We love this place! Always fresh food. My son always gets the nachos. But he has them separate. A box of tortillas and the sauce in another box so they don't get mushy. I love the veggie burrito. Every time we go to Grass Valley to visit family a stop at Taco Tree on the way is a must. This is my favorite Taco restaurant and I can eat it every day we are there and not get tired of the food. I wish they would spread out and take over all the taco bells. I have tried a number of things on the menu and they were all sooooo good. My kids are very picky eaters and we all love this place. I always noticed this place when I drove through Auburn on my way to Grass Valley and Nevada City and was always curious as to how it was as I am always looking for great mom and pop Mexican food rather than just chains. My wife stopped there one day after an appointment and told me how good it was. We went there the next day and loved it. For the price it can't be beat. Taco tree is one of the best places ever! Fresh ingredients, friendly people, low prices, and large servings. The super nacho, swamp style (meaning chips on the side) is the best thing on the menu. If you're on a healthy kick try their small taco salad (large comes with the large crunchy taco shell) or their veggie burrito. I have never had anything on the menu that I didn't like, and I've had just about everything. The only bad thing is that they used to serve frozen yogurt and they changed to shakes a few years ago. I have tried the TacoTree 3 x now and am still disappointed. I ordered their chicken bowl ( you pay $1 more for chicken) and I received a styrofoam container with the lid torn off. I was eating in the restaurant. Not only was the bowl a horrible sight, but I ordered 2 of them and one contained a silver dollar amount and the other was TWICE that. It was a container of onions, sauce, cheese, and VERY little chicken. That was it! Very overpriced for the flea market presentation and amount that was expensive. We had to get up and order nachos to make a meal. I am done taking my 3 kids and husband to this place. Too expensive for crappy food. read more

The lady who used to handle the drive-thru window was great and very professional. I don't know what happened to her but in her place the owner?/manager? has found an assortment of teens who are either very low on the IQ scale or have an unbelievable attitude toward their job. They might be OK for washing dishes in the back but they are incapable of handling the drive-thru. I plan to boycott for 2 months and use Taco Hell during that time. Summary: The food is fairly good and also cheap but forget about using the drive-thru until the boss finds he/she made a big mistake. read more

taco tree really disapointed me this time. they couldn't get a simple order right. I'm pretty sure it's those lazy employees that they have. Even though i ordered the food through drive thru and there weren't that many people inside or in the drive thru (it was 10:30-ish), the majority of them were just standing around, laughing it up, thinking "hahaha... we can handle this simple order. we got this. no problem-o." the food wasn't even that good!! I got nachos, tacos, and burritos and ALL the food had what appeared to be a spoonful of meat, beans and cheese and a handful of nachos!!!! I asked for some hot sauce and they only gave me 5 mild sauce packets!!!! I didn't bother to check the order because in the PAST, they were good with getting the orders right and satisfying their customers. Nowadays it's just serve the food as fast as you can, just give them a spoonful of the meat, cheese and beans, but charge them regular price. This was the last time I was going to come here. Cheap food and overpriced , my daughter wanted a little side of salsa and was charged $0.83 for a small cup after we just spent $20.00 and she was given a order number to wait 5 min for some generic store bought salsa that they probably just poured out of a bottle. Also we paid almost $3.00 for the tiniest enchilada that just looked and tasted slapped together, we will not be going back and advise others to spend your money on something better. read more

My Daughter and I walked in today since we were down the street at an appointment. Yuk! The place was a total pigsty, trash all over the floor and tables and the employees were just sitting around and could care less that we were standing at the counter. We waited and since no one would help us and the place was so dirty, we walked out. Well, we should have just driven up Hwy 49 and again go back to Jim Boys the best Mexican Restaurant that we have frequented. What a difference, always so neat and clean and the employees treated us so caring and kind as customers should be treated. Yes, we as customers make their restaurant a success. But the biggest thing about Jim Boys is that the food is spectacular! If you think that Taco Tree is the best Mexican food in Auburn, then it is obvious that you have not eaten at Jim Boys! Where is the Owner of Taco Tree, this horrible establishment? It is obvious that they could care less since they are running a filthy restaurant and also employee worthless staff!
