Great service, delicious tacos, great value. If I'm ever in town again, I'll definitely be back!!

Finding it via gps was kinda hard as its in a stripmall towards the back on the left side. Plenty of parking and open late as a local place. Came to it because this type of food is quick and usually hard to mess up. I had the 3 crispy tacos with chicken but the chicken reminded me of McD's chicken nuggets that had no flavor and wasn't made of ?chicken. The tortillas were greasy and over fried. Topped with lettus strips, cheese, bits of tomatoes looked fresh. My wife got the 2 fish tacos with no flavor and the tortilla which we are convinced made her stomach feel like it had a large air bubble and ache. Alka-Seltzer to the rescue! The rrefried beans were good and the rice is as same as everywhere. The horchata came out of the tap like soda!? Not okay. Maybe across the parking lot the tacos are better at California Tacos as some of the reviewers wrote. Service was fine. Seating was fine. Just another slight below average place. read more

As a new-ish local, I'm getting used to the local fare and "spread the wealth" by trying all the restaurants. And usually my trips to Taco Roco are fine, especially on $1 taco Tuesdays. But today I went in, set on getting two flautas - not one, not three, but two. So I say to the gentleman at the counter, "May I please have two flautas." There is a flautas item on the menu on the wall so the gentleman at the counter asks, "Two orders?" And I say, "No, thank you. Just two flautas, please." He points to the menu on the wall and says that an order of flautas has three flautas. I say, "No, thank you. I just want two." He points again at the menu and says, it comes with three. I reiterate, thinking that maybe he doesn't hear me and again say that I only want two. He, one more time, points at the menu and says "Three. It comes with three." I then tilted my head, like my dog when he hears something strange. I say "No, thank you" and turn and walk out the door and head right across the parking lot to California Tacos where I get two flautas - no questions, no hassle, just like I wanted. So, in Solvang, if you want what you want then go to California Tacos. Otherwise, settle and go to Taco Roco. Me, the way I see it, I'm probably not going in there again for a while.... read more

My sisters and I were famished so we were eager to try their specialties. We were very disappointed. The food was mediocre. The chips were stale and the salsa was bland. The most disappointing part of the experience was the customer service from the server that delivered the food to our table. There were tables that had social distancing signs on them. We asked if our group could sit together and still leave a table between our group and the next. There was plenty of room. Her response was vague and difficult to understand but said "I don't care". We all understood that it was then ok to sit together as long as we had a table between next group. We sat down and then she said no, we could not sit there. Confused we asked for clarification and to our dismay, the whole time she was telling us that she "didn't care" if we were a group. In any profession there are manners. She had none. Open when they say they are open (unlike Cal Taco). Quality food and quick service. Staff are always friendly and courteous!

Someone I know highly recommended this place. His family is from Mexico, I assumed he knew what good Mexican food was. Never again will I take his advice on anything! Nasty enchilada sauce, there was corn in the rice (pet peeve of mine) the beans were gross. I threw away most of my food. Even the ice water I got had a funny taste. Taco Rock is hit and miss. Tried their stack Tuesday. The soft and Crispy Tacos this time were Excellent and Fresh. The Grilled Chicken and Shredded Pork was moist and Tender. The Carnitas (Shredded Pork) was a little chewy and dry. The assortment of sauces are very tasty. For $1.25 for Tacos and Tuesday is well worth it. read more

I had delicious homemade albondigas soup. Their carnitas is delicious. Good Mexican beer selection. Very friendly staff. Generous portions and good prices. Good menu variety. I was so surprised to find such great Mexican food in Solvang! A much better choice than the mediocre Danish restaurants in the village! read more

Went to do some wine tasting in Los Olivos. Before doing so on an empty stomach we stopped in Los Olivos to grab a quick bite. Bad idea. It was crowded with a ton of tourists like me. We drove towards Solvang which we knew would also be uber crowded with tourists but happened upon Taco Roco along the way. It was quiet. Good AC. Well ventilated with three fans. The Latina who took our order had a ton of blue mascara. I thought she looked great. Decor was lined with early 80's vinyl booth seating. They had a new self serve coke machine. They also had a refrigerator stocked with cokes in a bottle. Honestly, I think this place is meant for the Hispanic laborers/farmers as a rewarding meal after a long days work at all the up and coming chichi wineries. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me. And you know what, it didn't disappoint. My wife's chicken you could tell was freshly killed. The whiny people complaining are just upset that they aren't getting their hyper processed, hyper preserved food that they've grown accustomed to.. Rice and beans are good(probably laden with pig lard, but so what, it's good). My veggie burritos had tons of avo in it. And they have a salsa bar which you could help your self. $20 for a meal for two in SB wine country that is beyond tasty? and people are complaining? Excellent service. Friendly server listened to our wishes and selected an off menu fajitas combination bowl with nice warm flour tortillas. Plenty of chicken, beef, rice, beans, onions to carry home for another round for breakfast. We will come again. Oh, and the flan was the best we have ever tasted. read more

I stopped at this Taco Roco on my way to Lompoc. The two women working at the counter did not make eye contact with me and I proceeded to wait 3-5 minutes until someone acknowledged me. (The women were not helping anyone else at the time). The woman who took my order was not pleasant and continued not to make eye contact or smile. I would not recommend this Taco Roco due to the unfriendly encounter I had. read more

The California breakfast burrito has bacon, cheese, pico de gallo and eggs in it. Very fresh and clean tasting. IF you need a breakfast burrito with these ingredients, do drop by and be very nice. read more

One star is generous. I didn't know it was possible to get such bad Mexican food anywhere in CA. ONE WORD: Gross. I tried a cheese and beef enchilada. The quality was so bad, it bordered on inedible. The cheese enchilada was hard. Yes hard. Either nuked in a microwave or warmed up from yesterday in the oven. Either way too much. The beef...or whatever it was...disgusting. Not ground. Not pulled. Some dog food looking crap. No flavor. And the rice seemed like minute rice and the beans were out of a can. Also, ordered a beer...no limes. Avoid this place. I hope I don't get sick. We ordered chips and salsa with our meal. The chips were stale so my husband took them up and told her this. She apologized and said she would bring out fresh ones. She brought some, same chips, stale, just heated them slightly. I also got food poisoning from something there. Up all night so sick! read more

Taco Roco offers good Mexican styled food at a reasonable price. The chili rellenos are excellent here! Chili verde, enchiladas and tacos are great as well. The main reason I've given 4 stars instead of 5 is because the food is Americanized and not your traditional fare. But outside of that the food quality and price make up for that. read more

Ok so a 2.5 I would have to say... I guess. So I heard about Taco Tuesday's here and I did not feel like cooking or going big on dining. I just wanted to have a couple tacos... Well seeing that it was Taco Tuesday and I am a chef, and a wanna be food critic (beyond Yelp) I said one of each please. So I got 10 tacos. I just worked out for 3 hours and was soooo hungry. I love street car taco's! So excited.... I felt like a little kid who just found out there was no such thing as Santa Clause. I was heart broken. :( Carnitas and chorizo were good and the other 8... well... kinda sucked. I am still trying figure out what one of the taco's meat was? It looked like a hair ball and tasted like recycled paper. It did not do justice to the beauty of what mexican food could be. It was lacking, but so was the place itself. It was kinda dirty and just... Well I don't think I care to go back. Look, if your broke, hungry, and it's tuesday then feel free to grub. Some of it was edible. Get the carnitas and/or beef I guess. This place has good food, my Husband is from Mexico so when we eat mexican food it had better be pretty authentic, and he likes their food. Their Taco Tuesday is great!!! The place is always packed, and the service is wonderful. The employees are always happy to help you. I did order a beef taco the last time as I was expecting ground beef and it was more like a slice of Tri-tip in the taco. Their grilled fish taco's are great as are their Carnitas, Chicken and Carne Asada. They have a salsa that is good and spicy! read more

Inconsistent. I've had decent food here, but my last visit was terrible. I ordered a burrito and asked for no rice. The girl taking my order said.."no rice??" In a rude way...and rolled her eyes at me when I confirmed I did not want rice. When I received the burrito...part was cold, and other parts hot. It was disgusting. My family and I have eaten here quite frequently. It's okay, but my kids love the combo meals, so we go once every two weeks or so. We usually have friendly service but last week we ordered food to go for two families, and it was a disaster!! When we opened the food, we realized they only gave us half our order, so I went back to get the rest. I called ahead to let them know. When I went in, the girls were extremely rude. The one girl said the cook remembers putting the whole order together, and that I was lying!! First of all, my husband works in the restaurant business and would never stoop so low as to try and get free food. Second of all, they treated me like a criminal!! I couldn't believe it! I asked for the non existent manager, and got no help!! I ended up paying for the tacos I already paid for because it was late, and there were 5 starving kids. I will NEVER step foot in this mediocre place again!!! Take my word for it....they don't understand the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE and if you don't have that, well your food better kick ass, which sadly it does not!! read more

We have been here several times over the last five years and have never been disappointed. The tacos (potato and carnitas) are delicious and today we had the pork tamale special with rice and beans and all was great. Good prices on beer and wine (served in a big glass) too! read more

Yelp has the name wrong. It is TACO ROCO. The address is correct. It was know as Taco Loco about 10 to 15 years ago according to the very nice young lady who help us there. Next time we are in the area we will be back. The El Pastor tacos were every good. read more

I go here probably once or twice a month. i always get the same thing. The burrito Roco with chicken. Big burrito covered in sauce with some lettuce, sour cream and guacamole on the side. Not outstanding, but definitely worth a try. Priced well for a tourist area. Its one of those order and pay at the counter restaurants and then they bring you your food. Worst thing I experienced was the fact that you had to pay to get chips and salsa. Three of us for dinner was about $33. I had carnitas on special for about $9. Pretty good flavor. I went in a few times in the past three week. Sometimes also ordering food to go, sometimes just to drink a quick beer while waiting for my girlfriend to get off work across the street. I went in yesterday, ordered a beer and was told that I could not just buy a beer, that "we are not a bar", and the girl was really rude. I ordered a beer and taco, and l told them that they could keep their taco when they brought it to me. There was only one couple in the place, so I'm sure I didn't take someone's seat. The food is bland anyway, and no one smiles or tries to welcome you when you come in. It's like you're a nuisance. Sooo....I would stay away and go to California Taco across the parking lot. I love Taco Roco, but would not recommend Taco Roco of Solvang. I've gone in to eat several times thinking the food will get better, but it only gets worse. Their meat is over-salted and their guacamole is not guacamole, but rather a watery topping. If anything, you'd get better service and better food at the Taco Roco of Lompoc, Buellton or Santa Maria. read more
