Wonderful spot right on Orange Turnpike! The portions are generous and flavorful, and the staff were very friendly. Definitely recommend Taco Tpke for getting your taco fix in Rockland County. Overpriced, lacking flavor. The food does taste very fresh, and everything is made in house including the chips which is a good thing. The salsas are the star of the show, they are great and vibrant, very fresh tasting and all very spicy. Even the guacamole is great but also a bit spicy. the meats used however is lackluster in depth of flavor. They provide generous portions of meat on all tacos, however they just taste meh.... Lacking flavor or depth of character. All tacos were juicy( (chicken and al pastor) but they just seemed to be very bland and unexciting.... Maybe they just need salt? Fish tacos were also completely bland and the house made cabbage slaw was also just missing on flavor and sort of disappointing. For the price, I just expected more depth of taste.... I suppose if you covered everything in the hot sauces this makes up for it, but if you're not a fan of spicy food then the flavor is just not there.... There are much better tasting tacos in nearby Haverstraw area for example.. read more

A small restaurant with outstanding service, caring for customers and going above and beyond. We got there after a hike and they already were serving a big group of people so the wait and seating was limited, they offered take out instead and once the big group left they reheated our meal and the chef insisted on making a new burrito so we had a hot meal as we had had quite a wait. Amazing birria tacos, they even offered to make coffee and offered cream although there initially wasn't any. TLDR: Yes! Authentic, fresh Mexican street tacos in ...Sloatsburg? What's happening in this sleepy hamlet? I haven't lived here long enough to know why we have so many good casual restaurants but coming from Southern California, I've been here long enough to long for the fresh, authentic Mexican street tacos. Served on double layered 4" soft tortillas, a variety of great tasting fillings and freshly sliced toppings the tacos are nearly the best I've had anywhere. Nothing about the restaurant screams Mexican food but it is very clean with a nice decor and a small outdoor patio. Indoor seating is also available. Counter service and seat yourself. I had "Hook me up" 3 pack and chose the Al Pastor (pork), the Pescado (fish) and the Camarones (shrimp). All three were delicious l, the Al Pator being my favorite; served nicely with a wedge of fresh pineapple on top, )to aid with digestion.) next I liked the fish, lightly breaded and not overcooked. Last the shrimp was very good and enjoyable. But I prefer without cheese. I could see they used fresh shrimp so next time I would try grilled without cheese. Fresh sliced limes and a bag of chips. Got a cup of Elote Mexican street corn to go so can't opine on that but anxious to try it. As soon as I walked in and saw Jarritos in the cooler I knew it would be a great place! Love this place! We were passing through from out of state and before going to home we stopped at this taco place. It was amazing. We a group of 17 and while it is a small place there was plenty of room. The service is fantastic and so is the food. I think we tried everything on the menu! Make sure to try the flan. read more
