Better be careful when you come and eat here. Did you know that they pay a fee for reserving their street parking to a local gang that's located in Echo Park? I found out the hard way. My friend from NY stayed over during Memorial Day weekend and left her car parked in the street, but she parked where normally the Two Zone truck usually resides. Well, sad to say that all her tires were slashed. The worst part, is that the Taco Zone truck turns a blind eye even though my friends car was parked right behind them. I asked our neighbors and it seems like my friend was not the only victim. It has happened in our neighborhood plenty of times. If anyone parks in their space they will call a person to come and slash your tires as a warning not to park on their spot, which is public city property. Has anyone in Echo Park, that lives on Alvarado experienced similar incidents? If so, please let us know, we might be able to take legal action. Be safe when coming to eat here. It can be dangerous if the business is hiring local, illegal, gang muscle! read more

I'm getting kinda territorial over my taco truck. Like a fan of a band who gets pissed when new fans start rolling in and bumping you outta place in line and spilling drinks on you. Although it sits outside Vons on Alvarado, usually from 8-9 pm to just about 2-3 am, it originally started outside Auto Zone just down the street over 5 years ago. Hence the name Taco Zone with the same design aspects and color on the sign. The late hours definitely cater to the bar/club crowds, and Mexican is the best when you've been drinking. However, many a local family and residents go just because the food is so damn good. The meat is of good quality (you can taste the quality), and each bite of a burrito or taco is savory and delicious. Additionally, the tortillas are always perfectly crisp and delicious. The menu has tacos, burritos, quesadillas and mulitas of beef and pork incarnations, y pollo tambien!. The women are friendly, provide good service and cook the best in taco truck fare around. Good selection of sodas and excellent horchata w/ a wonderful salsa and veggie bar. I LOVE TACO ZONE!! and so will you. read more

The Cabeza is a transcendental experience. Don't get weirded out because it's head meat, don't screw this up. Get the Cabeza. Taco, Mulita, Burrito, whatever. These people are friendly as hell and this is by far my favorite late night taco spot. taco zone is all that one could ever want from a taco truck or a one night stand. pure unadulterated pleasure, quick, dirty, and you'll feel like crap in the morning. but unlike a one night stand, it's always worth the consequences. i suggest the suadero, or the chorizo. a lot of my friends are vegetarians and they rave about the veggie quesadillas and burritos as well. if you live anywhere near the zone you owe yourself a late night drunken taco. read more

My friends and I came here late at night after a concert at the Greek Theatre. I got 2 pastors (pork), 1 lengua (tongue), and 1 asada (steak) for $6.25. There was an open salsa bar with different sauces, onions, cilantro, etc. The tacos were SO good .. I wolfed them down within minutes. The location is right in the middle of a huge parking lot that would probably normally look pretty sketchy, but those are the best places to find good food right? I always get a Veggie Burrito and a cheese quesadilla and I eat it in my freaking stupid car listening to Howard Stern in the Von's parking lot. I dip my burrito in the MIND blowing red hot sauce, and the green avacado sauce is bonkers good too. Everything is good, I don't eat meat but I'll tell you the meat smells godamn good. Fuck. You gotta love the Taco Zone. It's always there. Nowadays there are trucks everwhere but I'm sorry, the TZ is the best I've ever had. Mainly for that red hot sauce. This is an Echo Park Staple. I don't know if the ladies working are big on gringos though.. I mean thats fine I guess, Echo Park is so overloaded with hipster douche you can't blame someone for noticing that half the neighborhood is suburban white brats all of a sudden. Everyone pretty much blows when you take a step back except for nude 18 year old asian lesbian sisters, but Taco zone doesn't blow, it's the greatest. My first post in my new home of the lovely Los Angeles goes to the tasty Taco Zone Truck. I went to school in San Diego where I could get the most authentic tacos anytime I wanted and after spending a summer abroad WITHOUT tacos, one of my first ventures out on the town to eat some good ol' LA cheap eats had to be tacos. My roommate told me about a truck parked outside of Von's and so we were off - me, my roommate, and boyfriend. After a slightly hectic 5 min drive over, we finally arrived at Von's. There was a small crowd outside the truck signifying that this place must be delicious. While we waited about 20 minutes for our food, we stocked up on the awesome salsas and sauces. Tacos come plain with just the meat and white corn tortilla so if you're an onion and cilantro lover like I am, make sure you fill up the complimentary plastic baggies. We ordered a ton of various meats, suadero, pastor, lengua, cabeza.. got home and opened up our sizzling foiled tacos and couldn't figure out which was which. Didn't matter though, they were delicious and surprisingly, not as oily as my previous go to taco joint down in San Diego. read more

it's always a bummer when my friends and I make a dash for this taco truck after a night of drinking and they're CLOSED. however, when they are open they dish out some of the best tacos in LA. no frills, no bs. this place is unbelievable. the food is so magnificent when i took my first bite i fell to the ground in disbelief and tears of happiness streamed from my face onto my plate of chicken tacos. when thy tears combined with the tacos a miraculous golden glowing light shot into the sky an signaled the second coming of christ himself. when jesus arrived he was politely greeted by the beautiful angelic soul that is the owner of taco zone. she offered him one bite of her specialty green avocado salsa and when the first drop hit the lamb of gods tounge he was so delighted that his plans to begin the apocalypse were postponed for the length of 300,000 years.... a long story short, you need to eat here! you have to eat here. read more

I've gotta say, I don't know why these tacos are so tasty, but they are. I'm sure there's a million taco trucks and stands in LA where people do tacos the same way, but somehow, these are superior to most of them. Whenever I'm in the hood at the right time (as far as I know, they're only at the Von's Friday and Saturday nights, until about 3am, perfect to soak up some alcohol) I get me some of these tacos. growing up in the la area i have had the opportunity to eat at many many taco trucks... of all the ones that i have eaten at (many are here on yelp) this one is my favorite... well sort of... please let me explain... the staff if super cool, the suadero is killer and the quesadillas are huge! the food comes out quickly and i like the fact that the onion/cilantro and sauces are self serve... it does get crowded at times, but the crowd is always a mixed bag of people... great place to eat though... now why do i say that this is my fav sort of... well there is another taco truck in pasadena that i think is better but they only sell tacos, so this one is better because of the selection... read more

I was POISONED. My friend and I were referred to this truck and were very excited. We ordered the same thing, Suadero Taco, Suadero Molita, and Asada Taco. The next day we were both vomiting, both had diarrhea, and both were in pain. My friend had to go to the HOSPITAL because he was so dehydrated. I will for sure not be going back. Yep, super yummy. This weekend was my first experience with taco trucks. We tried two, the Bellevue Steakhouse and Taco Zone Truck. I really liked them both. My favorite Taco Zone was the beef tongue and buche. That green sauce was pure yummness too. The ladies were super nice, as were the patron. I preferred the asada at Bellevue, but both places are dynomite, and had me praying that the inevitable heartburn would not be so severe as I continually stuffed my face. read more

So I've been reading about this place for quite a while here on Yelp and decided to check it out. I got tacos of Carne Asade, Cabeza, Tripas, Suadero and Al Pastor. I gotta say that I wasn't particuliarly impressed with the tacos. The Cabeza was probably the best ones, soft fatty goodness! The Carne Asada was like ground beef it was cut so small. The Tripas were pretty decent, I like them crispier, but it did have a nice flavor. The Suadero was a huge dissappointment. It didn't even taste like suadero. It was really mushy like the carne asada and like my Tripas, I like them crispy. But even without the crispiness, it lacked flavor in my opinion. The Al Pastor........ didn't seem like al pastor at all. The salsas were nice though. Oh, and the tortillas were dry. It seems that they don't dip them in oil before they put them on the comal. I did pass by two outlaw taco carts on the way up Glendale Bl that give me reason to go back to the area though. read more

Came here for the first time Monday night around 10pm. Got 3 different types of tacos, they all tasted the same - bland and SUPER dry. The sign on the truck was faded so I asked the lady if it was Taco Zone, she said yes. Maybe it was a fake truck? In any case I will never go to this truck again. read more

Came here after some shows at the echo. Get there before the hipsters do or you will be waiting in one hell of a line. A great taco place always has, fresh savory carnitas and al pastor. authentic mexican cheese and some great salsas. Taco Zone has all of them.
