We have been going to this Taco Tree for years and the food has been great. Mainly stop by for the breakfast burritos. Unfortunately when we went through the drive thru they missed putting one of our orders in the bag. I went in to let them know and the girl who made our food got completely defensive and essentially called me a liar. Really? Wow. I've never had such rude service there. The owners should know they have an employee that is unnecessarily aggressive. Smh. read more

Taco Tree has been around for as long as I can remember. Been coming here since I was a kid, over 30 years ago. I now live in Sacramento, but will try to make a stop whenever I am in Auburn. They have been serving great food with reasonable price for decades. Due to Covid-19, Taco Tree is still open for drive-tru, togo, and outside dining. They have about 5-6 tables outside for you to enjoy. This is a great place to go for lunch or if you need to grab a quick meal because their services are friendly and quick! read more

I've lived in Auburn since the 90s and I've always loved taco tree but today I had a really bad experience. I walked in to taco tree and went to use the bathroom first. When I came out, I walked up to the counter and one of the employees walked past me and then look back at me didn't say anything. I'll be with you in just a minute. One of the other employees making food looked at me and said do you want to order? I simply said yes, but still nobody helped me instead the employee made some sort of smart remark. I wasn't sure it was aimed at me until the other employee said what and she replied that wasn't at you. It wasn't a teenager that knew nothing about manners. This was an adult She should know better. If taco tree doesn't correct those kinds of attitudes with their employees they're gonna lose business fast. I ended up leaving because even after the smart remark and their discussion about it, they still did not help me. It's mediocre Americanized Mexican food in its purest form. It's a lot like Jimboys or Del taco but also totally unique and much better quality. This is everything that makes a fast food taco establishment and it's the best at it, something about this place is very crave-able. They have good beef enchiladas, bun tacos, tacos, burritos and refried beans with sauce and cheese. I am from Sacramento and it's worth the drive up for me. Service is good and polite, the employees actually care and the food is consistent. The interior is basic and a-lot like a classic jimboys. It's has a classic, cozy fast food feel. The super tacos (both chicken or beef) are good comfort food. Yes it is "Americanized" beef meaning a (lack of spices)- but that is what the taco sauce packets are for people. At LEAST the beef tastes more like REAL beef as opposed to Taco #$@! which tastes like tofu beef? It's Americanized Mexican food. But, they do it well. My kids love this place. I like that our dinner for 3 was under $15, unlike $30 at Chik-fil-A. There was lettuce and tomatoes on the tacos, so it made my mama heart trying to keep new year's resolutions, a little less guilty. Tacos. What it is ...is inexpensive and simple old fashion American comfort food that is consistently prepared. I was introduced to this place nearly 15 years ago, and even though I've had way better tasting tacos since than and before...I still get a hankering for Taco Tree. The tacos contain simple ground beef, fine fresh grated cheddar cheese and shredded lettuce, served in a store bought shell. The bun taco is the taco innards served on a hamburger bun. It reminds me of a loose meat sandwich. Tacos cost $1.49 and bun tacos are $2.02. Ask for packets of taco sauce. This particular Taco Tree location has been around for quite sometime. Before it was a Taco Tree, it was Joe's Frostie. This place has history and played a part of a lot of "Auburnites" lives. The food is fresh, and yes-it's white folk's Mexican food. I guess they do something right, because many of the workers who frequent this spot throughout the day are spanish speaking hispanics. Tell them their breakfast or lunch sucks...dare you! It's not Adalberto's, it's not authentic taqueria style food...but it's delicious for the value, flavor and simplicity. A few years ago they even added chicken to the menu. Similar to In & Out, Taco Tree keeps the options minimal. However, what the offer they do well and it's consistent. Just placed a order at around 6:15 pm. It was a pretty big order, but the girl taking read it back perfectly. Picked up the order at the drive thru window, and was asked if I needed a spoon for the enchilada, and the bean cup. Got home and inspected our order. Found no enchilada, taco, or extra red sauce. Called the restaurant and informed the person on the phone (same that took the order) that we were missing items. She proceeded to tell me that the items were in the bags given to us, after I had to tell her our complete order because I couldn't find the receipt. Even after that, she continued to argue with me and basically calling me a liar for stating that we were missing items from the order. Granted the missing items were 6-7$, it was a person's dinner. We live 20 minutes away, and there was no going back after we were already dressed out. At that point, she stated I was basically S. O. L after I asked if we could get a credit for the missing items (not the first time that this has happened at this location. Pretty sure she has answered the phone when I called with the same issues before, and pretty much response was the same). After I saw the confirmation was not going anywhere, I stated that I was just letting them know of the issue, and got a very sarcastic response. I've been going to this place for over 3 decades, and I have seen a serious decline in customer service and thoroughness of orders. Not pleased about it, and will not be going to this location again. Taco Tree is amazing! Their tacos are very simple, so don't expect anything authentic. Beef, cheese and lettuce. BOOM! Amazing! Add some hot sauce, and you have one of my favorite meals. Furthermore, their nachos are also bomb and simple. Beans, meat, onions, tomatoes, nacho cheese, YUM! Their nacho cheese reminds me of the kind in elementary school, so cheesy and creamy. So unhealthy, yet so good! In addition, the staff at Taco Tree are very friendly. They work quick to get you your food. You can tell people love Taco Tree by the amount of cars in their drive-thru! I have been coming here since around 1989-1990 when I was a young man. Im now 50. This place hasnt changed a bit. Great quality food, clean, cute, local and friendly. It still as that that small and homey feel. I move to Reno in 95 but have always stoped in when I travel down to Sac area. I recently moved back to the Roseville area this and introduced my wife to this little yummy spot. We now make an occasional special day trip up there on the Harley just for lunch. Always loved this place, but it's November 2021 and food safety, public health, and customer safety should still be a priority, but this place is not taking it seriously. Of the three people working just inside the drive thru window, only one was wearing a mask. The older lady who handed us our food didn't have a mask on--yikes. After some Yelp Talk Yakity Yak about tacos, I heard tales about Taco Tree and decided I would give them a try the next time I was up in Auburn. I stopped-in at apparently the same time that school was getting out. The place was jam-packed with teens looking to take advantage of tasty tacos and low prices at the Tree. I was surprised at how polite the teens were in comparison to teens down the hill in Burbville. I tried the "taco" and the "Small Super Nachos." They were both a notch above the "Bell" (the closest pseudo-Mexican fast food business I can compare them too). The chips were thick and crunchy and held-up well to the generous toppings. I was offered jalapeños on the side when I ordered. They were relatively mild but a good addition to the nachos. The taco was smothered in shredded cheese...so much so that it was the predominant flavor. Overall, I liked the seasoning of the beef and the overall quality for a fast food offering. If the Tree was down in the valley, they would do well with the teens and the late night crowd. I still prefer taquerías over "American style" Mexican fast food...but they do what they do well. read more
