Closed at 10am. Waited for a half hour before leaving empty handed.

They do not open at 10am. We went and stood in line for a good half hour and they never opened. I'm not sure when they open but it isn't 10am.

This place has been running for 30 years and I can see why. I went there during my short trip to Dallas while strolling in the area. First was at night and again in the morning. No matter the time of the day there is always a line and everything made fresh to the order. There is a little bit of wait time but tacos came out piping hot. I had chicken tacos and they were bomb. The only thing missing is a hint of lime but it tasted amazing for such a small price of just $2.75 per taco. At night I had Mexican street corn. A huge cup of steaming corn with cheese, red sauce, sour screen and butter was just $5. If you are going during the day, just wait in the car bcos there is hardly any shade and in Dallas heat, you become a taco yourself. There is nothing to write about the ambiance. It's just street food but it's a few streets away from the main vibrant bishop art district so it's much quieter but still safe.

Still my favorite street taco spot in Dallas! Depending on the time you arrive it might be a line but definitely worth the wait.

Humble exterior, great, bafflingly great tacos

This is a weird review to make. So it's a little sketch. Which usually doesn't bother me. But there was a couple of guys who were asking for money. I ended up giving them my Coke because this place only takes cash and I didn't have much cash. So that was the bad part. Little sketch. However, the tacos, I've been thinking about this, I think they were the best tacos I've ever had. Maybe not. But I think they were. AI recommended me to try certain tacos. It was mostly wrong. Both my wife and I agreed that surprisingly their best tacos were the chicken tacos. Insanely flavorful. How can you make chicken taste that good? Bistec were great. Lengua was delish. Chorizo was better than chorizo. When you're talking about the best tacos you've ever had possibly, it comes down to execution and details. The ratio of onions and cilantro was spot on. The flavor was out of this world. The corn tortillas soaked up all the flavor grease in a good way. It doesn't make sense that tacos this good come from this place. But then again great things come in small packages

El Si Hay has the best tacos in Dallas--hands down. I've been a regular for years, and their food is consistently simple, delicious, and spot-on. My go-to is the Al Pastor, but honestly, everything on the menu is great. They offer both green and red sauces--get both. The green has a nice kick with tons of flavor, while the red is bold, smoky, and seriously spicy. You can choose your toppings and opt for either corn or flour tortillas, depending on your preference. Every so often, there's a vendor outside serving fresh, made-to-order elotes. Don't skip that--it's an incredible bonus. A few tips: They're cash only, there's no seating, and there's always a line. But trust me--this local gem is absolutely worth it.

Legit tacos and elote that are worth the wait. Cash only at this spot. Elote is cut off the cob as you wait and it is masterful. If you get with the spicy stuff it is pretty darn spicy. Green salsa also pretty spicy but not so noticeable when on your tacos. Tacos served with lime wedges and onions on the side. Basic, authentic and delicious. Every time you drive by you will see a line. Do yourself a favor and stop.

Classic original tacos! As of Jan2026 I got 10tacos & large Horchata: $31.00 (6-bisteak 2-Barbacoa 2- al pastor) You have a choice on corn or flour tortillas (I always go corn) Stumbled on this place a few years ago and only now decided to take pics and leave a review. **Please know it's CASH ONLY + No Seating** They speak English & Spanish - don't be worried lol. Same with the Elote man around the corner...yes they have an Elote cart! I see a lot of 'non regulars' get up to the window after waiting in line dumbfounded. YES there will likely be a line, it's for good reason. 1st line for ordering Tacos && 2nd line is usually for Elote. Simple tacos, but done right. They do have their off days where it feels like the tortillas aren't hitting as the usually do, but the are dealing with a lot of turnaround. Definitely go!! & try to eat them in the car soon as you get them, best when fresh from the window.

This little taco spot has quickly become my favorite in the area. It's just a small stand that looks about 100 sq ft., but they are pumping out good food. Limited menu of tacos (Al pastor, barbacoa, lengue, etc) and drinks (agua Frescas and Jarritos). Topping choices are onion, cilantro and a salsa. Cash only, and they don't have an ATM, so come prepared! You're outside to wait for your food and there's no seating so park close by so you can wait in your car for your order. I ordered a sampling of different tacos with the green salsa. Everything was fire, meat very flavorful. The barbacoa and al pastor were my favorite bites and the salsa made it even better.

Finally got the chance to visit Taqueria El Si Hay and all I can say is YES YES YES! Not only were my expectations high but they were exceeded! The size of the tacos were very large, way larger than I expected for a typical street taco. The establishment is small and walk up style. We also got our food very quickly. We got to try the bistec, chorizo, and barbacoa and they were amazing! The perfect lunch! We will definitely be back!

Finally got to try this famous taco spot that everyone has been raving about and it did not disappoint! The line was pretty long but it was so worth the wait. We tried almost all the flavors and bistek and chorizo really stood out. The meat was seasoned so well and juicy. The tacos are pretty small so definitely order multiples. There's no seating as it's a takeout spot. We were so hungry so we just tailgated by the car. This is a must try taco spot in Dallas!

    Lawrencia L.

First off this place accepts cash only! The tacos are delicious. I tried the chicken, carne asada and fajita. My favorite two were the carne asada and fajita.

    Kaitlyn D.

Excellent!!!! From the tacos to the horchata. 10/10! It is cash only! ATM inside gas station in the same lot. Super nice ladies! Got our food super quick.

Food still good but a 3 star rating due to presentation Hardly any meat on tacos! My family grandparents parents uncles have all been coming here for years since I can remember This used to be our go to spot. The long wait didn't matter because it was worth the flavor However, unfortunately, we have noticed the tortilla isn't cooked properly also they hardly put any meat on the tac anymore considering the price increase Don't get me wrong again the flavor is there. I just hope that they read this and don't take it the wrong way Great job on the years of success guys!

Rather than ordering à la carte, I chose the Elegante Experience, a four-course chef-curated tasting menu that concludes with dessert for $99 per person. The menu evolves with the seasons, allowing the kitchen to showcase its freshest ingredients and current specialties, so every visit has the potential to be a little different. For the quality of the ingredients, creativity, and execution, I thought it was an outstanding value. Every course was beautifully prepared and packed with flavor. Not a single dish felt like an afterthought. The house-made masa program and wood-fired cooking really shine throughout the meal, and it's easy to see why this restaurant has earned such a strong reputation. The service was prompt, attentive, and genuinely courteous without ever feeling rushed. The atmosphere strikes a rare balance, it feels refined while still being warm, familial, and incredibly inviting. If you're ordering a cocktail, I highly recommend the El Dragón. It paired perfectly with the meal and is worth trying. I've uploaded several photos with this review be sure to flip through them to get an idea of just how beautiful the presentation is. El Carlos Elegante is one of those restaurants that reminds you a tasting menu doesn't have to be intimidating or overpriced. It simply delivers outstanding food, excellent hospitality, and an experience that feels well worth the price. I'll definitely be back.
