The fajita steak is not like restaurant fajitas. My kids will not touch it. I don't know what type of steak cut they use but it tastes and feels like fake meat. It's like slimy and super thin cut. Also the 2 times I've been here we have such an issue communicating. The menu says savory beans, I asked if the fajitas come with refried beans and they charged me for more beans before I corrected them. I also tried ordering a chicken breast taco as labeled on the menu and they had no idea what I was asking for. They got help, then said ohhh a pollo somthing taco. I'm literally reading the menu and it says verbatim what I asked for so I don't k ow why I'm the issue. When I'm working, I try to eat quickly. I left Dripping Springs; made my way to Hutto via the toll road. Dropped off the supplies needed and headed south on the same route. Food needed; next stop lunch. I saw this Taco Palenque going north and since it was a quick off and on I chose it as my stop. No counter service which is OK with me. I ordered the most EXPENSIVE plate of food on the menu and a drink. $23. Grab some chips, salsas, and my drink. Snacking while my food is prepared. Another persons order comes out. They can't find him at the same table they just served food to. Can't read numbers on the tents? My food comes to the table and I say thanks. I try to eat fast folks as I was due in Buda for a truck thing. One Enchilada, Crispy Taco, Beef Fajita, Guacamole, Rice and Beans. Except after I started eating I realized no guac. I walked to the counter and ask for my missing item. Well, I finished my plate and it never showed up. I walk back towards the counter with my plate ready to go into the trash. They see my sad face and another employee asks what's wrong. Shocked that there was any language barrier; I mean Guacamole. She then asked me what my ticket # was. No clue; selected no receipt when I ordered. Recap, not that hard to serve this cuisine on one plate. Food is NOT worth nearly double what Taco Cabana charges for basically the same plate. Taco Tuesday calls for tacos! My first visit to this spot and I ordered breakfast tacos. They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but they forgot to specify tacos. No lines! Drove right up to the drive thru and ordered the Chicharron taco and barbacoa taco. I asked for the spiciest salsa and they definitely came through with the spice. Service was quick via the drive thru. Tacos come with two tortillas and they are not shy with the helping of meat. Tacos were full of flavor. Meat was tender. Tortillas were delicious. What I really love about Taco Palenque is their quality. They have a lot of different options on their menu from soups, to tacos, nachos (or panchos their nickname) and enchiladas. My favorite items are their piratas. You get 2 flour tortillas with refried beans and beef fajitas. You're able to add free sauces. They have a delicious avocado salsa and my next favorite is the tatemada (which is like a grilled salsa). The service is very fast and they offer a drive thru! You don't have to get out of your car to get fast, delicious and quality Mexican food! read more

This taco place is absolutely great! Every time we come, it is clean inside. Ordering is pretty easy and the staff has always been so very friendly and helpful. I absolutely love, love, love the salsa bar! It acts a little bit like a build your own taco bar, as well, because it has a variety of toppings and not just salsas. Everything we've ordered has always been delicious and fresh. We've tried several of their breakfast tacos and non-breakfast tacos. All have been great. Some tacos come with double tortillas and some don't, but I haven't been able to figure out when to expect that versus when to not. I love the variety offered. Haven't been to restaurant so my review is solely for delivery to my house. Ordering- I like that their sides are not overpriced. Some places turn me off with $12 guacamole 'salad' that I know will be mostly lettuce. Also easy to tack on salsa options to your entree order. Food: tasty. First delivery was yummier than second time. I like that they put rice and beans in little containers inside main container. Beans don't get all dried out and thick. Rice is good. I also like that they send the chips warm and inside a plastic bag inside the paper one. What I don't eat can be sealed up and stays fresher longer. Both times I did crispy tacos as I am a creature of habit. Amazing? No. But exactly as I expected and what I was craving. I have made a study of the nearby places that offer crispy tacos (I know where to go for queso and damn good tacos that are soft). Many places charge $$$ for their sides of guac and when I get order - the rice is meh and the beans seem thick and dry. Like sitting under a heat lamp or on the stove for too long. My lady and I have been nearly addicted to Taco Palenque ever since this new location in Hutto opened. The Buy 1, Get 1 Burrito deal is a steal, and the inclusion of the sauces is a bonus. The food is always hot when picked up, utilizes fresh ingredients, and is delicious. You get the bang for your buck! Not only is the food wonderful and well worth every penny, but the staff is a delight, as well. Mario, the manager of this location, always greets customers with a smile and genuine enthusiasm. They will go above and beyond for you, as well. Recently, my lady had to back out of the page of the ordering screen she was on, and it took her to the location screen. We didn't realize until we were at the restaurant to pick up the food that the wrong location had been selected when she went back in to order. Mario was not concerned about it being the wrong location and had the staff put together the same order. This was an amazing thing to do, and it was able to be done because apparently it is the same person who owns the Round Rock and Hutto locations. Mario is always a delight. This is actually my second time coming here just this morning. I genuinely love this place it's one of my favorite spots for breakfast, and I usually have a great experience. But I have to be honest: the past two times I've come, my food has been cold. I was really excited to see a New Mexican food place opening up. I went up today for the first time, and I hate to report this place did not meet expectations. Got three tacos (beef) each was different quality and make. For example one had been and the others didn't. The meet was watery and flavorless. Shells were good but that was about it. Had the chicken quesadilla which tasted good but the cheese was oddly stretchy but it tasted good but very greasy. We did drive through so this review is solely on the drive thru service and food. The service was fine. They weren't nice, but they weren't rude. There was a long line, but they were just busy. The wait to actually order was the longest. We got our food within about 5 minutes of ordering, but by the time I was done ordering there were no cars waiting for their food. My major complaint was the price and the food. The menu made everything look good and authentic, so I figured that was why the prices were quite high. In reality the food left everyone wanting more(not in a good way). We ordered a quesadilla. I figured with the picture and for the price it would be the size of a full tortilla, nope. We paid over $4 for one tortilla folded in half with cheese, grease, and a queasy stomach. The beans lacked basic spices, the street tacos were fine, but had large chunks of fat. The carne guisada was so messy that it was leaking through the foil and it had little to no flavor. We ordered enough food for 3 people but no one was satisfied. We were excited to try this new establishment, but we will not be returning after the major let down. read more

The service is always good here. Friendly workers. The salsa bar is wonderful. The reason I can only give a 3 star is due to the skimpy portions of protein in pretty much everything they make.
