It has been a long time since I've been to Poquito Mas. Honestly it's been maybe 20 years since I've been here. Back in the day I would get some nachos and go to town on it and remember it being very good and filling, but I wanted to see if it held up or... did it go downhill and is the location months away from closing like everything else in this city, particularly this area I'm happy to say that these nachos hit. I paid $20 for a plate of steak nachos and a fountain drink that of course I wish had more guac and steak but I was honestly more than content. I couldn't finish the meal because it was very filling, it should easily be for two people I'm not a nacho connoisseur but these may have been the best nachos I've ever had in my life. Almost every piece was coated with cheese and even the ones that weren't still tasted seasoned and good. Would smash again. I usually don't rate chain fast food type restaurants besides In N Out 5 stars, but it exceeded by expectations. First timer here and my first impression was seeing the fresh handmade tortillas being made upon walking in. I got a classic chicken burrito with beans/rice and a carnitas quesadilla. There are many locations around Los Angeles, this one is just east of Sawtelle. I would say the food is solid, there are better tasting options around the city, but it is always really fast and convenient here and they always get the order right. Inside has a lot of tables to dine in, but most people choose to go, which is what we did for our order as well. There is a large free parking lot attached with plenty of spaces and the food is always ready quickly. This most recent visit I ordered the Steak Burrito and really enjoyed it. I wish it would have had more meat inside, but still the flavors were overall pretty good. It's not my favorite Mexican spot in town, but I would say I enjoy it and would recommend. read more

I ordered a carnitas burrito for take out. When I got home to eat it, the meat inside was NOT carnitas, but something resembling ground chicken. It was also nearly tasteless. Carnitas is pulled pork that has been slowly braised. I ate barely a quarter of the thing before giving up in discust. It was basically a portion of mushy tasteless butternut squash with a couple of leaves of kale stuffed into a burrito. No rice,no cheese, no beans. For $14.00. I have eaten at this location many times and it is my favorite place to get a burrito. But this was by far the most dissapointing meal I have had in a long time. If this is the best you can do for a "farmer's market" version why even put it on the menu. It was a waste of my money and I hope you will see fit to offer me something iin compensation. read more

Every so often I make a stop at this place because I absolutely love their broiled shrimp San Felipe burrito. Try it without the cheese. It's so delicious and the shrimp tasted very fresh. They've cut back on the amount of shrimp though, for sure. They also make a fried scampi version. Their quesadillas are great too, especially with chicken. The salsa bar has a few wonderful fresh salsas that you serve yourself. It looked pretty good today, but they used to have more of a variety of salsas. They will give complementary chips, but make sure you ask for them. If you dine in, they give you a number and today they actually brought my food to the table, which was nice. I remember a couple years back when they were being very cheap with the chips. In fact, back then I asked for chips and one of the employees looked at me very seriously and said "really? people usually don't want them anymore". So today I asked right away "there are chips included, right?" They have a few comfy booths in the back against the wall that are great to sit at with a friend. There's also outside seating and I love the Mexican music. Easy free parking right in front in the lot, but it gets really full. A lot of the spots are reserved for the mini mall's banks . If you're looking for causal and solid Mexican food, this is a good option. This is a counter service situation and there's a salsa bar. You can also see the kitchen making fresh tortillas. I'm pretty sure I've been here before, but I came with some family members while visiting LA. I ordered the chicken mas mucho burrito which came with chicken, salsa, beans, sour cream, cheese, and guacamole. My biggest pet peeve with these kinds of burritos is when the fillings aren't evenly spread out, and that unfortunately happened. After 2 bites, I had one gigantic gob of sour cream, and then no more sour cream throughout the burrito. That said, I still did enjoy it, especially with additional salsa verde and red spicy salsa and hot sauce. The service was quick, and the servers brought out chips fairly quickly. There isn't a ton of seating for how busy it gets inside, but there is a lot of outdoor seating. read more

Well, I have gone to this mini restaurant on Westwood blvd several times. Service is friendly but extremely SLOW. I would say the food is 80% good. DO NOT EVER ORDER THE TORTILLA SOUP. My soup looked like it was topped off with tap water. And there was hardly anything in it. The burritos are good if a bit anemic compared to some other places. If I were to go back, I would try their plates.. AVOID the salsa bar (I saw someone using their hand inside the salsa .. eww) But beyond that, go for it. read more

Holy cow.... The degree of lack of capacity from the woman who answered the phone was unbelievable. I wanted to order a burrito, take out the pico de gallo, and add tomatoes. The app doesn't have that option, so I called to ask. I asked if I could remove pico de gallo and add only tomatoes, and she said "you can take out anything you want". I explained that that's not what I was asking. I said I wanted to remove the pico de gallo, and she jumped in and said, "that burrito already comes with guacamole". I said I wasn't asking about guacamole. She kept interrupting me to tell me I can take out anything I want, and put in anything I want. I said, "I know, but the app doesn't give the option to add tomatoes," she said, "I don't know about the app....". Obviously. I repeated what I wanted, she responded, "you can take out the pico de gallo and add guacamole." Then I asked her to put her manager on since she wasn't comprehending. Instead of putting her manager on, she held the phone to her neck, and spoke to the manager repeating everything she'd said to me, just as incorrectly, without handing them the phone, which is what I requested. She was completely incapable of understanding me, and failed to do the simple task of giving someone else the phone. So if they wonder why some people go eat somewhere else, which is what I did, get functional staff, or take them off any customer service tasks, and hand them a mop. read more

I have a complaint about a member of the staff, a cashier named Xiomara, whose name I saw on her cap. The food is very delicious, I like everything about the restaurant, and my children love it, but this woman is very unhygienic. She has very long, dirty fingernails, and she also has bad breath. Honestly, I won't be eating there anymore. I already filed a complaint by phone with a woman named Rosi, but I see that nothing has been done about it. And when I go to eat there, the managers are always on their lunch break. I'll have to file a complaint with the health department so they can investigate and take the necessary action. I'm very upset because, at the very least, they should tell the woman to wear a mask. I'm sorry, but I won't be returning to the restaurant! read more

The taquitos are made fresh when ordered and are SO BIG and SO TASTY! My husband says the chicken burritos are the best! My son is hooked on the Tazon bowls! Worst burrito I've ever had. Got the small burrito with steak for $15, which I already felt was overpriced for the small one. Then once I tasted it, it felt like I got scammed. The food was so incredibly bland that I started to worry that I might have Covid while I was eating it. I doused it in hot sauce and it still tasted like nothing. We ordered 2 watermelon juices, a shrimp bowl, and a cheese enchilada plate. Since many mexican restaurants tend to drown their enchiladas with red sauce, I requested my enchilada plate with less red sauce so that I can taste the cheese & tortillas. It wasn't until after the order was placed that I looked at the receipt and noticed an additional $2.95 for requesting less red sauce. The employee confirmed that charge is correct. The shrimp bowl was alright. The watermelon juice tasted as though a sweetener was added. The enchilada plate included rice and black beans. The rice was good. The black beans were barely at room temperature. The only saving grace were the enchiladas as they did taste very good. But next time, I'll order the enchilada plate without any changes in order to avoid the $2.95 surcharge. I'll just scoop off the excess red sauce. read more

Seafood and Ahi tuna is the only and a great reason to come to this restaurant. I'm sure, most fast food Mexican restaurants that you've been to don't offer seafood. Baja fresh and Poquito Mas are the only cafés that offer fish as far as I know. Their Ahi tuna tostada salads are totally worth a visit for lunch. One of my favorites, as a matter fact. Dish quality at Paquito Mas is very inconsistent though. Depending on a cook on duty you may get a pile of garbage in your plata but often you do get quality meal out of the visit. But I HATE how slow and how long it takes to get the order, I hate that they consistently get my only modification of no sour cream wrong, and when they give me a choice of black or refried beans, they get it wrong and the food is very salty! Wow I love this place, crazy how they have a 3.3 rating. The food is enjoyable, the portions are large enough for a big guy like me. The parking is easy so that's nice. The staff is very friendly. One cashier Claudia was very helpful, the rest of the staff behind the grill is also very polite. I remember crying there one day unable to order and they were very respectful. Every time I'm in LA I have to come here! My order is incredibly simple - the bean and cheese burrito with pinto beans. I'm obsessed with the beans. The rest of the food is top notch and everyone I con in to bringing here loves whatever they get. I wouldn't even say the bean burrito is the best on the menu it's just what I crave. I have mixed thoughts about this place. I used to come here once a week, but things have changed for the worse. I tried a new item to me, the shrimp burrito San Lucas, and was an instant fan. Ordered it the next time I was in, and it tasted like a totally different item. And same with the time after that. For $15, it's got to be consistent. Same experience with the San Filipe burrito. And the chicken enchiladas have a new red sauce, with no flavor. Additionally, this place does not give you chips anymore - that should be automatic. For a $65 order, you don't even give a customer chips? That's just cheap. Not sure if I'll be back - too many other places. read more
