My wife and I have always loved Taco Tico, but unfortunately the Taco Tico in Derby has ruined that for us lately. Tonight we got tacos and could hardly open them because they were swimming in so much grease. I've noticed this is a trend lately. Grease literally has been pouring out of our tacos and seeping through the bag. It made an absolute mess in our car. To add to that, if you visit the restaurant at any time after 6 pm, be prepared to wait for about half an hour to get your food. You'd be better off going to a sit down restaurant and waiting for a full meal to come out of the kitchen. This is unacceptable, and I'm completely disgusted. read more

Five for nostalgia. Growing up in Wichita in the 70s and 80s, this was always the place I wanted to eat. No one ever had to ask me, because my answer was always Taco Tico. Every. Single. Time. So every time I get back to Wichita, I have to stop by for a combo burrito and a tacoburger. A couple of years ago, friends and family gleefully informed me all the Taco Tico restaurants were closed, and I know that made them happy as they all had not so fond memories of eating here with me so many years ago....and so many times! I loved this place so much I even worked at a Taco Tico when I needed a job! Ah yeah. We happened to make an unexpected trip to Wichita last week, and stayed in Haysville, close to hubby's family. Just for giggles, I looked online to see if this store was open and hells yes! An open Taco Tico! The food was almost as good as I remember; I know the menu and management has changed a lot over the years. The combo burrito was $2.09 and was freaking huge! I was impressed! The people were friendly and the place seemed clean. If it weren't for the memories and nostalgia, this place would probably be a two or a three star, but in my book, Taco Tico will always be a five star! Love you forever Taco Tico! read more

The food is still really the same Taco Tico I remember as a kid but it took 17 minutes to get a 10 taco order. On a lighter note, there was another fast food place similar to Taco Tico down the road. When we pulled up to Taco Tico there were 6-8 cars in the drive up window. When we left and went by the other fast food Taco place, there was not a single car in their drive up window. read more

This is the worse service that I have ever had. The workers were to busy cussing and singing "bees in da trap" to make my order. It took 20 minutes to make 5 burritos, and then they did not heat them up! They are cold and hard. Do not go here if you want fast good food. I'm fascinated that it takes an hour to get an order of 5 taco burgers, 2 soft tacos and bean and cheese burrito. What is going on here????

To begin with, the food on this trip was fine and I, despite the problems that occurred on this most recent trip, still feel the restaurant deserves 4 stars. With that said, the employees on this trip were less than favorable. Normally, the employees are excellent. They are kind, courteous, and actually seem like they want to be there. Not today. Our order was taken by Bailey B according to our receipt and she was very rude and inconsiderate. While taking our order, she seemed very disinterested which may have led to the next issue. I ordered a number 3, like I do every time because taco burgers are delicious, and received a number 6 which was three tacos, also known as disappointment. When I brought it up to her, she seemed annoyed and very short with me. Unfortunately, we did not look at the receipt which indeed had a number six instead of a number three so I didn't fight it much. My wife told me soon after that she told the people in the kitchen and were making a big joke out of it. Upsetting. Not long after that, another couple comes in who apparently knew someone on the staff. They were given excellent service by her. She asked questions, verified information, and even offered a free drink upsize. None of that service was extended to us. Restaurant: Great. Derby,Ks. Taco Tico repeatedly gets drive thru orders wrong. Reported this to night manager Shala and she admonished me for asking what was going on and saying workers were not competent...she obviously could not care less that in one month we got three wrong orders. I have loved this place ever since I was a teenager in High school some some 43years ago, They havent changed their food love it!! Only thing is so do many others. During the week nights between 5-7pm dont be surprised if you are waiting in line at the drive thru at least 30 minutes and going inside is not any faster. read more

Falling back into what prompted the stores to close a few years ago. The taco shells were stale and so was the tortilla on the sancho. Flies wouldn't leave me alone while eating. The carpet was filthy and wet. It's a shame to see it start to fail, missed it when it was gone, but will not be dining at the one in Derby again. read more

My first restaurant ever worked out was Taco Tico , and it all Remains the Same. Which is delicious. I tried the one at 13th and Tyler and it is ok. I really do like the owner after years of going there, but she doesn't know how to prep the food as well as some of her managers. Now that I'm living down south my son and I go for text mex tacos. I always order crispy flour tacos with sour cream and green chili. Son gets bean and cheese burritos with mild. They are prepared perfectly in Derby. Temperature is amazing and just the right amount of sour cream and sauce. Don't try to think out-of-the-box at this restaurant because they may over charge you. read more

Very reasonable prices and the food is very good, I live in the Derby area and had quit going there a few years ago but went back since they reopened a year ago (new management) and the food is better. Taco shells are fresh compared to what they served previously and the people working there now are very friendly. read more
