Taco Tree is a great place but the past few times they haven't gotten my order correct. Today I got super nachos and they gave me no chips... not sure how I'm supposed to eat them without chips. Overall it's a great place to eat just make sure to check your order before driving home. read more

I don't know what it is about this place? Not the best mexican food I've ever had, but definitely good fast food. Everytime I'm in the area I have to stop here! I love their tacos made just the way I like packed with meat, lettuce, and cheese. No skimping here. The nachos are very baseball food-like, meaning they have the slopped on velveeta like processed cheese but they don't hold back on it at all! I hear their breakfast is good, I will try it next time. Little Ceasar's pizza isn't the BEST pizza....however, if you have $5....c'mon...that's VALUE, and the pizza expectation is adjusted. Taco Tree is my Little Mexican Ceasar. Select Taquerias, and high end Mex food spots are crushing Taco Tree on my list of "favs", but...I have $5 in cash..its Tree time. If you want Mexican and you are a cheapo like myself, you will be scanning the value menu at Taco Bell....no shame there. But if you have a Taco Tree nearby, I bet dollars to doughnuts you are hitting it's dub-drive thru up for some tac's and burro's. Nachos are tops. If your looking for a good American style crunchy taco then Taco Tree is for you!! They put a ton of toppings on their tacos and the beef was much better than the chicken. Yea, this is definitely an Auburn institution and icon and does the town proud. The food is fine, the staff friendly, and it is always reasonably clean. Oh, and the prices are great! I mainly go to Taco Tree to get a Veggie Burrito for my drive home from the American River. I probably wouldn't seek it out if I was a local, but it is definitely part of the entire river experience. It is definitely better than Taco Bell but I wouldn't give it anywhere close to 5 stars. In addition to the veggie burrito, I have also sampled the super nachos and tacos. Very courteous employees. Service is quick and the prices are low. However the quality of the food is high and reminds me a little bit of the old days when the Taco Bell chain actually made the tacos inside the restaurant instead of just reheating it (most TB food comes from a commercial kitchen)....which is what TB does now. In contrast, you can come to this independent Auburn gem and get very cost effective Mexican style food that tastes great and is made fresh on the spot. I have tried the milkshakes, tacos, burritos, chips and beans. The milkshakes are super refreshing and hark back to an earlier, simpler fast food era (consistency is like Fosters Freeze or the old McDonald's shakes). Very good, great value. The super burrito was not especially large but all the ingredients were fresh and good. The regular tacos are a lot like Taco Bell's basic ones in the "old days" as in fresh lettuce and plenty of meat....not how I recall them in any modern visit. The refried beans are good but if you want them without hot sauce (or sauce period) you need to let them know as they come with a layer of sauce. Enjoyed the tortilla chips but they are not quite on the level of a sit down establishment in my view, but good in any case. They are a little bit on the thick side. Over all this is an Auburn gem and worth a visit if you want good American style fast food Mexican at a fair price. read more

I went here two weeks ago for the first time with my hubby (who loves the place). He bragged about how great the tacos are. I thought whatever it is just a taco. Upon arrival the prices were pretty good especially for the size of the taco. When I bit into the taco my TASTEBUDS WERE DANCING AS FIREWORKS WENT OFF. Yes, it was that good! I've been coming here ever since I moved to auburn! I swore off fast food years ago but I will still happily eat T Tree. The prices are cheap and the quality of food is much better than the rivaling Taco Bell. The super nachos are a crowd favorite and you can't go wrong!! For a lighter meal though, I usually go with one taco and one burrito. The burritos are a perfect size that leave you satiated but not in painful regret. Taco Tree is the food that my kids miss the most while away at college - and we ALWAYS make a stop on the way home from the airport when they visit. i definitely think its an "Auburn thing" and some of their visiting friends have been somewhat mystified. I visited on a trip this week. I moved out of the state in 2006. The food is as great as I remember. In fact, we ate 2 times within 2 days. I love that they give an option for soft corn tortillas. The meet isn't heavy over seasoned like Taco Bell. I took my teens there and they loved the ability to order from the whole menu in the morning. The employees were very friendly and helpful. All the items had generous portions with the meat and cheese. All produce was fresh. I fed 5 adults for under $20. If you want a consistent inexpensive meal that is delicious, Taco Tree is the place! I was excited to try this place since it has a lot of good reviews. We ordered chicken tacos, beef tacos, bean burritos and nachos. The food was not that great. The nachos were okay. My husband and I both had stomach aches and bad heartburn. My husband had very bad smelling gas, even into the next day. I really wanted to like this place. The inside needs a really good cleaning. Affordable and tastes good. I like their burritos. I generally eat three at a time and I go easy on the red sauce. Very consistent taste to their food. The food is fresh but not fancy. The staff I know there are great fun to talk with (mostly in my limited Spanish although everyone speaks English). When I'm in a rush or need a meal as I'm heading out to work, this is my go-to place. They have a drive-thru too. Everything on the menu is pretty good in my opinion. Can hardly tell the difference between them... ground beef with Mexican type red sauce seasoning, lettuce, cheese in a hard fried tortilla. Decent... ordered two bean & cheese burritos and a quesadilla. No quesadilla in the bag when I got into my car. Oh well. The burritos were good and filling. The beans were tasty and the flour tortilla was soft and good sized too for $1.29. The "hot" sauce was totally a let down. I would change that up, quick. To the plus side, the place is super cheap. Does not feel at all authentic- the frozen burritos at 7-11 are as good. If you want mexican food, pleanty of taquerias that offer better chow for just a little more money. Maybe I'd like it more if I were still in college and had the munchies. read more

Everyone raves about this place. It wasn't the greatest. Not bad but still not great. Had the super nachos with chicken. Pretty much a large plate of Taco bell style food, not very much chicken and ok flavor. Maybe I'm picky about my Mexican food, but I like real cheese, lots of meat and good salsa on my nachos. read more

This place is basically exactly taco bell but with an espresso machine. We had to try it once. We mostly stopped for the coffee but couldn't pass up the opportunity to also try a taco and a burrito. If you like Taco Bell, you will like Taco Tree. read more
