Taco Stop #3 during my ATX weekend. I thought my first two stops were good but, Tacodeli is kind of amazing. Since Tacodeli has daily specials, Sean F. said Saturday was the day to go because of the Delibelly (Braised Richardson Farms pork belly, Goodflow honey tomatillo serrano salsa, fresh avocado, cilantro & onion.) And, oh my goodness was he right. The Delibelly is in a league of its own. LA street tacos can't even touch this. There was a nice crisp to the outside of the pork belly - the way proper carnitas is (crisp on the outside but melt in your mouth delicious). It was so flavorful that no extra sauce was even necessary. The other daily special taco - Ceviche Yucatan (Lime cured mahi in a colorful assortment of roasted red and poblano peppers, serrano pepper, grilled corn and purple onion) was the perfect refreshing counterpoint to the rich, flavorful Delibelly. Also had: *The Jess Special Breakfast Taco (Eggs scrambled with our migas mix and topped with Monterrey Jack cheese and fresh sliced avocado): The Deilbelly & Ceviche overshadowed this. It was good but I think Taco Joint's breakfast tacos are better *Roberto's Brazo Fuerte Dip & Chips (A power combo of queso, guacamole, pico & Akaushi ground beef): I love that putting guac in queso is a thing in Texas. Adds a texture and richness to the already decadent queso. I like that Tacodeli's is less Nacho-cheesey like Torchy's. More heavy cream maybe? For my LA friends, Delibelly seems like the Chipotle of Taco places in ATX. Consciously sourcing their foods, organic, etc but still "fast food". Open in LA please! read more

Very high quality taco place. The pork belly is a must try taco. The staff at the Rosedale location is fast and efficient.

I work a half block away and walk over to get food all the time from here . Today I didn't have an awesome experience . I got my usual Aguacate salad and tortilla soup. Today I would say 75 percent of the avocado was rotten. If you've gotten this salad before it has a LOT of avocado in it . It wasn't just brown and tasted good , I tasted it and it was rotten avocado. Unfortunately it ruined my whole salad. Also while I was waiting for my food an employee in the kitchen had a crazy sneeze attack and was walking around with no mask on. That was the dude that packaged my food . For healthy, innovative tacos, Tacodeli can't be beat. Not typical Tex-Mex tacos, not street/trailer style tacos, not Mexico City tacos. (I love all of those, too.) Fresh, delicious, creative, and healthy. I've eaten there at least 2-3 times a month for the past 24 years, ever since they opened their first location. Everything is good, but FOR GOD'S SAKE, ask for corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas. I'm sure the flour ones are fine, but flour tortillas basically shouldn't even exist. read more

I've only been here for breakfast but it was so wonderful the first morning, I went right back the next day! After looking online at the menu, I decided to go with The Otto and a make your own option with egg, chorizo, queso fresco, and avocado. Both were amazing - the Otto with the perfect combination of crunch from the bacon and creaminess from the beans and avocado and honestly, how can you go wrong with any of the ingredients in the make your own? With the addition of the salsa dona, my tastebuds were blown away and my belly was full, which ended up being a good thing because the next part of my day included getting lost on Town Lake for 2 hours... Our friends introduced us to this place and we love it. We had ordered food for pick up and the tacos weren't soggy and everything tasted great. Love the tacos and the queso dip. My husband and I both got the blue plate combo where it comes with a choice of 2 tacos and rice and beans. For the tacos, we ordered the cowboy taco and mojo fish taco. Tacodeli seems to be an Austin staple and was recommended on several food blogs. The fact that they also have BYOB was a major plus. However, I am sad to say Tacodeli is the breakfast buffet of breakfast tacos. For my first breakfast taco I ordered The Otto. Extremely reminiscent of a breakfast buffet. The bacon has a stale bland quality, like bacon that has been sitting around all morning in a buffet tray. Refried beans, while adding a needed body to the taco are bland. My second taco was the Migas taco, which is essentially scrambled eggs with cheese and tomato. Eggs are bland, and the texture is off as if it has been sitting around for bit. Scarce onion and tomato add some nuance. I do not recommend Tacodeli. read more

Had a poor experience here. If you have any dietary restrictions/preferences this probably ain't the place for you. They made a mistake packaging our group's taco order -- and non-veg tacos ended up with someone who'd placed a veg order. Apparently they don't have a way to individually label tacos?! Seems weird. The manager's first instinct was to pass the blame to Uber Eats, but the mistake was clearly on Tacodeli. To his credit, manager did relent and make good after I pushed back. I originally rated this place at a four star but am bumping this restaurant up to a five star! The fantastico has an amazing blend of chicken, sour cream, and whatever else they put in there . It is simply one of a kind and I just have not been able to recreate it or find anything else like it anywhere else in Austin. Get the Doña sauce with all your tacos. It is definitely a game changer. Although a bit spicy, it adds a very rich flavor that is unbeatable. Please go somewhere else for tacos in Austin. My buddies and I were craving some tacos Sunday afternoon, but we were in a rush and our other options within close proximity were closed. We decided to give this place a try. The chicken breast and shrimp tasted like rubber, and the onions were adequate at best. Nobody I was with really enjoyed what they ordered. I may be spoiled with the caliber of tacos in this city, and I can't speak for Tacodeli's breakfast tacos, but the fact that three hungry young men wouldn't even finish their lunch is rare. From their breakfast menu, I enjoy the Jess Special, but also love the build-your-own options. Price varies based on the number of items in your taco, but even the 4-item option rings in at under $3 each. One thing I've discovered here is that mashed potatoes are surprisingly good in breakfast tacos. How is it possible that I haven't reviewed TacoDeli yet? TacoDeli is one of my favorite OG Austin taco joints. It's solidly on my "must eat at" list for visitors. Their queso is a solid top five for Austin and my only gripe against TacoDeli is that they're not open for dinner. (My waistline thanks you, however). I suggest going on a Saturday since the best daily tacos are available then. (Don't miss the "taco of the moment" specials either). I eat here once a week, so consider that when I'm writing this review. The red salsa is the best in town and the chips are always fresh and amazing. The tortillas are sometimes great, sometimes not, so that's a coin toss. The eggs are never hot, so if you add cold cheese and cold salsa you will end up with cold eggs. The vegan options are not great. Their signature vegan taco is black beans, avocado and pico. Come on, Taco Deli. Step up your vegan game. I'd eat there more than once a week if you do. The staff is so, so, so helpful and the quality of the ingredients is second to none. The tacos are "pricey" if you're comparing them to your average taco, but that would be comparing apples to oranges, Tacodeli tacos are on a different, higher level than other tacos. I sometimes eat there for 4, 5 days in a row. The tacos really are that good, the staff is so on point, mgmt is doing a great job, it's just a really great spot to enjoy a unique, sublime combination of flavors. By the way, I brought my parents, with strong Mexican roots, to this place, and an hour later they were like, "We can still taste those tacos...the taste is so amazing." You can never taste any other tacos an hour later. There's just something about these tacos that makes them so potent. I recommend the Cowboy, the Picosito, the Delibelly, the Salmon taco, the Akaushi, and the Conquistador, if the Conquistador's available (it's a special taco, they have special tacos that aren't available all the time). They should make Tacodeli food trucks and sprinkle them around town in the areas we don't have a Tacodeli close by. Just a thought, a request, shall we say...more like a demand, hahaha. Seriously. Also, the United States should designate Tacodeli as "A Restaurant of Cultural, Historical, or Aesthetic Significance" and preserve the secret recipes somewhere, to be opened only in case something calamitous were to ever happen to the original Tacodelis, like a time capsule, you know. These were my favorite tacos during our trip to Austin and Houston. We came here for breakfast tacos and definitely weren't disappointed. Ordered at the counter and got the Jess Special (with migas and avocado) and Popeye (egg whites and spinach) for myself. They will bring your order out to you by calling your name, if you order in. The restaurant is spacious so plenty of seating available. Two tacos were enough to fill me up for the morning and both were really flavorful despite having such simple ingredients. But this review is more in response to how they're handling Coronavirus. I stopped in earlier today and the entire staff was being very cautious and were helping to eliminate high touch point areas (i.e. instead of having the self serve salsas, they had a dedicated person to hand out salsas). I got a free gift card from a raffle and it was suppose to have $20 in it. I think there was some mishap and they didn't put the money on the card, but they fixed it right away and gave me $10. I intended to come here for their amazing breakfast tacos that I miss dearly since moving out of Austin, but was disappointed to find that we'd missed their breakfast hours and had to get the lunch tacos. Knowing tacodeli, I also had great expectations, and expectations exceeded. We went on a Monday, so I got their daily taco (steak) and the "special of the time" (or something of that sort) taco (fish), (yes yes I'm a sucker for limited time items..) and I was almost glad that I ventured outside their breakfast menu because TacoDeli has now become my favorite taco place for all things taco. the tacos were... alright. nothing special. in a way, i guess they were good for a gentrified taco place. my order kinda took forever and my friend got her food way before i did, but they apologized about the wait. I got the carne asada and the shrimposito. i ordered the shrimposito with no queso fresco which may have been the reason it looked like they just slapped saucy shrimp on a tortilla. but nonetheless, it didn't taste that bad. for the firey look of the shrimp though i kinda expected it to have a stronger flavor kick. the carne asada was alright - the meat was a tad tough but personally i don't mind that, and i found that the meat tasted quite well seasoned. both tacos were a little pricy for what you get. overall it's what i expected from a gentrified taco place, not too good not too bad. read more

This location is just as consistent as the others. I have ordered twice to-go and my orders have never been wrong. The Salsa Dona is consistent and keeps me coming back. My go-to breakfast tacos are the Otto and the Freakin' Vegan. I've never had better black beans than the ones sold at Tacodeli! This morning I had the worst breakfast taco I've ever had. My go to breakfast taco is bacon, beans, potatoes, and eggs on flour. The bacon was burnt and cold, the beans tasted fine but way, way too much added, the potatoes (which do say mashed) were whipped and thin and probably instant if I had to guess, carton egg beaters instead of eggs, and the flour tortilla was fine but like any store bought tortilla. Came here on a Thursday at noon. I didn't read the fine print that breakfast tacos aren't served past 11am during the week. In any case, there's tons of amazing vegetarian and pescetarian options which is a major key for me. I had the Tikin Xic (salmon), shrimp taco, and mojo fish. They each had a little kick, and some of them had delicious pickled veggies. It all tasted super fresh and pretty tasty. The mushroom tacos were okay (tough to follow Torchy's), but nothing to write home about. The sweet potato one was a bit mushy, I would pass on it. The wait wasn't unreasonable, but certainly wasn't short. I would come back when I'm in the mood for healthier taco options (as compared to many of the food trucks). read more
