Located within the Hamilton Lakes business center in Itasca, IL, Besa Mi Taco is a stand alone fast casual dining restaurant serving Mexican American classics. It was located very close to our hotel, so we stopped in for carryout on a Monday for lunch. It was fairly busy, with a lot of workers coming in for lunch during their workday. It is fast casual style, where you place and pay for your order at the front, and then they will deliver it to your table. We ordered carryout, and waited a bit for our food to be expertly packaged. I was half expecting it to come an order of chips, but it didn't. We ordered four platters (a platter consisting of rice and beans). - asada skirt steak taco (2) - $11.49 - it was good meat, no gristle, decent amount of meat. it was topped with very finely shredded lettuce and diced tomato, with double corn tortilla (one can choose flour instead if wanted). The marinade was good. - pastor (2) - $10.49 - it was topped with diced onion and cilantro, Decent meat, OK flavor. - Enchilada Rojas ($11.49) - ground beef, wrapped in a tortilla. It was well prepared and delicious. - Quesa Birria ($11.99) - off menu, coming with two fried corn tortilla, surrounding shredded beef and melted Chihuahua cheese. The two tacos came with plenty of consume to dip. For the price, it was a good value with plenty of tasty shredded beef. Everything was good, especially for the price and the area. read more

Perfectly acceptable Americanized Mexican fare being served here in a fast-casual environment. Came here as our dining options (from a nearby hotel) were limited. We ordered a steak taco in corn tortilla as well as a quesabirria taco platter that came with two tacos, dipping sauce, rice and beans. The tacos were pretty much what you'd expect, but the rice and beans seemed fairly pre-packaged variety. Overall it hit the spot, but not sure it is a place I'd be running back to anytime soon, moreso a place of convenience. read more

Very inviting atmosphere for this casual restaurant where you order your food at the counter then either pick it up from the other side or someone brings it to you on a tray. Plenty of very comfortable seats and friendly service. The shredded chicken taco wasn't good but the pastor (pork) taco with onion and cilantro was SO delicious and tender. The cup of chicken tortilla soup was hearty and different...but so good! I'll be back next time I'm in the area! read more

Yuck do not eat here. Ground beef is horrible. The corn shells were very soft and not crispy at all.

Picked up the shell soup and had no shells. Don't think it was done yet but they still sold it like that. Very disappointed.

The food is always good, the issue is recently they will no longer give you a glass of water. Two of us spent $39 on lunch, including one soft drink. I asked for a glass of water. They used to have small plastic glasses and ice water you could serve yourself, but she said their new policy is they do not give water to anyone I had to buy a bottle of water. I said can't I just get a glass of tapwater we just spent $40 and she said no either you buy a bottle of water or you buy a soda or you buy a mixed drink. I have never in my life been to a restaurant where you could not get a glass of water with your food. Technically it looks like Illinois requires them to provide tap water or provide a water fountain if they are a restaurant that can seat 100 or more people. They have 26 tables that hold four people on each table. They could charge you for the glass, but that is not even an option here. You must buy a bottle of water or another beverage. read more

Best mi Taco was pretty good. I went to lunch with a few coworkers and we all had good food. The service was solid and quick for the amount of people eating in at that time. I ordered a burrito and 2 tacos and the Al pastor was amazing. The steak is seasoned perfectly and not over cooked for once! Please try this place. They have a huge variety of food and different options. Reason why it didn't get a 5th star..... the pricing is a little high. $3 tacos, $10 taco dinner and it only comes with 2 tacos. Gone way downhill. Food super expensive for small portions .. quality not great. People in drive thru are sassy as all get out. Increased most things on menu 30-40% in price over the last 2 years. Used to eat here 1-2 times a week and now it's just not worth it. Like to support small and local businesses but not when you get robbed. read more

Local place that never disappoints. The burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and enchiladas are top-notch. The chicken tortilla soup is a personal favorite. Their salsas are all pretty amazing. Honestly, I love this place. Years ago, it used to be meh, so I was surprised it was still standing years after I came back from living out of state. Since then, I've been coming here pretty regularly because the food, not to mention the service, is awesome. I love their daily deals, but I'm also enticed by their nachos, tortas, and fish tacos. My boyfriend is also a fan of their quesadillas. Let's also not forget their fried ice cream. SO GOOD. Ok, I am officially a Mexican food snob. As I walked into this place the expectations lowered dramatically. Hey, my general thought WAS that it is impossible to get authentic meals from any establishment with English on the menu. Beso Mi Taco has completely changed that perspective. I recommend their tacos. Everything else needs improvement in terms of seasoning and taste, specially becuase is a bit pricey. The staff is always friendly. Wierd combinations too, that wont have me coming back. for instance, chicken grilled burrito bowl is just lettuce, tomatoes, corn, and few grains of black beans, and around 6oz of grilled chicken. I give this place 5 stars. Not because it's the best Mexican food I've ever had, but because it's good, slightly better than expected honestly. I'm newer to the area and have ate at numerous Mexican restaurants only to be severely disappointed. But this place is surprisingly pretty good. It was a Thursday afternoon and I asked the ladies in the office if they wanted to order in some lunch. We tossed around a few regular places and one of the women suggested "that Mexican place near Arlington Heights Rd and Devon". I knew exactly what she was talking about: Besa Mi Taco!! My sister goes there regularly and loves it. Let's try it. One of the ladies I work with immediately said she has been there and it NOT a fan. I could not figure out why knowing how much my sis frequents it, so we ended up ordered from here just the two of us to give it a shot. Sure enough, I loved it. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and a taco al pastor and loved every bite. The chicken they used for the quesadilla was grilled white meat chicken breast cubed up. Flour or corn tortillas- your choice. My one and only complaint for take-out is they put lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole in the same container as the quesadilla and sadly, the lettuce and tomatoes being water-based veggies, can make the tortilla a bit on the soggy side, but if this is my only complaint...we found a winner! I have since returned a few times, once more doing take-out via the drive thru which is really not their forte. The drive thru should only really be for pick up orders. They do not cook fast enough to have you place an order and get it at the window. I think I was in the drive thru for at least 10-15 minutes. The most recent visits have been to dine in and dining in is typically pretty good. Fountain drinks so you can refill before you hit the road. Clean dining room and a salsa bar! Who doesn't like that. All you can eat Salsa. The taco al pastor was sadly, a little cold. The meat is obviously pre-made and that's fine, but they needed to heat it a little more before serving. I didn't complain because of the time crunch, but next time, I will be sure to point out that my last taco was not very hot. The quesadilla seems to be my go-to dish here and even by itself, is enough to make a meal off of. I have no complaints about the potions at all. They put plenty of meat in their tacos. They always forget something from my order and then they won't let me use my card again and tell me I have to pay cash because of a minimal order purchase. I almost never have cash on me so I'm supposed to go home without All my food? I think if they mess up they should have to wave that and let you use your card. Beware! The first and last time I went to Besa Mi Taco was several years ago. At the time, I was not impressed and never went back But, today I was craving a Burrito and didn't want to drive anywhere. Besa Mi Taco is in the same lot that the building I work in is located, so I decided to give them another try. This time, I simply went there to order Steak Burrito to take back to the office. It was around 1PM and there were not too many patrons. The restaurant has the look and feel of a chain Mexican/Tex Mex place. They have a fairly typical menu consisting of tacos, burritos, enchiladas, tortas, and tamales. They also offer food for "gringos" and salads. I seem to recall that the last time I was here I ordered tacos, thinking they would be the best since they are in the name of the restaurant. Since I ordered a burrito, I can't say whether or not they were better than last time. However, the burrito was not bad. There was a healthy portion of steak, tender and tasty. The beans were good, and the lettuce and tomato were fresh. One thing I do recall I liked last time were their salsas. I had the spicy red salsa today and it was very good. They grilled the burrito, a touch that I like. But, the tortilla itself was a little doughy. Overall, the burrito was not the best I've ever had, buut it was far from the worst. All in all, not too bad. The servers were pleasant and helpful. The place itself looked clean. One thing that sets them apart from other "fast food" tex-mex restaurants is they offer Frozen Margaritas in several flavors. Too bad this was lunch in the middle of the workday. I've been going to besa mi taco for sometime now for lunch. The food is pretty good, I usually order their steak taco salad, of a light crispy taco shell with tons of chopped Romain lettuce, shredded cheese, black olives, and red onions topped with grilled steak, slices of avocado, and sour cream. You can also have salad dressing but I tend to opt that out. I also had their corn or flour tacos, and their combo meal of their cheesy enchiladas with ground chicken, ground beef or cheese that comes with rice and refried beans. I don't care much of their serving plates which are thin black plastic plates with plastic utensils. If you asked for water they do have two types of watering dispensers, one is plain with ice the other is with slices of limes and lemons. Drinks are your typical soda or you could actually have a frozen margarita or beer. There is a fresh salsa bar that you can get as much mild or spicy salsa as you'd like. It's great with their warm crispy chips sold separately. Their guacamole is pretty good as well. The food is somewhat authentic but the price can be a little steep for the amount of food you get. It's not your typical divey Mexican restaurant. To order your meal you would go up to the counter and they would call out your number. This place also takes "Belly" accounts if you have one to build up food points for free food:) Inside has plenty of seating whether you want to sit in a booth or grab a table and put them together for a bigger party. We have allergies in our home, we have been communicating with people about these allergies for decades. We are not confused. Besa Mia and their managers are apparently though. 1 phone call and one answer, another phone call and a different answer. Their answer to their incompetence? "You must have misunderstood" It is disrespectful to always assume that someone else doesn't understand, when apparently you have trouble with communicating. Ok so I was in Itasca, IL this week for work, and decided to try this place for dinner one night, despite the reviews I had already seen from Jonathan K. LoL! (Which almost made me change my mind might I add....)...... So I ordered a taco platter which was just okay.....it was pretty bland as mentioned in other reviews. I would say the best part of the meal was the frozen margarita I had, and the "salsa"bar.....the salsa was very good. It fulfills the taco itch, so to speak. I found the taco platter to be two large tacos (larger than authentic Mexican, in my opinion) and I got extra rice and no beans.
