a spontaneous road trip took my lady and i to phoenix AZ. my cousin accommodated us famously. i also found out that she and i were raised in two very different households yet we are both food motivated. that said, "i'll take the physical challenge" became this trips mantra. we were given strict orders by my cuz to integrate taco mio into the meals of the day. "get the chilie verde burrito." well, i also ordered taquitos, french fries (fries are a must on road trips!) and of course chips and salsa. to go. had the pooch i8n the car and was a wee bit hot to leave him for a meal. the server was friendly, attentive and the dear was old enough to be my mother. what a little podunk of a hole in the wall. the cook in the back was wearing a short sleeved button down plaid shirt. the food was good. it may have tasted even better had i not been so stuffed from the huge breakfast, enjoyed just hours before. but the orders were taco mio on the way home. it was not negotiable. they were orders. it may have scored higher stars had it been easy to eat in the car. would i go again/ sure, if i found myself hungry in quartzsite. the drive through the city was almost worth the entire trip. the scenery was fabulous. read more

I have to agree with several people on this place. We are from So Cal so we are a little spoiled by the many choices we have so I gave them 2 stars for that they are located in Quartzsite Az and not much to choice from, and they know it $2 for a small basket of chips and the smallest chile rellano I have ever had. My husband had the chile verde plate it was all sauce with maybe 5 small pieces of pork. Our check came to $32 for lunch with 2 bud lights. I would say that when you come to Quartzsite for the shows be prepared to pay because the businesses here seem to be charging for all things they can while they have you here. read more

My review of Taco Mio has improved since I posted it yesterday, and I do have a comparison. I mentioned that another Mexican eatery, La Casa del Rancho, was nearby, and I would check it out. Today I did. Ordered the same two beef and cheese enchiladas as take-out. Beef in this duo was ground (vs. shredded at Taco Mio), and there was a lot more of it. Shredded is better, but quantity is nice. Cost of two enchiladas at La Casa was just under 10 bucks. I had to ask for salsa. Cost of two enchiladas and a Negra Modelo suds at Taco Mio was just over 10 bucks. La Casa doesn't have a liquor license, so you can't get suds, margaritas, etc., there. Since I did take-out, the liquor isn't a big issue, but it would have been nice to sip on an NM while waiting. At 1:30 p.m. the place had only four other diners, so a wait time of 20 minutes seemed a bit lengthy. La Casa -- big issue-- also does not accept credit or debit cards...only cash or personal checks. All told, if dining in, I'd now opt for Taco Mio (new-found RV neighbors said the same). Wait staff at La Casa were friendlier. I'm sure all of this could change as January/February roll around, and RVers take total control of the town. read more

What a great place to have fish and chips. When arriving you will stand in line to place your order at the counter. You then sit down with a number and wait for your food. The line will be long, but it moves really fast and you'll also get your food fast as well. I had the fish and chips. It comes in 3 sizes: 1,2, or 3 pieces. The 3 piece being the all-you-can-eat option. Unless you have an appetite of a Clydesdale horse, order the one piece. The fish fillets are huge and the fries are plentiful. The fish is bass according to the waitress and fried with a panko type coating. Everyone at the table loved their fish, but me. So why the five stars, you ask. The fish was beautifully cooked, as were the fries. The restaurant was clean, the wait staff engaged and friendly. I won't fault a good restaurant with high quality food simple because I prefer battered fish and chips. read more

While the food was awful, it surely wasn't good. The food was obviously cooked sometime in the last couple weeks and "microwaved to order." They don't take credit cards; cash only. There was a hair in my food. The only good thing I can say is that they obviously made the salsa from scratch -- and they actually had "hot" salsa. Sorry Taco Mio, you got to step it up a notch and put some effort into your food. Would give no star if possible. Has to be the worst Mexican food, or any food for that matter, that I have had in the year traveling four states. Had the relleno/carnitas taco combination. Rellleno & refried beans could have been sitting around for a week. Small tasteless portions which was probably a good thing because I was hit with a bout of diarrhea and cramps less than 2 hours later.That said the waitress was very attentive pleasant and apologetic for the lack of guacamole (that she suggested) Seriously, do NOT eat here - you will regret it. read more

We came here two times last year and wasn't pleased at all. We read reviews this year and decided to give it a try. Husband ordered beef chimichanga and it was filled with runny beans and very little meat. Portion size was small and when they forgot his beans they put them on a full size plate and brought it to him, a spoonful on a plate. He was disappointed in his meal. I ordered a chicken burrito and with the sour cream and chip salsa I poured over the top, it was fine. I'm sure we won't return. read more

The food was pretty tasty. The salsa was good. You have to stand in line to order and find a table. The portions are extremely small for the price that you pay. I've never seen such a tiny chile relleno or taco in a Mexican restaurant. I would not go back. It's way too expensive for what you get. read more

Best Mexican we've had in years-ate here on 11/10/14 & had a great lunch! I had the burrito supreme and my wife had the chicken quesadia. The burrito was huge & served dry, the way they should be, and not swimming in a pool of cheesy glop-perfect! And unlike the reviewer below, which my wife suggested could be a disgrunteled employee, it was fine. Totally unfair to claim food poisening unless you're absolutely sure-as a former restaurant owner, I know that's a serious charge! The quesadia was a bit bland, but you can ask for additional veggies as add-ons, which was all it really needed. The server was a sweetheart-she went overboard to accomodate us, and we enjoyed our conversations with her. Being a local, she gave us a number of tips about the local area, and loaded us up with containers of all their sauces to go with our leftovers. We will be back, and more than once! read more

We happened to stop at Taco Mio on our way back from Sedona. Didn't expect too much but amazingly, one of the best Chile Rellenos I have ever had; and I've had lots! The rice and beans were excellent too. I can't vouch for anything, but I'll definitely be back for the relleno. read more

We found our new pit-stop in Quarzite!! This little restaurant is homey just like grandma's house, and the food is amazing. We ordered the breakfast burrito which was excellent: scrambled eggs, beans, cheese, and potatoes cooked just right. We also ordered a bean and cheese burrito and fish taco. The fish taco was delicious, albeit not the healthiest: deep friend corn tortilla loaded with tartar sauce, fried fish, and coleslaw. Great but not great for you... Overall: inexpensive, great tasting food with quick and friendly service. We'll be back! read more

I write reviews based on my experience. Taco Mio is and has always been a truly horrible dining experience. On any given night they will be out of pork, steak, and guacamole. They could run to Wal-Mart in Parker to pick this stuff up but won't. The service is never ever good. The one waitress they have walks or rides her bike around town in her socks. It's not that it is in a small town that makes this a terrible restaurant. It's that it is the only Mexican restaurant within almost 35 miles that could do so much more and have guests year round but they choose not to. The owners thought is simply, " Where else are you going to go if you want Mexican." They don't care. read more
