My friend and I came here last week because it was open late and had a variety of meat and veggie options and we loved it. First coming in, the customer service was amazing and the staff was friendly and kind to help us. I enjoyed the veggie taco and paneer taco too, but the paneer taco was a little too much lime for me. My friend liked the meat options he had and we liked the free salsas that came alongside the chips given when eating in the restaurant. I love Mexican and Indian fusion so we enjoyed that because it usually means there are vegetarian options. The inside was spacious, good amount of seats and had a clean appearance. Lost one star only because yesterday was the first time I tried a burrito bowl to go, and it was the worst decision I ever ever made. the rice comes really smashed and overcooked and it comes in this weird cardboard box with everything on top of it. It felt soggy. I couldn't eat it. Also, just a heads up when you order online, it says the burrito bowl comes with protein but then when you select your choice of protein, it charges you double so be aware of that . It's safe to say that the tacos are the best thing I've tried there and that's the only thing I will order there from now on. read more

HOW DID WE JUST FIND THIS PLACE?!! Ordered delivery tonight and we couldn't eat our food fast enough, or decide where to start! The guacamole and chips were excellent; we loved the seasoning on the chips. We got two meals: a 2 taco dinner and a 3 taco dinner, figuring we'd try 5 different tacos and see what our favorites were for our next order (both dinners came with beans and rice--beans are served in a corn tortilla boat). Between the two of us our taco flavors were: Chorizo Taco Chingon Taco Signature Taco Shrimp Tempura Taco Al Pastor Taco My husband's favorite taco was the Chingon Taco, my favorite was a tie between the Signature--bacon and steak and pineapple, oh my!!--and Shrimp Tempura--I could coat all my food in that light and crispy batter! The chips and salsa remind me of store-bought chips and salsa. I had the steak fajitas which were gross the steak was tough, overcooked and had no flavor. The sides were decent and made the meat nearly edible. The service was okay. I ordered flour tortillas, got corn instead. Easy swap, no biggie. Ordered. Guacamole with the chips and salsa and they forgot the Guacamole. As for the ambiance of the place, it was on the cleaner side. If given the choice of Taco Maya or a local Mexican restaurant with authentic food, I suggest the authentic route. You will likely get better food for a lower cost. read more

This place is great! It doesn't toe the line of the traditional authentic Mexican restaurant, although it does that part well. The regular steak taco American style is the only thing my father-in-law will eat from a Mexican restaurant and he loves these. But the menu has some crazy options. My go-to is the signature taco. It has a variety of things on it including a house sauce and it is spectacular. Some options sound a little strange, like the paneer taco, the buffalo chicken taco, and the buffalo cauliflower taco. All were excellent and honestly I liked the cauliflower even better than the chicken. They have tasty options at the salsa bar that range from "tickle your tongue" to "better hVe a drink handy." They have a wide variety of taco flavor profiles and are inclusive of pescatarian/vegetarian diets with delicious options for those crowds. Their quesadillas are delicious and take me several sit-downs to finish, making it 3 meals for the price of one! Their chips and guac are more flavorful than most other places I've been to. My favorite salsa of theirs is the salsa verde on the hottest end of the mild-hot spectrum. But they do have some nice milder ones if you're not a spicy person. Service is quick and friendly too. This place is well reviewed for a reason. I've been to their Bloomingdales location a few times before, but this newer Schaumburg one is actually closer to me so I gave them a try. I had the signature taco and the shrimp burrito, both of which were excellent. You expect some different flavors when you read the ingredients incorporated into that taco, and it doesn't disappoint. What surprised me the most was the shrimp burrito. Besides all the great burrito fillers involved, the actual shrimp pieces were large and fresh. It wasn't the mini pieces of generic shrimp that so many other places tend to use (you know what I'm talking about). These shrimp were tasty, and it cannot be cheap to use these in a burrito. The place was bustling. I ordered on-line for pickup and despite the busy hour my food was out to me in no time. Their were several employees really working hard to get the orders out. They were neatly attired and well masked. Even with it being the busy hour, the manager went out of his way for a special request that I had. This place is well managed and organized. Out of curiosity, I took a better look at their website before writing this review because I was curious about this being referred to as "New Mexican". If you want a delicious fusion of fresh Indian and Mexican ingredients on one of the best prepared corn tortillas (they have flour option as well) then this is a must try. We tried the following tacos in order from Very very good to good: 1) Signature 2) Pork Belly 3) El Chingon 4) Chile Relleno 5) Paneer 6) Mahi Mahi. The Mahi was breaded and fried, which isn't my thing but they were good. I like Indian food so I was hesitant to try their Paneer tacos at first but my bro said they're really good. Man they make the recipe work. They even add that Indian mint sauce to it. So good! They also have a salsa bar which has a couple different avocado sauces, as well as habanero, pickled jalapeños and carrots, and several others. My mother in law told me about this spot when we moved up to Elk Grove, and one always needs good recommendations. Although we couldn't enjoy the inside accommodations, (thanks Quarantine), we were able to enjoy the delicious food and lovely customer service! We ordered for pick up and man were they quick! I got to the door and immediately someone greeted me and asked for the name on the order. I'm a little skeptical on pick ups cause you just don't know when the order is ready. But the time that was estimated for pick up was exact. He recognized my order and gave it to me right away. Love it! No wait time! Walked right back to my car and headed home. The food was also delicious! They gave you two options for tacos (American or Mexican). Obviously, I went with Mexican (cilantro and onion). I've never been asked and it's genius! I def know friends who dislike cilantro so this would still give them condiment options. I love how the taco meal came with the rice and beans in a separate container. Everything about it was so good, but the chipotle mayo is what makes all the difference for me. The shrimp tempura taco needs to be a permanent item because it was absolutely delicious! We have been looking for a unique taco place for a long time and this place is absolutely amazing. Can't believe we hadn't discovered this sooner. We luckily tried it on a Tuesday and bought two tacos and got one free. The paneer taco was absolutely amazing. The spicy potato and chili rellano were also awesome. I also tried the chicken Tinga and the Nashville hot chicken. I have to say the Hot chicken was one of my favorite. Of all of the tacos we tried, the paneer would have to be the one seed. In addition to the amazing food, the customer service was excellent. The lady behind the counter was extremely helpful. She explained the sauces that were available and the drinks. The counters were extremely clean and service was very quick for a busy lunch crowd. On top of everything, for $16 we walked out with two drinks, six tacos, and a basket of chips and salsa. That has to be the best meal we have have ever had for under 20 bucks. I came here for dinner FOOD: - I ordered tacos and paneer fajitas. The taco, i took one bite off and spit it out. I immediately had to chug water to not throw up. The taco was about 90% SALT and 10% substance. I was gagging for about a minute afterwards. - The paneer fajita plate is quite delicious. The paneer is packed with flavor and the portion size is very appropriate. I will mention though, the quantity of paneer has gone down since when they began. - The chips and salsa provide a nice premeal snack. I loved how the chips were toasty and warm. They also provide a variety of salsas and I can't commend the Avocado salsa and Salsa verde enough. Both were good. AMBIENCE: - Trendy! The place is very clean. Suitable for adults and kids. - Casual attire. - Ideally this works as sort of a fast food joint, you place order and they deliver dishes at tables. SERVICE: - Unfortunately very very subpar. I kid you not we were waiting over thirty minutes for 2 tacos and a fajita plate. I went up at the 20 minute mark and was told it would take 10 more minutes. We had take out from Taco Maya, between the three of us we ordered the guacamole, esquites, chicken taco salad, cheese enchiladas with red mole, and two tacos. The guacamole took top prize! It was delicious, creamy and full of flavor. We liked the chips too, they are seasoned, but there should be more of them. The esquites were my least favorite. They had too much mayo and the corn was just eh. The cheese enchiladas got a good review, but they didn't hold up to the six minute ride home. They would definitely be better at the restaurant, hot and fresh. They came with Mexican rice and your choice of black or refried beans, it's nice that they give you a choice, we chose black beans. The sides were good. The grilled chicken taco salad was good, but the lettuce was a bit leafy vs. crunchy, which is what would be preferred for a salad like this, but the salad was a good size. Finally, I had a falafel taco, it was smokey and really delicious as well as the chicken tinga taco, another excellent choice. I look forward to returning and dining in for fresher, hotter food. I also love the salsa bar, super fun to be able to try all types of salsas. I believe they had six, my favorite was the mild avocado salsa.
