What's this you say, a SUPER DELUXE BURRITO? YES, I'LL HAVE ONE! The staff member explained how large it was, almost convincing me not to as it would be too much. Pictures, however, show that the burritos don't appear too large if they're regular sized. I went ahead with the SUPER DELUXE BURRITO with carne asada. To start, they provided complimentary chips and salsa to snack on while we waited. The super deluxe burrito was out within 5 minutes, and indeed it was quite large, stuffed with everything I was craving for a cheat night... guacamole, cheese, salsa ingredients, meat, etc. While there were no fries, it was perfect as was minus there being too much salt. I ended up eating half out of discipline, saving the other half for another meal. Need a spot to eat? There's seating indoors and outdoors, though it can feel a bit cramped. Their tables are also a bit at an awkward height, too short to sit comfortably but also too tall such that the metal chairs don't allow you to rest your elbow on the table. Parking? Holy Guacamole is located on Main Street and Ashland Avenue in Santa Monica. The parking situation is something else typical for Santa Monica. There's hardly any street parking, and if you want to park in the lot, it's a paid parking lot that costs $1.25 per hour. And the fun part? You get to take in the local "views," like homeless individuals lying on the street passed out. There's also a Starbucks across the street and an e-bike store right next door, so there's plenty to check out while you wait for your food from Holy Guacamole. They have a big menu with plenty of options, and they're best known for their breakfast burrito. I didn't personally get the breakfast burrito big mistake. I went with the carne asada burrito (no tomatoes), and I definitely should've gone with their specialty instead. The carne asada burrito barely had any meat, and it didn't come with cheese, sour cream, guac, or anything to tie it all together. It had carne asada, rice, some purplish beans, cilantro, and usually tomatoes, but overall it just lacked flavor. Honestly, I wouldn't get that burrito again if I ever came back here. The place itself is small, with a few tables inside and a few more outside along the street. It's not the cleanest spot I've ever seen, but they make do with what they have. The food was pretty mediocre nothing special and the service was just average. The person who took my order didn't seem too thrilled to be there either. The overall vibe is what you'd expect from a small spot near the beach in Santa Monica. Would I come here again? Probably not. Would I recommend trying it once? It's a main street so you'll be able to find parking but it's very unassuming but after being recommended the Pastor burrito I was wonderfully shocked and the tamales were very juicy and the hot sauce is not too spicy but it really hits the spot. I got a glass bottle of Coke, and I am very satisfied and will be coming back for not only drunk eats, but sober eats. I chose HG and ordered a fish burrito as well as some chips / guac / salsa for the group to share. My friends that chose HG with me had tacos that they seemed to enjoy. Admittedly, I had order envy when seeing the cheeseburgers and fries a few doors down. My burrito was decent, but nothing special. I did like the salsa, but I do not recommend the guac. I've always wanted to come here every time I was hungry and needed a quick fix. Today I finally came! After years lol. It's a good quick option based on what I got today but going to come back and give it another whirl. Seating - outside in the sun along Main St which is awesome on a pretty day and easy on a Sunday holiday afternoon or inside at the bar or small tables. Not really designed for parties larger than 2 unless outside and limited at that. Parking - there's public outdoor metered type parking behind the building for several streets so it's reasonably easy or public transport is super easy. Service - no frills no thrills, order at cashier pay and move on lol. Salsa and chips - always a good way to know if something is legit. In MX the GREEN salsa is the spicy salsa. Makes sense as jalapeños are green! They definitely make a very spicy green salsa here. I don't do spicy but if you do this is probably legit for you. The roasted red salsa was mild and more my speed. The chips are light and maybe flour? Not sure but they're good. I would not come and buy chips and salsa to go which is usually a rating point for MX spots for me. Tacos - got the carne asada which was flavorful and the pastor which was just ok to me. Street taco style but a little bigger. I had two and was full and had not had lunch. Pricy though at $5 a pop after tax. I'll try the breakfast burrito next time. read more

I can only speak to the breakfast burrito here, but it is what keeps me coming back again, and again, and again. THE CHORIZO BREAKFAST BURRITO IS ELITE. Some of the best chorizo I have ever had. Best part is its not mixed in with the egg. The eggs are blanketed over the huge flour tortilla and the burrito is filled with chorizo, hash browns and pico de gallo. I get mine with no cheese and I like to add bacon sometimes. This runs me about $12 but it is pretty big so I eat half for breakfast and half for lunch when I decide to order. This place has one of THE BEST breakfast burritos in LA. I've tried a bunch of their items and the bfast burritos always reign supreme. My favorite is the chorizo breakfast burrito, Joe's special is second - their asada is fantastic. Both the Tijuana and California were also decent but not as satisfying as the chorizo or carne asasa - really loved the guac so I think my go to from now on is the chorizo add guac. Non breakfast items I've had are the fish burrito (just okay, probably would be better super deluxe) and the Al pastor taco (dry with the guac and salsas). Both salsas are great - the green is better. Their horchata is one of the best in LA (I say that about most horchatas tho teehee...) I hate leaving reviews like this, but I didn't even get to try the food due to the rudeness of the cashier. I've lived in the neighborhood for 3 years and have never actually tried this place. Today I woke up craving a breakfast burrito BAD but when I walked by around 9AM they were still closed. I headed home and decided to wait and come back an hour later as I really wanted to finally give this place a shot. Walked my dog over and the line was only about 2 people deep and held inside. I waited almost 10 minutes for the two groups ahead of me to be slowly served and when it was finally my turn the cashier told me I can't have my dog inside, even if just ordering to go. I'm not going to be some martyr for my dog, but in this neighborhood it is a tad bit strange to have a no-dog policy as they are basically welcomed with open arms everywhere. I get it though, private business can do as they please so I tried to troubleshoot the situation: "Am I able to order from outside using the to-go window?" "No you have to tie your dog outside and come back in." "Wait I have to leave my dog outside?" "Tie her up then you can come back in and order." At that point I gave up and left. I do not actually need to leave my 12lb partially handicapped dog unattended on Main St. to order an overpriced breakfast burrito from a dingy taco stand. Sorry my guy. Guess this one will stay on the "haven't tried it" list. Poor policies and poor customer service skills. Maybe take the table that blocks the to go window away and use it for what it's meant for?
