Extraordinary Service Makes Taco Ocho Shine! You know a place is special when the people behind the counter make your day, and that's exactly what you'll find at Taco Ocho. I'm often there for breakfast / deliveries, and I've consistently been impressed by who I believe is the manager. She embody what a great "face of the company" should be: so kind, always smiling, and just radiating happiness. Their commitment to extraordinary customer service makes every single interaction a truly pleasant one. It's rare to find such consistent warmth and genuine friendliness, and it really elevates the whole experience. Come for the tacos, stay for the amazing people!

Adriana was my hostess and server and she made the experience extra great. She was quick and she suggested the green salsa which I'm now recommending to whoever is reading this. This is a nice, casual spot that would be good for a group or solo, like me today. They've got solid AC in here for those hot, summer days. The food was good! Let me just start with a big, Thank you for being so vegan friendly!!! There were more than half a dozen vegan choices. Creative menu items too, not just tacos although the tacos alone are worth stopping for. Very pleased with the meal and the experience here.

It's been five years since I first came here and a little disappointed in the restaurant now. I ordered the 2 taco special of shrimp and brisket which were good. Like every restaurant now it was a bit expensive and the waitress really had no clue what was on the menu including if the margaritas could be ordered frozen or on the rocks. Not bad but also not great for the $$ you spend for what you get.

Okay so oddly enough, this was my second time here on a whim in a city I don't live anywhere near. Last summer, we visited Dallas on family vacay and navigated to First Watch (our go to breakfast spot). When we pulled up and I realized there was a Mexican restaurant in the same parking lot where I could get a breakfast I would prefer, I made a bee line to Taco Ocho and told my family to eat whatever they wanted! Today, me and hubby are back in town on a quick trip to celebrate a friend who lives locally. Per the usual, we set the GPS to the nearest First Watch in route to the airport. When we pulled in and I saw Taco Ocho, I told him "look! We're back at the same one. Never mind our first plan, let's eat tacos!!" As with our first experience, we were greeted warmly and able to have our choice of seats. The food came fast and fresh. The service was mostly attentive. So here's what we had: Hubby ate two brisket tacos on a two taco breakfast plate (making it a plate adds the rice and beans). He was careful to order it with no cheese or sour cream. Our server repeated that back to him as "no dairy, got it!" ...then his plate came with cheese on the tacos and the beans. Since he's not allergic, he decided not to send it back. He is, however allergic to avocado and didn't notice it came on top of the brisket tacos. Since they were sizeable slices, he picked them off (placing them on my plate because I love avocado) and scraped off any little bits left behind. He then announced to me "I guess we're about to see how allergic I really am!" before biting in. [Spoiler alert: he had no reaction ] He said the brisket was tender but needed more seasoning; the rice was flavorful but maybe too salty; and the beans were good (what little he ate, eating around the cheese). I had a Matador (Brisket Breakfast Taco), a Polanco (breakfast taco), and a tostado. Tacos were both good but needed salt, so I added some of hubby's rice and that dressed them right up! I ended up not eating my tostado, realizing after biting in that the flavors were ones I didn't want at breakfast. The chips and salsa were perfect! Chips was well salted, which I like. I'd clearly come here again.

OK, its been too long but we did get back. Meeting in area so very good excuse to stop here for lunch beforehand. See photos of food and interior.

Migas platter. Available on the weekend brunch menu for $9.99.

Taco Ocho did a good job of filling our hungry bellies on a cold weekend morning. My companions had breakfast tacos. I splurged with the Migas platter. The $9.99 price a bit steep, but there was enough food to feed 1.5 of us: a large helping of tortilla strips scrambled with eggs, chorizo, pico de gallo, Oaxaca cheese, cilantro, cotija cheese and served with black beans, Yucatan potatoes, two flour tortillas plus two kinds of salsas. My dish arrived on the lukewarm side unfortunately. Everything was tasty enough, but I prefer hot food to be served hot. This place was really clean, and the staff seemed friendly. Requests for extra salsa were readily accommodated. Plenty of parking available.

We ordered corned beef hash skillet with pancakes, south border skillet, biscuits gravy with eggs and pancakes. The corned beef hash skillet gets a high mark. The south border skillet was average. The biscuits gravy with eggs and pancakes were cold and it gets a low mark. If we decide to eat at Honey Berry in the future, it will be the Frankford Rd location.

Our server had a scowl on her face from the moment she came to the table. (Long dark ponytail) It was 12:30pm & it was not busy (breakfast rush was over.) We had to get up three times to ask for things, our toast & pancakes, napkins, coffee. The three servers working were standing at the front counter talking away with each other our server, at one point, was talking on her cell phone. The food quality has gone down in recent months. Eggs were nice & hot, hash browns were cold, bacon had been good in the past, but our past two visits the bacon has tasted burnt & it has an odd flavor. Toast was over cooked, not buttered, it was not edible. The last time our coffee was refilled was by a man that looked like he had just come out of the kitchen. He was very nice & we were grateful that our coffee was being refilled without having to get up and ask for it. The servers were still lolly gagging behind the counter while the gentleman was refilling our coffee. I have worked in the restaurant business from being a server & also in management. Sweet, funny, great at banter, and incredibly attentive. Even when she was busy, she never made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. When she was at our table, we had her full attention, she checked on us the perfect amount, and we never had to ask for anything twice. She was on top of her game! My only complaint was a really awkward interaction at the end. I wanted to ask Staci two simple questions: whether they carried an olive gin I'd had in Europe (they didn't, but I haven't found it anywhere) and whether I could buy a roll of quarters because we were going to play pool. Somehow this turned into 5-6 staff members gathering around, plus this random blonde lady in a white T-shirt and jeans joining the conversation. Aside from Staci and the blonde lady, no one else even acknowledged me. They just stood there looking at me. It was weird. It felt like a lot of unnecessary attention over two simple questions and made me pretty uncomfortable. Having another customer involved was honestly the weirdest part. It was disappointing because we'd had such a great experience up until then. I went from thinking, "I need to bring my friends here!" to leaving feeling pretty unwelcome. Food: delicious. Atmosphere: beautiful. Prices: great. Staci: WONDERFUL. I just wish the interaction at the end had matched the rest of the experience. I changed my rating from two stars to four stars because I didn't feel like one bad interaction was worth two stars and I was a little flustered when I originally wrote my review.
