I love this place! It's great for take out! The steak picada is wonderful with fresh onion and bell peppers, and the price is just right! place is next to my work. the burrito is huge and a great value! i usually get their hard shell tacos, which i think are perhaps the best in the area for hard shell ground beef. but dont take it to-go because the liquid from the beef will make the hard shell soggy within 5 minutes! i think ive tried everything here before, and you cant really go wrong. its not amazing, but its pretty solid. if you want better tasting mexican, it can be found at other places around the area, but for value and convenience, this is good for me. I live near this place, so I decided to give it a try. I am pretty happy with everything about them. Portions are good, price is good, food is good. I don't know what else to say. I think, I don't love their choices of salsa though, either too sweet or too bitter. I need something in the middle! The biggest plus for this place, and something other reviewers haven't touched too much upon, is that it shares a parking lot with 7-11. That is huge. Tacos are much bigger here than other places but then again they do charge a bit more. I got the usual al pastor while the boyfriend got his carne asada. I've noticed sometimes the al pastor is really juicy and flavorful while other times it's stale and bland... so I guess it's a hit and miss. This is my favorite Mexican Food in Santa Monica (perhaps that's not saying very much). I'm from San Francisco and this kind of reminds me of the taquerias back home. I'm pretty certain I did NOT order the right item, because their al pastor is really lacking. I ordered three because I just love me some al pastor, and I always order it with no salsa because good al pastor doesn't need it. Meh. Sorry, but it was dry and not well-marinated. This isn't the kind of place that does anything out of the ordinary or that you would go out of your way for but what they do do is serve up some solid food with good sized portions. I ordered the burrito platter from the catering menu for a potluck at my work. Menu reads burrito platter...for 10: $45, for 20: $90. I asked for 10 burritos, thinking the price would be $45. When food was delivered I was charged $113. When I called to ask about the charge, the employee asked what I ordered, I said 10 burritos and she then said what else did you order? I said that was all I ordered, and then she said she had to call me back. Didn't get a call back, and when I followed up the staff told me "10" means 5 burritos cut in half for 10 pieces so I was charged the 20 for $90 price....uhhh. This is my local Mexican spot, just blocks from my home and I crave their Rice-Bean-Cheese burrito (add guac). Maria is usually behind the cash register and my folks come here enough to know her personally. Always kind and with GREAT SALSA. Love this place. I have tried many Mexican restaurant around this area and this is by far my favorite. I usually order the asada burrito or the salad with the shell. Very yummy and the portion is big. This place is always crowded. So if you don't want to wait in a long line, you either get ther by 11:30am or after 1:30pm. One thing that is horrible is the parking. They only have 2-3 parkings and no much street parkings. So u will have to park really far or keep circling. read more

Came here after work with a friend the other day, I got the Taco Salad without meat, and my friend ordered a Pork Burrito, which is what they are famous for. Ok so we just moved into the area from Memphis TN and I knew CA was known for great tacos and such but a golden gem was found next to the 7Eleven! This place looks sketch from the outside. Parking of course is horrible but we found a space right in front. The seating is close to non existent and the prices were a bit steep but then again they give you a LOT of meat. Do ever eat a taco and think "I only taste the corn tortilla"? Well not at this place. They pile on the meat and the beans were flavorful. I could walk to this joint from my apartment and I definitely will be going back soon. read more

I usually judge a mexican food place by two standards: 1. are their Bean and cheese burritos good 2. Do they have good carnitas/carne asada tacos The answer to both of these is yes. Their portions are huge, their prices are really low and their quality and taste are excellent. I have to say, it's not even as greasy as I would imagine. The tacos, let me tell you, have a shitload of meat on them. I am talking huge ass tacos here! for like $2.50 it is probably three times the size of a taco truck taco that gets sold for $2, and it is just as tasty. Why ever go to a taco truck when you have this (exception for Kogi!) The bean and cheese is not what I expected, but still really good. I usually like refried beans in my burrito and these are whole pintos but once you bite in, and get all the fresh white mexican cheese they line the burrito with, it is worth it. The tortillas they use are a good choice. Not those dried out kinds, just enough give, and just enough stretch. Perfecto Also, they have really good black beans as a side. They aren't fancy, but simplicity is sometimes best. Go there now if you want to have a feast on good mexican food for under $10 read more

Not great. I've been only once, but I don't think I'll be going back. I got the veggie burrito and the vegetables were wet and turned my burrito into a soggy, slimy mess. The chips were mediocre and too salty. Chipotle, Baja Fresh, and Tito's Tacos all have better chips. The guacamole was okay, but too salty. Everything on the whole was too salty. The service was extremely slow. It took at least 15 minutes for my girlfriend and me to get our food, which was just two burritos, and some guacamole and chips. Way too long to wait for something like that. It seemed like longer, considering how cramped this place is. The parking is not great. It's a very small lot, shared by 7-Eleven and a pizzeria. As we waited, we saw several cars try to figure out how to get in and out of the spaces without running into each other. read more

This place doesn't look very sophisticated, but the food is good and the quality is consistent. I've enjoyed the fish tacos and the shrimp tacos, but usually I go for the shrimp burito (minus the sour cream). They seem to have a lot of regular customers.
