My friend lives near this truck. We went at about 10pm on a Sunday night. I was really impressed with the speed they are able to produce the tacos when you order (just takes a few seconds). Their salsas and tortillas were incredibly fresh. One very apparent criticism is that the brisket meat and beef cheek meat were VERY dry. I'm not really impressed. I have been to several Taco locations in East LA, Downtown Los Angeles, Pomona, the San Fernando Valley. This place is ok. Nothing special. I might give this place another try but overall just a regular average food truck. I came to try this place out due to all the reviews. My friend recommended this place. Tried suadero, pastor, asada and pollo and a molita. The meat was so dry and salty, it was almost like jerky. I couldn't tell what was what? I like some grease or juiciness in my taco meat. The molita was good, but the dehydrated meat was so hard in between the cheese. The good thing was all the GREAT salsas they have to douse the tacos with. The guacamole salsa and the green salsa were really amazing. I wanted to love this place! There are a lot of good things about this truck. The first is that the food is good of course, that's a given for a positive review. One of the best things though is that it creates this random melting pot of LA denizens -- all races and social strata are hanging out laughing in a random grocery store parking lot. It's a great vibe, and it's truly LA. Show up around midnight to get the full experience. Taco Salsa is the food truck that has taken up residence in the Von's parking lot during the day time (not to be confused with Taco Zone, a superior but not outstanding institution that is there during the evening.) My friend and I were curious about Von's new neighbor: since moving to Los Angeles over a year ago, I have never given up on my furious hunt for most delicious tacos in the city. Taco Salsa piqued my interest because of the lack of information surrounding it - could a spot so obscure possess the most delicious tacos in my neighborhood? Obviously, Echo Park has quite a variety of tacos, but none of them are mind-blowingly delicious in that entirely unparalleled and majestic way that I yearn for. This inability to settle led me to Taco Salsa, where I ordered a Carnitas Torta. A long wait ensued for my supposedly delicious sandwich even though there were no other customers. After about ten minutes, a man ran into the taco truck with a bag from Von's: it became apparent that he had run to Von's to buy bread because they were out when we ordered. My hope did not fade initially, because Von's has okay bread and I wanted to believe that my lunch would be enjoyable. It was a disappointment. The carnitas was way too salty and fatty and I was stuck at a water fountain for at least five minutes immediately after. The bread was mediocre and the meat juices immediately made it mushy and soggy. My friend's Carne Asada was slightly more edible but still nothing special. The only worthwhile part of the torta was a generous helping of avocado, though this certainly did not make up for the mediocrity. I felt kind of queasy the rest of the day. I regret not walking the extra couple blocks to Tacos Arizas or Maya's. Don't make my mistake. read more

The Suadero burito or tacos are where it's at! I have never in my life had meat from a taco truck that was so tender and deliscious, EVER!! I fantasize about it all the time.....but that being said, I rarely can catch then because I wake up early and usually have dinner around 7pm. My favorite late night taco truck in the neighborhood, and I'm not the only one cause the line can sometimes be quiet long. Service is quick and easy and don't forget to fill up a container or two of the green avocado salsa, it's the perfect companion to anything in tortilla form ordered from the menu. Friends took me here 2 weeks ago....Now I'm a regular! I am so grateful that Taco Zone is only around the corner from my house. Their trading hours are really convenient, especially if you work late. The truck is parked next to the Vons parking lot, so there is always plenty of room to stop and park your car. The asada tacos are amazing! It costs $1.50 per taco and $2.00 per mulita. Extremely affordable. Very polite workers. 10/10, would definitely recommend! read more

Better be careful when you come and eat here. Did you know that they pay a fee for reserving their street parking to a local gang that's located in Echo Park? I found out the hard way. My friend from NY stayed over during Memorial Day weekend and left her car parked in the street, but she parked where normally the Two Zone truck usually resides. Well, sad to say that all her tires were slashed. The worst part, is that the Taco Zone truck turns a blind eye even though my friends car was parked right behind them. I asked our neighbors and it seems like my friend was not the only victim. It has happened in our neighborhood plenty of times. If anyone parks in their space they will call a person to come and slash your tires as a warning not to park on their spot, which is public city property. Has anyone in Echo Park, that lives on Alvarado experienced similar incidents? If so, please let us know, we might be able to take legal action. Be safe when coming to eat here. This truck got my friends and I through college. Be adventurous, and try one of the off-cuts of meat. They are delicious.

Ah this one is sooooo bomb! the Saudero burritos are OFF THE CHARTS! They always have long lines so that is a good sign. Plus the wait is not even long at all. They are quick and wait on average is about 5 minutes tops. The self-help fixings are good and fresh, they understand you when you're ordering, and it's not expensive at all. Burritos are $5.50 and worth every penny! Just don't go with super high expectations. In fact, don't expect anything good at all and you'll enjoy the food on your own merit. Try the militias too. They're like these little meat quesadillas (corn tortilla) and they absolutely rock. Parking is easy for this area in Echo Park too since it's in front of the VONS parking lot. read more

My wife and I were recently married and had our reception at a friend's backyard in Echo Park. We bought out the entire truck for 3 hours of food. Not only was their service and quality as awesome as when its parked on the street but its a great deal and a way to spend money locally. Consider 'renting' the truck for a party in the neighborhood. Great late night spot. The suadero, a soft-thigh beef, is the way to go. Pile on the salsa at the makeshift condiment selection bar-table thingy. Order in Spanish to impress your friends. The ladies in the kitchen truck have some sort of magical aura that makes everyone fall in love with them. Eating a taco on a sidewalk at one in the morning is a great bonding experience between you and your friends. The Cabeza is a transcendental experience. Don't get weirded out because it's head meat, don't screw this up. Get the Cabeza. Taco, Mulita, Burrito, whatever. I'm getting kinda territorial over my taco truck. Like a fan of a band who gets pissed when new fans start rolling in and bumping you outta place in line and spilling drinks on you. Although it sits outside Vons on Alvarado, usually from 8-9 pm to just about 2-3 am, it originally started outside Auto Zone just down the street over 5 years ago. Hence the name Taco Zone with the same design aspects and color on the sign. The late hours definitely cater to the bar/club crowds, and Mexican is the best when you've been drinking. However, many a local family and residents go just because the food is so damn good. The meat is of good quality (you can taste the quality), and each bite of a burrito or taco is savory and delicious. Additionally, the tortillas are always perfectly crisp and delicious. The menu has tacos, burritos, quesadillas and mulitas of beef and pork incarnations, y pollo tambien!. The women are friendly, provide good service and cook the best in taco truck fare around. Good selection of sodas and excellent horchata w/ a wonderful salsa and veggie bar. I LOVE TACO ZONE!! and so will you. read more
