Exactly the kind of Mexican place we were looking for! We wanted authentic and found TacoNooga to be fresh and friendly! We were given chips and salsa after ordering our drinks. The salsa was AMAZING! Wish they sold it by the bottle! The chips were corn which was perfect as I am GF. We ordered chicken tacos and my daughter got nachos on the kids meal. She loved hers and the chicken tacos were perfect with the lime (and adding salsa) they provided! I was sad I hadn't ordered more! If you go order more than you need as you will absolutely want leftovers again and again!

Truly authentic & delicious! Super affordable, super cute, and quite convenient! I am so glad that I stopped in here with my daughter cuz the food was absolutely delicious. The service was phenomenal and the location superb! I ordered the kids quesadilla. It came with rice and beans and I enjoyed the Carne Asada taco on flour tortilla instead of corn. Absolutely phenomenal!

I have visited Taconooga a couple of times on trips to Chattanooga and I've never been disappointed. The specialty tacos, especially their namesake with grilled chicken, are worth the $6.50 price tag. I had that, along with a perfectly crispy carnitas taco. It had a few too many onions for my liking but it was still a great meal. It was a little different to pay $4.50+ for chips and salsa, but there was plenty and I did not run out in my short meal. It's definitely going to continue to be one of the first places I stop on each trip.

FANTASTIC little Mexican restaurant. Family owned and run. If we lived here, Taconooga would be our regular spot!

Boy, this little spot has what you want if you like hand made corn tortillas & fresh salsa's. The Al Pastor tacos were excellent.

Have walked by this spot a million times and just now tried it. I love the cooler full of yummy drinks if you feel like a cold sugar rush in a hot day. I got three tacos (I ordered a combo but never got the beans and rice). My favorite was the ground beef as it had more seasoning than the other ones. Husband had the fish and shrimp and loved the shrimp ones. The fact they give you three sauces on the table is amazing. I really enjoyed the spicy one pictured in the middle although I personally could stand for an extra hot option. Easy in and out, we would stop in any time for a taco fix.

This place is crazy good. We were in town visiting some friends and this is where they took us, and I was so happy about it. The tacos were delicious and huge! Two tacos filled me up from an empty stomach. I got the chicken poblano and the fried fish tacos. The poblano has chicken, cheese and a sort of spinach/artichoke dip on top. It was such a unique but delicious taco. The fish taco had this awesome mango salsa and came with a special sauce that was amazing. The guacamole was also on point. The employees were very accommodating to my wife who is on a very restricted diet right now. Add Taconooga to that "must visit" list for Chattanooga!

Off of Frazier, and bit hard to find. Basically hole in the wall. Inside small and nothing to look at. We had guacamole with mango which was delicious, chips were made fresh and yummy. Had the street tacos Carne Asada and Shrimp, they were just plain but ok, not bad not great. Overall good food. The homemade Popsicles and guac I would definitely come back for but tacos...iv had better with more flavor.

The basic chicken tacos were so full of flavor - delicious! The chicken taconooga with the corn salsa/topping and cheese was good and the shrimp taco was great too, but my favorite was the basic taco flavor of the chicken!

Excellent chicken tortilla soup. Best I have ever had! Sorry about the photo. If I had known it was going to be so good I qould have the photo prior to eating.

We visited Taconooga on Saturday after wandering around North Shore for a bit. We started with the bean and cheese dip and then had a few tacos (carne asada and al pastor). The menu was surprisingly interesting (I was surprised to see things like huitlacoche!), but everything seemed underseasoned to me - from the beans of the bean and cheese dip to the meat in the tacos. Everything we tried was missing salt for sure. It's a fun spot though!

My husband and I really liked the chori-queso. He got a chorizo taco, Carnitas taco, and bean and cheese taco. The chorizo was his favorite. I got Pupusas revueltas. They were really good but I could've use more cheese. I loved the pickled cabbage on top.

The chicken tortilla soup and giant mango/guacamole is enough to drive to Chattanooga from Nashville for.

I ended up going with the taco flight and selected two Crown Jewel tacos -- the truffle mac and cheese with lobster -- along with one Island Banger, featuring coconut shrimp and mango salsa. Every single taco was phenomenal. The flavors were bold, layered, and genuinely exciting. What really sets them apart is their signature double-tortilla approach: a fried hard shell tucked inside a soft tortilla. It creates the perfect contrast of crunch and softness in every bite and holds up incredibly well to the generous fillings. Between the inventive combinations, fun menu, and the unbelievable execution, this was a top-tier taco experience from start to finish.

I can't speak to the other wait staff, but our guy clearly had other things on his mind. Every part of our visit took way longer than it should have. We were done about 30 minutes before we ever managed to get our checks and pay. So, I'd make sure to pay for a couple of hours of parking. I'm going to attribute all that to this particular waiter, and judge the place on its other merits. The person you get might be quick and attentive. All in all, this place wasn't my cup of tea, to be charitable. The decor was pretty over the top. Young adult is obviously their demographic. I'm 65, so take that into account. Taste, of course is an individual thing. Therefore, I'm giving the food about a 7, the ambiance a 2, and hope I'm never served by our waiter again .

The bathrooms are always clean, which I appreciate. Paid street parking is usually easy to find, though during busy hours it can take a little more time. The veggie fajitas are an absolute treat and full of flavor. The guacamole is fresh and perfectly seasoned, and the salsa is truly top notch. One of the most delightful surprises is that the churros are vegan, and they are unforgettable. The Papillón dish is especially meaningful. It can be made vegan and comes from the owner's grandmother's recipe in Guatemala. That personal touch really shines through and makes the menu feel inspired and unique. There used to be a young blonde male bartender who was hands down one of the best servers I have ever had. He was personable and somehow remembered both your order and your conversations even months later. That level of hospitality really stood out. Prices are not cheap, and the ingredients are not explicitly organic, but the quality, flavor, and thoughtful menu make it well worth it. Highly recommend if you are looking for consistently great food and a standout dining experience in Chattanooga.
