As of my review the collective average is 4.5 stars and I'll go with the lower end of that. Pros - great selection of vegan items. Most taste good, not great. Standouts for us were the Chorizo, Lentils Al Pastor, and they had an empenada special that was quite good. Outdoor seating during covid. Cons / meh - Nachos, just not that great and pricey for what you get, Tofu Taco, also a letdown, cookie good/not great. Location in Ball Square isn't the easiest to get to esspecially lately. Vegan tacos!! I brought my non-vegan friend out here to try some vegan tacos for the first time and we loved everything we ordered. The food isn't overpriced (it actually feels on the lower end of the price scale for Boston food) and it's so good. We each got two tacos and a side. I ordered the tofu tacos and while they were good, they definitely weren't mind blowing (read: don't come here if you want authentic Mexican tacos). There isn't a huge selection of choices, and I've definitely had better vegan tacos in the past. The texture of the tofu was PERFECT, but I didn't taste much flavor at all. The cream sauce was pretty bland, and the tofu by itself was unseasoned. The lettuce reminded me of Taco Bell lettuce (not sure if it wasn't fresh or if I was just distracted by the lack of flavor in the other ingredients). Also, the prices are a little high considering what you're getting. All that being said, I would come here again if I had a friend who really wanted to go, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, nor would I really recommend it to anyone in the area. read more

I had a sudden taco craving and was in the mood to see if vegan tacos could be good. I am a pescatarian so I am used to not eating meat but I was once a meat lover, and I did not miss meat whatsoever while dining here. It's a small place where you order and pay before you get your food, and seat yourself on one of the few communal tables or the bar facing the window/street. I went at like 3 pm on a Sunday, there were two other couples in at that time, and it took about 10 min to get my food. Pretty fair. I ordered the fried tofu taco, the jackfruit tinga taco, and the chorizo taco. They all were wrapped in corn tortillas which I greatly appreciated because I am a taco snob and only eat tacos that come in corn tortillas. They all were bursting with flavor and Taco Party definitely doesn't skimp on giving you all the food and more that you pay for. I was STUFFED. I definitely didn't need 3 tacos and the side but I wanted a decent sampling of the menu. (You can get a 2 taco + side combo meal for ~$11). My favorite was probably the fried tofu taco, it was super super crispy and savory, and the slaw and sauces were really complimentary. The chorizo was a close second, it has a little kick and is pretty convincing of real chorizo. The jackfruit taco was okay, lacking a little firmness, but this was my first jackfruit-in-place-of-meat experience so maybe it's just not for me. The smoky rice and beans were pretty solid- the rice had some good tomato-y/spiced flavor, the beans were indeed smoky. Overall, if you have a taco craving and are in the area, this place is definitely worth a try for carnivores and vegans alike. I promise you won't miss meat eating here! read more

I dream about this vegan paradise. Their nachos are better than any I've had anywhere. I tried their tacos for the first time out of their taco truck and was so excited when they opened this location. I usually get the nachos but the fried tofu taco is a close second. The biggest challenge I end up having is deciding what food to try off the menu when I want all of it. Oh and their dessert is also crave-worthy. Taco Party is my new neighborhood go-to. Not because it's great meatless food, but because it's great food in general. And to learn that they've teamed up with Sabertooth Vegan Bakery? I couldn't be more thrilled! We first had a sampling of Taco Party at Nighshift Brewing in Everett a few months ago and I've kept thinking about it since. The second I heard they were opening a shop in my neighborhood, I ran over the next day and was met with the same great tacos I remembered. The shop is small but colorful and full of personality. Nothing beats a great, filling, tacos lunch at under $10. I come from California, the land of easy to find and amazing vegan, vegetarian, anything you can dream of food, and these could easily hold their own with the best Mexican hot spots in San Francisco. The menu here is perfectly small but never boring. I like to mix and match various taco styles since I don't have any dietary restrictions, but there are gluten-free options for those that have that concern. The regulars fillings are Chorozo Seitan, Chimichurri Tempeh, Fried Tofu, Sriracha BBQ Jackfruit, and today I saw something with Portobello.... regardless, I never met a taco here that I didn't like. I usually don't like tempeh at all and find it to be dry and crumbly, but I tried it today and to no surprise, my opinion has changed. You certainly don't have to be vegan or vegetarian to like these tacos regardless of what's in them. It's easy to forget there wasn't meat in there to begin with really. The guac, which appears to be on the plain side with no tomatoes in sight, is flavorful, bright, and delicious. Taco Party has also teamed up with Sabertooth Vegan Bakery at this storefront, which leaves you with killer donuts, cupcakes, cookies and more to finish off your meal or to take on the go. Sabertooth's owner, Evie, is really knocking it out of the park with her creations. We shared a mini Horchata donut (GF/Soy-Free) and a Peanut Butter Choco Chip after lunch and wow! Both were tender, moist and pillowy, without being overly sugary and too sweet. This evening I'm thinking, "I wonder how that Rootbeer donut tastes. And what about the Lemon Poppyseed cookie? Or the Hibiscus donut? And the coconut?" I just want more! Just as we were about the leave for the day, the store filled up with people and I was so happy to see this business embraced by the neighborhood as they should be. I'm not surprised. With food this good, the crowds will keep coming. Stop by and give them some love! If you're curious about either business, walk through that door and try both. While the combo of Mexican tacos and donuts doesn't immediately bring about those thoughts of magical food bliss, it really is a match made in heaven. Stopped by here recently and was excited to see a taco spot I hadn't been to! I went inside and looked over the menu and quickly realized everything on it was vegan. Now I enjoy vegetarian dishes regularly but I would really have preferred there to be some way to tell that I was going into a vegan restaurant. I was starving and really craving traditional tacos with cheese and meat! I had 2 tacos that were not cheap and didn't fill me up. They were pretty tasty for what they were but just not what I was expecting. When I went back to my office, two other people told me they did the exact same thing and felt like they had to order once they were standing at the counter. Other vegetarian restaurants usually make it known before you enter such as Veggie Galaxy or Life Alive. I suggest they put it on their main sign so as not to disappoint unsuspecting customers. read more

Is it weird that I like everything but the tacos? Big fan of their nachos. In fact my favorite nachos ever, vegan or otherwise. I've tried and failed to replicate that delicious vegan cheese sauce at home, but this place absolutely kills it. The tofu tortas is delicious and crunchy. I don't usually eat Vegan, but I honestly couldn't tell the difference. The flavors were great, and I didn't feel like I was eating Vegan. I got the Fried Tofu taco and the Chorizo Seitan taco.. they were AWESOME! The tofu was fried in such a way that I forgot it was fried tofu. The lettuce and sauce and topping had a big part in that. The chorizo seitan had the perfect amount of spice (which is a little more than what normal people like since I like things spicy). I put some of my guacamole in there and it was perfect! The flavors were right on, and kept me wanting more. But the $10 meal of two tacos and chips was definitely filling. It was a solid, and flavorful meal. I would definitely go again! read more

First time to this restaurant, the service is rude and Looks like a fast food restaurant, if you don't know you need to tip, the waitress will slam the food on the table and won't give you cutlery. You order at the counter and you have to tip before you get the food and service. Very disappointed, what a terrible place. While waiting for the food I was thinking of tipping cash at the end of the meal. But then the cashier waitress deliberately and rudely threw the food on the table with no communication and no cutlery to express her dissatisfaction. What is the point of tipping? Thank you so much for being rude to us? The food is not as good as the reviews say, I just came here to try it because of the good reviews. The food was horrible and the sauce tasted weird. Won't go again, waste of money, bad food and will make you feel bad. This is the worst restaurant I have ever come across! read more

I give these tacos 4 stars because I probably ordered them wrong. I got the Tempe Tantrum and Santanthony's Feast and both were packed with fresh flavor. Although, there were two downsides: 1) I ordered them sans toppings or cheese (both dairy and vegan cheese available) and they were a bit dry. Some simple salsa would fix them easily. 2) Since the per-taco serving was so large, they included 2 taco shells. Don't get me wrong the tortilla is fresh but it muted the taco taste a bit. I used to hit up the Taco Party food truck whenever I would see it around town and was quite pleased when they finally opened up a shop. I think the food is better now that they have an actual restaurant. In addition to some creative vegan taco options, they also have some traditional mexican dishes (beans/rice, chips/guac) as well as some home made desserts, including vegan cannoli's. I would recommend going there on an empty stomach and then filling it with delicious vegan tacos. I've brought non veg friends there and they loved it. I am so grateful this place is still alive and kicking. So many nearby joints didn't even live through the bridge construction that disrupted the traffic pattern on Broadway for months and months. Then the Covid pandemic wiped out even more. I've picked up takeaway plates three times in the past six weeks and every bite reminded me of the old days and gives me hope for the future. That sounds like a lot, but no, seriously. The crispy breaded tofu tacos are the perfect melding of tastes and textures. The chorizo seitan, also good. Two tacos and a salad makes a great plate deal, perfectly filling, and no animals are harmed at this party. When I swung by last week, I saw they're opening a bar area in the space next door. I personally am still a bit nervous for even outdoor dining, let alone indoor. But it's nice to get signals that Taco Party is looking forward to a future. Taco Party, you are my life now. Seriously, I finished my first Taco Party meal and immediately felt compelled to write a review. I'm vegetarian, but do try to eat vegan when I can. As a student, that can be hard sometimes. I was walking back from class and saw this magnificent truck and knew immediately that I needed to try it. They come by Chinatown every Friday from 11:30-2, which is super conveniently near Emerson's campus. LOVE. The tacos are amazing. I had the sweet potato taco and the tofu taco with a side of rice and beans. I don't even know how to describe them- they're so texturally intricate and unique. For $10, this was pretty much the best food truck meal ever. The brown rice was cooked perfectly, and the beans had that smoky taste that we vegetarians are so often deprived of. I forgot I was eating a vegan meal, because their garlic crema and sauces were so substantial. I'll definitely be coming back. I feel an addiction forming. They gave me a sticker. They have vegan cookies, which I have yet to try. I'll probably be back next Friday. :) read more

The boyf is vegetarian some days of the week because of religious purposes and so I've been trying to find places around the 'ville that do not involve Chipotle. We've always passed by this place and the boyf was craving Chipotle and I was like no! So Taco Party it was. Super friendly, super helpful staff. There were 3 tables that fit 4 each and then there was a bench table along the store front. Cute and simple. For the food, I would say the fried tofu taco was bomb. Next time I'm definitely gonna get the combo with two fried tofu ones. I also got the chimichurri tempeh which was eh out of all 4. I swear someone went to the grocery and mistook parsley for cilantro because I fed tasted parsley and I'm not too fond of Mexican with parsley?! Maybe it was just me. Would've been nice if it was all cilantro chimichurri! The boyf got the sriracha bbq jackfruit and that was my second fave. Not bad but not as great as the fried tofu. The chorizo seitan was also pretty good, on par with the sriracha jackfruit. We both got the chips and bean dip. I knew there wouldn't be enough for me to get dip generously onto my chips so I spread it out evenly. The boyf finished all his dip with half the chips still left. Typical. They weren't anything amazing or to die for. For some reason I thought it was supposed to be warm, probs cause I make mine warm and with chipotle. Will def get the rice and beans as a side next time. While I miss Sabertooth and their co-presence with Taco Party, I really do like Taco party. The flavors are interesting and not what you're probably expecting from a typical taco. The flavor is not for everyone, my kids for example are not fans, but I am a fan. To make up for lack of Sabertooth they now make some of their own desserts.
