I seem to be on a Wednesday taco binge. We are so lucky to live in the place where the taco is evolving from a humble food for the common man to an art form! I present Tacomasa as evidence of that fact. I have never seen a vertical grill in a taco joint before. It held a giant mound of slowly turning marinated pork of a ruddy hue. I quickly ordered the taco Adobado combo, which includes rice and beans (delicious) and two of the best tacos I have ever eaten. The corn tortillas which enclosed the delicious, vertically grilled pork, were amazing all on their own. The pork was tender and spicy and perfectly hot. The green sauce was creamy and unique. I could go on because it was a special lunch plate. The service was fast and friendly. The place was clean and bright. The inside just has many counter stools but outside there are large pick nick tables with shade. We shared with two other friends enjoying lunch. I suggest you do the same! read more

I would give them four stars but the asada quesadilla was kind of bland and just drenched in a runny guacamole. Had I known how much guacamole was going to be inside the quesadilla I would have just asked for one without guacamole. And there was hardly any cheese. The asada didn't leave a strong impression, either. The real star of the show was the adobada burrito. The pork was a little on the tough, crunchy side but it was generously portioned throughout the burrito and had a nice mesquite flavor. Service was good. Overall this is a good spot. read more

The random: They have cooked jamaica for their vegan option. I sampled it and it just literally tasted like cooked jamaica lol. I guess if you're vegan it gives you a chewiness kind of like mushrooms. It wasn't bad or good but just a bit random of a vegan option. The good: Sandía michelada - I love watermelon juice and this was super refreshing. A bit on the sweeter side. Came with a tamarindo candy but I didn't eat it. Only part I didn't like was that the bottom had loads of black pepper... maybe I got the end of the miche mix. Their spicy salsa - I asked for spicy salsa and it was pretty good! A tomatillo salsa w a good amount of heat. I think I tasted chiltepin if I'm not mistaken. Not so good: They gave me my miche and then completely forgot my order. I was sitting for 25 min and then I asked about my food. They then started making it. The girl I spoke with offered me chips.... I declined. All of the meats were dry. Chicken was dry and lacked flavor. Pork was overcooked. Flavor was fine. Instead of guac it came with some type of green crema. Idk never had al pastor with a dairy salsa. Asada was dry/overcooked and had multiple pieces of hard chewy gristle. The guac on the asada taco was also maybe half a spoonful. I did taste the flavor of the mesquite but the meat wasn't cooked well. It kind of tasted like how beef tastes when it's reheated. If you're local and looking for margs/miches with your food or want a place to sit down and eat I would come here. If not, I personally would rather get better tacos from a truck or street vendor. I was recommended by a friend to check this place out for delicious tacos. Hubby & I came by here for lunch today & it wasn't as busy so we got our order pretty fast. Ambiance was small inside with no tables & just bar top seating. It felt like a fast food place but had an outdoor patio for more seating. We ordered the combo plate which came with 2 tacos, rice, & beans. We also ordered 2 extra tacos to share. We tried the asada, pork, lengua, & chicken. Everything was delish just as my friend mentioned & the meat quality was tender & the handmade tortilla was soft & light. The only minor downfall was the chicken...it was a bit dry but it wasn't terrible. We were served with 3 different sauces & there was 1 in particular that was flavorful with a spicy kick. I was looking forward to trying their michelada & margaritas only to find out they didn't serve alcohol at this location. I will definitely try their other location next time. Came here tonight with 2 other family members and food quality was spot on. Carne asada burrito was amazing and huge. My only suggestion is to add pico de gallo or make it a "wet" burrito which is my favorite. Other family members had the quesadilla and tacos, all of which was gobbled up. No left overs even with the huge quantities. Service was amazing and surprisingly pleasant for a fast food place. Lots of space inside and a huge lot outside. TacoMasa Taqueria is a modern taco shop in Long Beach. They have a blue and white design which pairs nicely with the nearby beach. They have seating outside and bar seating inside. The parking lot is free but pretty small since the shop is so busy. The workers are so nice and always checking on you if you need refills or other things. Review for Tacomasa Taqueria Last Friday, after the Bishop Montgomery HS vs. St. Bernard's football game, we decided to try Tacomasa for dinner. Our group included me, my wife, Cody (who had just played in the game), Myla, her friend Brie, and another family whose son also played. When we arrived, there was hardly any line, which was great. I ordered the 3-taco asada combo plate. However, it's worth noting that neither I nor anyone else who ordered a combo received the drink that was supposed to be included, so make sure to ask for it if you get a combo. One of our friends did receive their drink, but the staff asked in a way that seemed to upcharge for a larger drink if you're not careful, so be clear when ordering. As for the food, Myla ordered the asada steak fries, and overall, the food was flavorful. The meat in the tacos had a nice, well-seasoned flavor, and the asada fries were pretty good as well. However, the condiments were controlled--you don't get to serve yourself things like salsa, radishes, and onions, and instead, they give you a small portion unless you ask for more. The dining setup is definitely more fast-casual than a place to relax. The inside seating is limited, and it feels more like a standing area than a place to sit down. We ended up sitting outside, which felt more like being part of the plaza rather than the restaurant itself. Overall, the food is tasty, but just be mindful of the drink situation and the limited seating if you plan to dine in. Super good tacos here! First time visiting and i was very impressed with the taste and freshness of the food. Not many places were you can find a two taco combo with rice/beans and a drink under $11 bucks. I couldn't give 5 stars because they didn't follow my order as i requested one asada and one al pastor taco but got two steak tacos but they were delicious. I could eat them all day long. They are located across from wilson high school. Plenty of parking and they have a nice sitting area. Used to absolutely love this place but felt like every time we went back it got worse, so 3/5 Why so stingy lately? 3 small containers of salsa and 1 lime wedge for 2 burritos and 3 tacos is craaaaazy. TacoMasa is the best spot for authentic tacos within 15 miles from my house, hands down. Their handmade tortilla pairs perfectly with their adobada and carne asada protein. Their food is best eaten fresh, but with this week's weather, takeout was the next best alternative. I placed my order online through DoorDash and their team was very friendly when I called the restaurant directly to make a modification to my order. When I arrived, the handoff was seamless and they were so sweet. They even threw in two free sides of rice just because, which is community love if I've ever seen it, LOL. While I haven't experienced it myself because I often eat at weird hours or during ungodly weather (CA storm, I'm looking at you), I can see how the parking situation can be tough. To be fair, that's most of Long Beach, so you can't really blame the restaurant. The service was really fast. The place is also very clean. I highly recommend the asada torta. I shared the torta with another relative and we really loved it! The bread didn't get too soggy and it's not hard. I'm very selective with tacos and tortas. I've tried many places, but the asada torta is seriously really good here. The salsa is really fresh and good, but can be very spicy. The jamaica was really good. My relative and I thought it wasn't too sweet nor too bitter. We got two orders of the Taco Combo (not pictured) and the mulita combo that came with a side of rice and beans and a drink. I think it is pricey especially for the small sides that they offer which is the only downside. There is limited seating inside with high chairs but plenty outside. They also bring the food to your table which is a nice touch for the restaurant.
