A little bit on the pricier side but 1000% worth it! These are my favourite tacos and burritos in the world! Bomb vegan options. Generous portions. Indoor and outdoor seating. Staff are super friendly and service is always quick. You can also order ahead and pickup at their pickup window. Definitely get the black chili oil!

Food here is amazing and priced very reasonably for what you get. Fish tacos, crispy chicken burrito and roast chicken burrito are my favourites! Staff are very friendly and provide great service. Restaurant is very clean and has 10ish tables inside and a few outdoor tables! It's a walk up to order style restaurant but they do bring your food out to you. Great spot in downtown Victoria that is worth a try and is open late which is nice if you're looking for a late meal!

Tacos that punch way above their casual vibe! Tacofino is a laid-back spot that turns out some serious volume, but don't mistake speed for skimping on quality, they know their flavors. We tried the tuna and steak tacos, and both were outstanding: super fresh ingredients, perfectly pickled toppings, and house-made salsa that's downright addictive. I'm still thinking about the nacho platter we spotted at another table... it looked epic and is definitely on the list for next time. Beyond tacos, Tacofino's menu also has bowls and burritos. This place nails casual dining without sacrificing on quality or taste. Highly recommend for your next taco fix!

Cute local spot with good food! Easy to go by and either take out or eat there. They have indoor and outdoor tables and they do serve beer. The tacos were good and the veggies were fresh. Lots of ppl working here so they turn the tables pretty quickly.

First time eating here and I wasn't sure how filling the burritos would be but let me just say, they are definitely a meal in themselves! And man they were good! I got the roast chicken burrito with a fish taco and crispy chicken taco as well. My burrito was insanely delicious! I think my favorite thing about it was the chipotle mayo they used, it complimented the chicken so well! And speaking of chicken, I appreciated that they were cut into fairly small pieces. But between the moist chicken, rice, and beans, the burrito was so much food! I did enjoy the fish tacos, extremely messy though because they use such big pieces the stuff barely fits in the small taco. Also not quite as tasty as the burrito in my opinion. I wasn't a fan of the crispy chicken taco though. The chicken tasted a bit subpar and seemed like it had more crispy skin than actual meat. If I go again I'd just skip the tacos and get a burrito which was plenty of food to fill me up. My burrito was definitely a 5/5 and I'd recommend that for sure!

If you're looking for authentic Mexican tacos, this is not the place. But it provides a different take to the explosion of flavor when you mix meat, tomatoes, vegetables, and sauces. I particularly liked the tuna taco. Considering the size of the tacos, they are good value at $8-$9 each. I was pleasantly surprised with the nacho - it was huge! We all enjoyed our food. It was tasty and came in big servings. Considering the price tag in other restaurants, Tacofino is a good place to have a good family meal that provides good value.

Ok, so this spot is worth it. You might have to wait for your food a little bit. You might have to stay out in the cold wind while you wait (cue the little violins ) You might have to pay $8 (CDN) for a taco or $15 for a burrito. But it's legit worth it. The flavor, the team of cooks in the kitchen have an awesome vibe to them, working hard at creating quality, the chill vibe of people literally crushing burritos, everyone is here for the same reason. This spot HITS THE SPOT! I had the fish taco, the crispness of the fish, the soft and crispness of the tortilla, the slaw and the sauce - fire Highly recommend, spend a couple extra bucks and get the burrito - I ate a taco and wish I would have. Do it for me!!!

Huge burritos definitely worth the money

When in Victoria, Tacofino is a MUST! We have been here so many times now and we've had an amazing time at this taco joint! We've tried the yam taco, fish taco and beans tacos. They're all delicious. The fish burrito is hands down my favourite; it's bursting with delightful flavors and perfectly cooked fish. However, do keep in mind that there might be some line-ups, but trust me, the taste is worth every minute of waiting! The service was great; the staff was friendly, attentive, and made the entire dining experience enjoyable. They have a great ambiance, I enjoy watching the chefs put together our foods. The hostess will bring your food to your table. They have gender neutral restrooms as well. I love their arts on the wall. It's creative and fun! I'll definitely be returning for more delicious tacos and burritos. Highly recommend giving it a try!

There is no aesthetic way to take a picture of a burrito, but you have to appreciate the layering technique for the perfect bite.

I've never been blown away by a burrito before but geeeezzzzz, now I know what the hype is about. There were so many choices, so I asked the cashier what they are know for and she pointed out the crispy chicken burrito and the fish tacos. Okay, very typical recommendations. With my first bite into the crispy chicken burrito, it all made sense. The chicken wasn't the usual fried chicken strips, but actual chicken. They must have done something to the skin because it was basically crackling. The textures were amazing and flavors were a close second. Also, every single bite was perfect. I always find my last bite of burrito to be all dry wrap or soggy with all the sauces. Not this one. Perfect To The Last Bite. The fish tacos were so good also. The breading was the right texture against the fish which was cooked perfectly. Great bright flavors that stood on it's own merit. Loved that it wasn't doused in a puddle of sauces. Well worth the hype.

If you showed up without a reservation, you might have to wait for them to clean off a table, but didn't seem like anyone was waiting outside for over ten minutes. What they DON'T tell you in OpenTable: your deposit is applied to your bill but any remaining balance is given back as a GIFT CARD. This is clearly a restaurant choice, not an OpenTable policy. If you are a party of two looking to splurge, you can probably hit $140 without trying too hard (if you get two entrees, three appetizers, a dessert, and either apply the rest for tip or take a $15 jar of mole home). But I do think it's deceptive for Maiiz to have this policy without clearly noting it on OpenTable, especially since the likelihood you're coming as a tourist seems pretty high. Foodwise, everything was fine, I shouldn't judge the flavors against what I could find in CA. I was here as a tourist, and while I wouldn't come back here again, I wasn't upset about my dinner experience and it did provide a nicer dinner ambiance and zero wait. We ordered the duck confit tacos (the server said this was their top dish but it was NOT good, pretty dry and very small), beef barbacoa quesadila (pretty lacking in cheese, not as juicy as I'd like, but it was better than the duck confit), esquites (lime-forward which I like), butternut squash sopecito (just ok), one tuna tostada (very good!), and the cornbread (also very good!). That looks like a lot but we (two females) went home feeling satisfyingly full, with a leftover box of two tacos and one quesadilla. The only other quibble is that their menus are on ipads which are annoyingly laggy.

OK, let's start with the positives. We loved our waitress! She was friendly and knowledgeable and…read moretotally on it. Also, my husband had just about the best margarita he's ever tasted. I took a drink of it and it was indeed incredible. Five stars for the drink. We ate outdoors and it was lovely. Now for the reasons behind the three stars: the food. As much as I wanted to love it, it was not very good. I love the concept of the restaurant and really wished the food had been more palatable. The barbacoa was over salted and barely tolerable. It also lacked flavor. I was happy to find a gluten-free place with good masa, but almost everything is made from it so it becomes overwhelming and unappreciated. I ordered the Chilaquiles with both green and red sauce; both salsas were underwhelming. My husband ordered the posole also with barbacoa which unfortunately made his dish over salted as well. Overall, we would never choose to eat here again and wonder if it is a tourist trap as it is located in Chinatown.
