It was love at first bite. I was lucky enough to work close to the Spyglass location in Austin and when I moved to Dallas in 2011 there was unfortunately no Tacodeli at that time. Lo and behold the wonderful owners of Tacodeli decided to expand their market to Dallas a few years later, so Tacodeli and I could continue our relationship. One of the reasons I love them is because their food is super fresh. A guy that worked there once told me they don't have freezers...just refrigerators. That's pretty impressive and explains why I'm addicted to them. I love the fact that their tacos aren't super unhealthy and don't leave you feeling heavy (lookin' at you Torchy's Tacos). They offer corn, flour, and wheat tortillas: a lot of taco places do not offer the wheat option, so thanks for that Tacodeli! If you end up loving Tacodeli as much as I do, make sure you join their VIP club so you can rack up points and get dollar credits! The staff is very friendly, they know me by face now, hah. The restaurant is clean and new, albeit a little small for seating during lunchtime. My favorite items: Breakfast taco: potato, egg, cheese, and jalapeno -- the potatoes are not actual crunchy potatoes, they use the mashed potatoes but it's still so good! Ensalada Tacodeli Guacamole is delish Mashed potatoes - I used to love getting this as a side, but beware it's probably unhealthy because it's super creamy... yum. Food was top notch. There tacos are great without gimmicks--meat was tender and ingredients were fresh. Get the "Cowboy," but sub avocado for the guacamole. The guacamole has Serrano peppers in it. Friendly staff--Louis was at the door ready to walk us through the menu and make recommendations. AJ was friendly and engaging when he brought our tacos. Fun tables. Definitely a repeat spot. Just like I stated in my review for Velvet Taco, I think there's something wrong my taco selecting abilities. I attended a work lunch with coworkers here and while the line was crazy, the wait to order wasn't that long. Maybe 10 minutes, tops. We weren't able to find any seating indoors because the place was packed at noon, but there were plenty of tables outdoors and the wait for our food wasn't long at all. Which was surprising. As for the food, I ordered the Happy Taco, and there wasn't anything happy about it. No doctoring could fix this taco. So I dumped all the contents and ate the tortilla. However, everyone else at the table enjoyed their food, especially the salad people. If I'm ever forced to go back, I'm definitely trying their salads. In other news...this is twice now that I've had subpar tacos in Dalals, but again, it it's not them - it's me. Yup, it sounds like I'm definitely breaking up with tacos. :( read more

Don't even bother ordering online. I've been here plenty of times and this last experience was the worst ever. I ordered online and showed up a few minutes before my estimated pickup time. Now I get it, they're busy but I proceeded to wait 40 MINUTES for 4 TACOS. This is a quick eats place. I shouldn't have to wait that long in the first place, but why even bother having online ordering if you're going to skip them over in favor of people who ordered at the restaurant. No apology for waiting 40 minutes for basic tacos, and to add insult they automatically added a tip without asking. Why am I tipping so they can ignore my order and others who ordered online. My daughter and I arrived at Tacodeli at 2:57 and they close at 3. We didn't know that but once informed we rushed to get our food. The people were as friendly as you can expect them to be watching two people coming in at the last minute. I ordered the shrimp taco and I thought it was okay. I missed the cheese. Thick, gloppy, salty sauces that appear to be simply ladelled over the filling, like chicken, for example, instead of being the sauce that the filling was cooked in, together. Ingredients do seem to be fresh. $12+ for 3. No pineapple/citrus bite for the al pastor; no green/tomatillo tang for the puerco verde. Third one--they recommended--honestly no distinctive/discernable flavor I can identify--just thick, heavy, not-spicy, salty orange paste smothering shredded chicken. read more

I was at this location on Sunday. I had just finished refilling my fountain drink. I walked outside and was leaving holding a plastic lid and straw for my coke. Just as I took the straw paper wrapper off I saw an employee pushing a trash can by me. I looked in it and proceeded to throw the straw wrapper into the trash. Just as I did, the employee hit me on the back with her fist. I immediately told those I was with and went inside asking for the manager. I was first pointed to one, then that person told me someone else was the manager. I approached the manager. I told her what had happened and she didn't appear concerned. I stressed kindly the importance of the subject. Her employee had hit me in the back. She still didn't appear concerned. I asked to make report. She said it's take a minute to print something out. She went back to her computer located in her kitchen just in front of me. She handed me an incident report. I asked her if she understood that this was a serious matter and stated her employee should he corrected and fired. She asked me to point her employee out. I described her. She called her employee by name saying that it was Sophia and Sophia was the only one who wore glasses. She handed me an incident report (which is what an employee uses when an employee has been injured themselves). I knew that the manager did not seem educated on how to handle this incident. I asked for her name. It is Yessica. I asked for her district managers name. She said his name is Dan. AN EMPLOYEE CANNOT HIT A CUSTOMER. This is unsettling and should be rectified and solved immediately. read more

When I think breakfast tacos I think taco deli. They have so many options. Everything is organic and fresh. I also love their lunch tacos on the Carne Assad's and a salad with avocado is to die for. The one taco I ordered had many of the things you look for in tacos--freshness, flavor, heartiness and savory. On both of my visits here I had an order of the pozole and am definitely a fan. For a quick taco this place is great. I had pork verde, the pork was tender and flavorful inside a soft warm homemade tortilla. Our daughter had 2 of the Otto breakfast tacos and said the black beans inside are the best. Hubby had the Cowboy that had tasty tender beef and a chicken taco which he said was ok. Much like Torchy's Tacos, Tacodeli offers artisan and gourmet tacos at a price that will leave you missing the cheap taqueria tacos served at authentic Mexican joints. Nonetheless, the tacos I got were good and I especially like the queso. I was surprised at enjoying the queso because other Yelp reviews had said it was watery. Mine was just fine. The chips were OK, with the queso ultimately being the best dish on my table. While the food was fair I would not come back and pay the price I did (13ish dollars) for a drink, two tacos, rice and beans. We came here because the person I was with is vegen and this place does offer vegan and vegetarian friendly items. For a vegan/vegetarian this place may be of more value. If you are neither then it is just OK considering the price. read more

Taco Deli was a favorite of mine in Austin, then it came to Oak Cliff then Walnut Hill! They have a wide selection of tacos and you get to choose corn or flour on all tacos. The food is claimed to be "farm to taco" so the ingredients are fresh. My favorites are the migas taco and the freakin vegan for breakfast tacos. The shrimp taco is good too. They also have tacos with mashed potatoes. I don't know of any other taco place that does that. I get corn to be healthy even though their flour tortillas are awesome. The queso is my favorite food item here. The salsas are good too and the hotter ones are really spicy. You order at the front then they call your name and bring your good. There are so many taco places in Dallas I wouldn't say Taco Deli is the best. This particular location seems to run out of things all the time, coffee dispensers are always empty, creamer out, you order soup and pay for it only for them to tell you they're out after ordering. read more

Tonight my husband tried to order food for pick up for our anniversary. We have an infant at home and have barely been out. Unfortunately he made a mistake with the online order, which we only found out after he had gone to the wrong location. The manager at this location was so incredibly gracious and kind. Delicious!! I had 3 tacos- the conquistador, cowboy, and AKAUSHI HANGER. All 3 were very tasty and flavorful- I highly recommend!

These are Not True Mexican tacos. Instead of mixing egg with Chorizo as true tacos, here they sprinkle it on top. In fact anything you order with egg they will have sprinkle of ingredients. Again not a true taco! They do tend to focus on Organic though. I would prefer Torchy's tacos instead. Overall it was just Ok for me. read more
