OMG the moment I walked in it smelled soooo good. Ordered asada fries. Customer service is great...Yair was super attentive and helpful.

Was stoked to hear a restaurant serving Tijuana-style tacos opened up in the Long Beach area! The prices seemed a little steep at first for $3.75/ea, but as we were eating our tacos, we realized how hefty and loaded each one was with meat. They don't skimp out on the meat portions and bonus points for handmade tortillas. Indoor seating is quite limited with just a bar against the wall with maybe 10 stools max. There are tables outside but can be an issue if it's raining or cold like when we visited. Adobada Tacos (4/5): Marinated pork topped with avocado sauce. These are the only ones I tried and although a little spicy for my liking, still loved it. Asada Taco (5/5): I didn't get to try these but someone who was with me said it was his favorite of all the different meats he tried. Admittedly a bit dry, but very well filled with tender steak strips. Definitely worth giving it a shot if you're local to the area. :) read more

For how cool the set up is here (a homemade tortilla maker on display, a big spit of pork spinning around, and a veggie option that uses Jamaica) the food is really a let down, and it was NOT CHEAP! Tacos are $3.75 each no matter what they are. Yes, $3.75 for the Jamaica one as well. We got 4 tacos "con todo" as the sign enthusiastically encourages you to do when waiting in line. We made sure to try all options, the asada (steak), the adobada (pork), and the Jamaica (or hibiscus). Ok, the tacos are larger than your average street taco, but it was just more of something that didn't taste all that great. The tortillas, for being homemade, were really flavorless and not a great consistency. The asada needed more salt and more heat, the pork just tasted like something that should be served with rice on a plate but not necessarily in a taco, and the hibiscus taco was just odd. I love adventurous eating and I am happy they took a chance on a veggie option that didn't take the normal route of fake meats or just grilled onions, but this one with all that citrus flavor that Jamaica inherently has is just not pleasant to eat. Lastly, I have a suspicion the guacamole has mayonnaise in to make it creamier. There is a shelf of 1 gallon economy-sized mayonnaise jars above the grill next to the other bulk storage ingredients. Also, my wife is vegan and they made sure to let us know that the guacamole was not vegan. Those are the reasons for my theory along with the odd taste of the guacamole. The mayonnaise could very well be just for the tortas, so I can't say for sure, but the guac was wack. Try it and let me know if you disagree. We will not be back for $3.75 street tacos that taste bland and have a funky guacamole on them. read more

Upon pulling up around 4:30pm they looked busy from the outside. I ordered a Carne Asada torta 1carne Asada Taco And 2tacos de Pastor and 2large Horchatas Now I have to say this The Horchata is on point but not the Ice -it has a taste to it . I love tacos el gordo (TEG), but it's such a hassle driving down to San Diego for it. That's why I was excited that a TJ style taco place opened nearby. This place has my favorite meats from TEG such as the adobada and asada. The price may look hefty at first with $3.75 a taco, but you'll understand why after. The tacos are loaded with meat and they use handmade tortillas for their asada tacos. I order two asadas and adobadas each for myself to eat in the car since it was raining outside and the indoor seats were filled. Asada taco (5/5): The carne asada taco is a taco with steak loaded inside a fluffy handmade tortilla and topped with cilantro and guacamole. This was my favorite taco from TEG and is my favorite taco here as well. The meat was a bit dry, but was loaded with tender steak strips. The guacamole was also refreshing with the taco. I also loved the handmade tortilla because of how fluffy it was. Adobada tacos (5/5): These pork tacos are marinated and topped with avocado sauce. The adobada is the most popular meat at TEG and this tasted exactly the same, but even more loaded. I really enjoyed this one as it is a bit spicy as well. I had driven by TacoMasa so many times, so now that it's open I decided to try it for lunch. The interior is small and there are no seats inside, though there are several large picnic tables outdoors and even a small parking lot. The menu is not too big and I was secretly hoping they had cuts like lengua and tripa, but the vegetarian jamaica option was intriguing (you actually eat the hibiscus flower). Food is a bit pricey but so is rent in this area and portions were decent. I ordered a jamaica taco, adobada mulita, and asada torta. Everything was delicious, and I really liked their salsas. The guacamole topping definitely confirmed my suspicion that they were Tijuana-style tacos, which the history on the wall inside explains (they are just missing that piece of paper they always use with tacos in Tijuana). I also appreciated the use of real mesquite charcoal and fresh, homemade tortillas. Agua frescas even come with free refills! Highly recommend for some tasty, authentic food! read more

My bf & I flew down to So Cal with the specific goal of finding him good al pastor tacos shaved straight off the trompo which isn't an easy find in our native Bay Area. After several food trucks & sidewalk stands, we decided to try Tacomasa, a fast food-type establishment with a streamlined menu, since we had an event nearby. We ordered: -- elote: a little heavy-handed on the hot sauce pour but otherwise fresh, crunchy, & delicious. -- two tacos for him: one carne asada & one adobado (idk the difference between this & al pastor but the pork was marinated, deeply colored, & rotating on a vertical spit like I've seen with al pastor.) BF said the meats were missing the grease & fat that makes meat juicy & flavorful; good, but different from his more authentic taquerias. -- carne asada mulita for me: steak, thick blankets of cheese that's been browned on the grill, onions, cilantro, salsa, & guacamole between two soft corn tortillas. It made me realize more how Mexican food are budget friendly, this place, you can get a whole meal for under $15. I chose the horchata drink but thought it was little bit on the sweeter side. I guess I always think drinking sugar is not the best thing but regardless, I liked the flavor. I got chicken and pork taco. Loved the chicken esp with the guacamole. Didn't like the pork one too much, a little dry and it was spicy/salty. The rice and beans on the side, they were good. Heard about this spot and decided to check it out Parking: Parking in the back but pretty limited. Seating: Theres a space outside for small groups but there's a park across and a lagoon not too far away if you want to chill out. Feels: The spot is pretty visible. It's near the popping Wilson High School and not too far away from CSULB. It's at a corner spot so you can't miss it. It's a great spot to hang out and people watch. A great spot to walk to after a sporting event at Woodrow Wilson HS. Tacos were generous portions for under $4 and comes with cheese, guacamole and salsa. Flavors were excellent. Marinated pork rests on a rotating spit which the cook will shave off and grill fresh to order. The tacos and quesadilla were delicious. The quesadilla gets cheese grilled right on the iron to add a lovely crust to it. Pork tacos get heated corn tortillas dipped in butter/oil? So good. The carne asada is seared on open grill with charcoal /gas flame. The flour tortillas for the steak tacos are made fresh. Walked into TacoMasa at 2:45pm and there were two people waiting for food, four parties eating outside on the patio, and four parties waiting to order. I was like, woah, the crowd is into this spot. The location looks clean, bright, well-kept, and immaculately designed that I seriously thought this place was a chain. Per the stories, these are tacos inspired by Tijuana and damn, they make me want to go to Tijuana. Both the asada and the adobada was amazing, just the right level of flavorful; the meat tasted fresh, deliciously seasoned, perfectly grilled. And the amount of meat on each taco; DAMN. A nice spoonful of guacamole on the asada and this interesting sauce on the adobada. I was showing the open kitchen off to my uncle and the employee on the grill offered to sample the meat to us; like what? Icing on the cake. Speaking of employees, they had plenty of hands on deck and every single employeee (there were at least 8) was wearing a face mask. Kudos. Each taco is $3.75 and well worth. Will definitely come back to get my fix of TJ tasting tacos! Was driving by on my way to 2nd street to run an errand and saw the signs to TacoMasa now open. There were a good amount of folks there for lunch and got me intrigued, so on my way back I had to stop and check it out. Nice and simple menu which I ordered one of each taco to sample the different flavors, and had to order a Carne Asada Mulita! All the tacos were good, but the carne asada did not disappoint at all, and does remind me of TJ tacos! Was craving tacos with guacamole and did not want to make the drive to Compton so I remembered seeing this place on IG. Went to check it out tonight. Got four tacos, 2 asada and two adobada. The asada tacos were good. Good flavor and had a good amount of meat. The adobada tacos were ok. They had alot of grease though. Overall, this place is pretty expensive for being a taco joint. It's not much for ambiance but the workers were friendly and quick. Now I know we were extremely hungry but these tacos were some of the best we've had in a long time!! I had the two taco combo with one chicken and one carne asada taco, rice and beans de l'olla. (Not sure of that spelling.) I was hard pressed to say which was my favorite. They both came topped with different sauces, onion, and guacamole. No cilantro for me. I ate every bite of the tacos and the beans. The rice was good enough to take home to throw in with an egg dish for breakfast. My husband has three tacos; chicken, carne asada and lengua. I came here after I saw their IG page and wanted to try their Super Mulita which looked so delicious. The Super Mulita has carne asada, Al pastor pork, cheese, guacamole, and salsa, all in between two tortillas. They also have Tijuana style tacos the simple but delicious carne asada with guacamole. If you check in on yelp you get a free soda with your meal, they have Pepsi here. When we were ordering they offered us samples of the meats; carne asada, Al pastor pork, and grilled chicken. The meats were all delicious including the chicken, flavorful and juicy. The super mulita lived up to the hype it was delicious flavorful and gooey with cheese. Never do these reviews, but got this delivered and it was straight fire had to share. The campechana (asada & al pastor) burrito was absolutely insane. Asada takes like it should--on an open flame and can taste the wood grilling. Al pastor is shaved on the spit. I didn't get guac in mine I think they forgot to put it in. Mixed feelings. The Jamaica taco was disappointing because there were many hard, dark pieces of i-dont-know-what which were inedible. I ended up throwing them away because they were one bowl. I also requested two tacos to be lettuce wrapped and they came without the lettuce which was also disappointing. Asada was the best in my opinion. It was nicely charred and crisp in some places.
