Mas Taco Masa Por Favor These new sterile mex places popping up might be a good thing. I mean, Chipotle, etc., started it and it feels more like a cafeteria. Went twice. Done Well, my Tuesdays in the area became pretty cool thanks to finding Taco Masa. They have two more spots as well. You walk in and bam--that smell of crossing the border at O'dark 30, with the boards and beer in the 70s and 80s when Mex was still Mex. But I digress. That mesquite smell-- I was under the impression open fires in places weren't allowed. After looking around, I saw the beloved stack of mesquite and that deep bed of coals. I knew I had found "it." I was going to get the standard bean burrito sans rice to test the water, but that smell... Then that stacked pork on the turntable--Al Pastor! Ha. I asked for that meat instead of the "pastor," and I think the polite, professional gal tagged me with "gringo." I might have redeemed myself when I asked for some fried serranos inside. What arrived was nothing short of amazing. I felt like I wanted to be on the side of the road in Mex on a dirt street after surfing, but the new sterile vibe was overwhelming for me. Alissa was amazing! She gave me the best service ever! Not only did she give me her own personal favorites for a first timer like myself to try she even offered me a sample to try a meat I had never tasted. It was amazing! She took her time and really understood what I wanted to eat and customized my order to my preference. She smiled the whole time, gave me great eye contact and went above and beyond to take care of me making my first experience there amazing! When I went to get a to go bag for my food, she had left already and another amazing employee came over named Denise and assisted me with a smile. Even though I just needed a bag she connected with me on a personal level which made me feel valued and important as if I was the only guest there. She was extremely personable and even knew that my company I work for comes to get food there. She really made another positive impression on me that I am going to continue to refer people as the best Mexican food in Long Beach! Had to try this place off of a taco review from the TCGD on IG. And he wasn't wrong. I've always passed by this place many times going to the golf course. It sits on the corner with parking in the back. It's nice, it's clean, and the food is really good! It was our first time there and I asked what was good and they explained the tacos and even gave samples of the meat. The menu is simple but everything is good. We each had the asada a nd adobada tacos. They were bomb on hand made flour tortillas just like a street taco. It came with rice, beans, and sauce. Didn't need the sauce at all though becuz the meat was so tasty as it was. Actually didn't need the rice or beans either. We also had the elote which was very good too. Had enough grated cheese on it to satisfy our appetite. I really recommend trying it! For dessert we had some kind of baked chips with caramel on it. I was impressed with all we ate and plan on coming back soon. They even gave us a free sample of mocha horchata as well. Karla I wasn't having the best day so I told her to make me a drink mind you I'm allergic to cinnamon and I have a bunch of allergies, but she came up with the most amazing and strong cocktail,if you know what I mean. My friend and I stopped by Taco Masa and were pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. We ordered two mulitas de adobado, two vampiros de asada and pollo, a plate of asada nachos, plus a Jarritos and an horchata. The mulitas and vampiros were definitely the stars -- they came with a generous amount of meat and were packed with flavor. The nachos were also really good; I just wish the cheese had been melted a bit more, but overall they were still delicious. The drinks were refreshing and delicious, definitely leaving me wanting more! The service was another highlight. The workers were very attentive, especially Estephany. Definitely not my first time here and most times I come in I get the same cashier, and she knows I'm a regular so we even will have a conversation while she checks up on guests and comes to me. I like to ask questions just to get to know this place more, like this time I asked her where they got the name tacomasa from, and also how they put the flower of the hibiscus to use cause I seen they put them in tacos? And she's always willing to answer my questions with a smile! Then before leaving I also seen her in the kitchen making tortilla, ( amazing) I'm surprised by her customer service always on point! This time we got 2 orders of fries asada and pork, 2 tacos of each and fried fritters all was SO good and really big portion we always end up taking some to go. And free refills!! Let me tell you. I hate LA traffic, and I NEVER come to Long Beach. Live in Hollywood and it takes a miracle to get me on the 405 after 2pm on a Friday. But ladies and gentlemen, Tacos Masa is WORTH THE TRIP. Let me start with the service. Our cashier, Max, is quite possibly the nicest and most helpful server ever. My girlfriend is vegetarian and she had a ton of questions about the Jamaica they used for their non-meat options. Max was super helpful and so patient- he even gave her multiple samples and told us about his vegetarian friend who always had a hard time finding quality Mexican food. Next is the food. OMG. Today was amazing day. Me and my friends went to an escape room, in Long Beach. Our escape room was the Queen Mary. I had came here earlier with my kids to try some authentic tj food since we had just been to tj and we were craving something a like what we had experience from our trip. I got the taco combo. Recently I went to Tacomasa and I got to say the food there was incredible. Portions are great and the prices are fair. The service was pretty great as well! A girl with glasses by the name of Joscelyn had good attention to detail. Made sure the food was worth buying and was a great person to interact with. As for the space, it had this calm feeling to it; the colors gave it that feeling which also went well with the beach sort of vibe to it. First time coming here on a date to try something new. Was taken care of by the assistant manager Christian. He made some great recommendations for my date and I. We told him it was our first time here and he did not let us down. Food was tasteful, didn't have to wait long, drinks were good. Pretty much checked off all our of boxes.
