides to go along with our meal. Wish we could have ordered additional proteins (either steak/ fish/ shrimp) on the side but could not find that option on website. Only able to add chicken or ground beef. Unfortunately, they forgot the guacamole with our order. My family says this seems to happen fairly often. Portion sizes were larger than expected. We had plenty of left overs for lunch the following day and it was just as good reheated. We ordered margaritas to go with our meal but our order taker didn't seem to understand that we were there to pick up food and wasn't aware where to send us to pick up our food. We did get 2 margaritas (La playa and traditional) both seemed to be a hit with our wives. Prices for what we received seemed fair and food was good. Place was packed at 6:00 by what seemed to be locals, so I'm sure it is a fun place to actually dine in. Ambiance was similar to most Tex/Mex restaurants I have been to. I adore tacos and nachos, but because of dietary restrictions end up having to modify them to the point of them being blah. Enter Taco Mama and their create your own concept. We tried the nachos, the flounder tacos and a shrimp taco. Everything was fairly flavorful with generous portion size. The steak nachos were by far the winner, due to the fact that I could add everything I love to the heaping mountain of chips. Speaking of chips, theirs are a bit too light and airy for me - they didn't stand up to the queso and ended up pretty soggy. But I'd definitely go back next time I crave nachos. I've tried really hard to like taco mama, but I just don't get what all the fuss is about. This is very Americanized, bland food. I've had them in store and catered to several events at my place of employment and everything was just ok. I hear their margaritas are great so I'll have to come try one. The store is decently sized, with ample seating and some tables out front for when the weather is nice. It's usually noisy and crowded, tho, so this is definitely not a place to take someone when you want to have a conversation. This was my first time trying Taco Mama. I'm just going to cut to the chase this place is not good, lacks TONS of flavor and is pretty much a notch above Taco Bell. I really don't see the hype behind this restaurant. I had the flounder taco. The flounder was good but overall the tortilla wasn't heated it came straight out the packet. I can't remember the other taco I had but it was mediocre. The elote was not "elote" in my opinion and also lacked a lot of flavor. Such a GREAT experience at this location!! Everyone had a GREAT attitude! Super fast and efficient. The line was out the door and they were moving people through so quickly and still taking their time with each customer!! it seems so rare and almost unheard of in these times to get great, efficient service with a positive attitude, and to top it off. The food was amazing too!! The breezy open concept allows you to enjoy the outside spring weather in a CLEAN and festive environment!! I went to taco mama last Sunday for a girl's night. this was my first time there & when we arrived I was a little unsure of things. eight women ordering food and drinks at different times from a counter can be a little hectic. the staff there was amazingly friendly, reassuring, happy, and tentative to our every need. after our initial trip to the counter, we never had to return and they made the night so easy for everyone, remembering each and every name and coming around to offer refills. I ordered the judge burrito and had half leftover for lunch the next day. the food was fresh and not fussy. fun atmosphere with the garage doors up and roomier than it appears from the street. a great spot to grab a casual dinner but it is extremely kid-friendly (we may have been the only table there without kids). read more

I really like this place and the value is hard to beat. I've had burritos, tacos, and quesadillas here and all were good. I love the option to build your own because I'm a picky eater when it comes to mexican foods and ingredients. Most menu items come with chips and salsa and also a side item. Chips and salsa are great and I really like the Mac n cheese or the rice for sides. Taco Mama has for a long time been one of my absolute favorites, but now that there is a 119 location I anticipate it truly becoming something akin to home. The first few weeks it was open it was rightfully slammed with patrons, and yet there was always a place to sit and someone to help you if you had a question. They absolutely handled launch time like pros. The menu is the same as other locations and thus still delicious. The servers and wait staff are gracious and professional and the food is delivered fast. You can tell they've really thought through the logistics of restaurant management and it shows. I am excited to have this location of TM so close to work. read more

Similar to their chain of other Taco Mama restaurants, we had a GREAT experience! The food comes out fast. The staff is friendly. Tables inside and out. Family friendly and a good location. I ordered the loaded nachos and could not even finish them. I wish there were more cheese on them, but still, plenty of food. We arrived for a birthday dinner and rounded up 3 tables for our larger than usual group. Everyone didn't get to sit together, but it worked out ok, being a casual experience. They have not implemented online ordering, instead they depend on phone/in person orders. I attempted to place a phone order, but the line was busy. Long lines of people were outside not social distancing, so I didn't not feel safe placing an order in person. Extremely disappointing. A 2 star review because they've had good service in the past.
