This spot is amazing! Friendly staff, colorful fun vibe inside. Extra shaded seating in the back. Clean bathroom, clean salsa bar. I loved everything I ordered! I highly recommend getting the costra- grilled cheese instead of a tortilla I also really loved the black salsa. I just left and I can't wait to go back again.

Randomly found this place and was excited because I immediately thought of Sonoratown in Long Beach which I love. Madeleine and Gabriella were super friendly and helpful. I was ended up trying the shredded beef burrito and the bean and cheese. Loved both but the shredded beef was definitely my fave, super BOMB. Good selection of items and salsas. Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. Parking is going to be street parking.

Taconora has been such an amazing addition to PB!! I constantly crave the chicken Costra... and you can't forget the topping bar! The combination of the green crema, pickled onions, pico, salsa verde, and lime is actually life changing. This is our third time coming in the last week, and each time Madeleine greets us with a welcoming smile and remembers us. This place feels like such a warm, community spot, and I can't wait to keep bringing friends!

Amazing! I drive to PB just for the tacos and the burrito. Prime meat is the move. They have a patio area in the back and also in the front. The lady in the front taking order is super nice and answers any questions you may have.

Love that there are so many low carb options! The pork belly was good but will definitely try steak next time. If I take home, I can fry the fat chunks as a snack next time too. The salsa bar is next level. Has everything you need and more. Service was fast and friendly. Everyone was greeted upon arrival. There's extra seating in the back unless you want to people watch the sidewalk in the front.

This spot in the heart of PB right on Garnet was amazing. Of course, parking can be a little tough, but if you're already in the area you should definitely stop by! All of the ingredients in the tacos and the salsa bar were really fresh and flavorful. The quesadilla was surprisingly my favorite - it was so simple and comforting but you could tell they use quality ingredients. We ate here on a Saturday and it was clean and not too crowded; there were plenty of seating options both inside and outside (they have patios in the front and back)! Every employee was super nice and went above and beyond with their recommendations and service. The design/decorations here were cute and the music was fun too. I only knocked a star off because it can get a little expensive, especially because my boyfriend said yes to guac on one taco but it was unknowingly applied to all the tacos we ordered--but I definitely gotta come back for dessert!

This place has a lot of potential! I got two carne asada tacos with flour and one pork belly taco (lettuce wrap) to go. The carne asada was my favorite, fresh off the grill smoky flavor! Loved it. Pork belly was very crispy - a lot of meat. The lettuce was thin and couldn't hold all the meat so maybe double lettuce or a crispier lettuce would be better in the future. Happy to see they do have keto/low carb options. I don't see this often! They have a wonderful salsa bar with all the fixings. The only thing with this place is that I wish they had specials or top tacos that you can order as is when you're in a rush and don't feel like crafting your taco yourself. I took the items today but had to package all my salsa and fixins myself. I'm happy to do so but sometimes when you're to go you just want it ready :) I want to come back and try the tacos with cheese or taco pizza!

Taconora opened over about month ago in Pacific Beach. Metered street parking available. San Diego has more taco places in USA and just when you blink, another one opens up. What distinguishes this place from others is the menu offering to make your taco with options: lettuce shell and cheese shell which I haven't seen other taco places offer. Often times, I don't eat the corn or flour shell to cut calories and to reduce carb intake. Haven't the option of lettuce or cheese is great especially if you're following a keto lifestyle. Ordered the 'costa' which has the cheese shell beef carne asada for my pup and she liked it. The cheese shell was foldable and had parts of it crispy which my pup liked. Additionally, ordered a Quesadilla filled with cheese only for me. The self serve salsa bar had the usual toppings but the Black salsa with roasted peppers and onions in a smokey chipotle sauce was the best topping perfect for the cheese quesadilla. The quesadilla's flour tortillas are made in house and kind of resembled a 'Gordita' tortilla, which is like a thicker pita but very soft and delish. The menu offered veggie tacos but when I asked, they didn't have mushrooms which is among my favorites for tacos. Also disappointing on the menu, no seafood options: no grilled or Baja fish, shrimp or octopus which other competitors nearby offer. I think adding seafood options to the menu would be great since this place is walking distance to the beach! Service by the staff was great: the order taker hombre and the senorita were helpful, nice and friendly. The restaurant is very simple decor, with seating inside, open space exposure to the outside, which adds to the casual approachable vibe. Great addition to this area in Pacific Beach. Recommend

Taconora is the latest business to set up in this PB suite. The previous tenant lasted maybe 100 days so hopefully this Sonoran-style taqueria can change the fortunes of the space. There were some tables in a small area in front of the service counter. A back dining room had over twice the amount of seating. You could also hang out at the railing along the sidewalk. I visited during the soft opening week in which balloons adorned the entrance. A menu board was posted on the wall behind the service counter. No prices were listed so you had to scan a QR code to access the online menu where the costs were spelled out. I am not a fan of this because prices should always be available and transparent to the customers when they are waiting to order at the counter. There were five different proteins to choose from and then you picked a type of vehicle for the meat (or veggie) like a taco, quesadilla, or pizza. Add-ons and sides made up the rest of the listings. I chose two tacos with Grilled Steak and Pork Belly as the respective proteins. The meats were placed inside a thin flour tortilla. The USDA Prime Steak was tender and juicy. The cubes of pork belly were slightly crispy. The add-ons (guacamole and Sonoran beans) each cost at least one dollar extra so I passed on them. Guacamole normally comes with the price at nearly all taquerias but not here. Limes, lettuce, pico de gallo, and multiple salsas were provided at the complimentary condiments bar located on a ledge of the counter. Each of my tacos was priced at more than five dollars. They were larger than street size, however I did not like how plain they were with just the meat and tortilla. Because of this aspect, I did not feel my experience at Taconara was at a four star level, therefore I capped it at three stars.

My wife saw this Taconora in her friend's Yelp post and she immediately asked me to go with her to try it. We got parking in front of TacoNora, plenty of tables to sit around in the front or their very back space. We had the Pork Belly Taco and Grilled Prime Steak Taco, both came with just the meat in the tortilla, because you are the one who will fill them with all the toppings/condiments provided at their counter. Pork Belly and Ribeye were delicious especially when the condiments and toppings are already added. The Pork Belly was good I just hope that it wasn't over fried. Also, their Aquafrescas are not super sweet, I like their Aquafresca here. The staff are all nice, and they interact well with their customers.

We went to check out this new taco spot on Garnet. The owner/workers are very friendly. They explained the menu. I chose 2 grilled steak tacos and added guacamole. Please be aware that all toppings are located on their salsa bar and they have some very delicious sauces to choose from. They also have onions, cabbage, pico and limes located at the salsa bar. They even offered us a complimentary cucumber aqua fresca because it was our first time in. The tacos were really fresh and tasty. Try the black onion salsa and the cilantro sauce. I recommend checking them out!

A friend of my sent me a video on Insta that showed this place off and so I came here the next day as soon as they opened. This is a little spot in PB with good food. I got here before they opened at 1030 and waited. They were open at 11am prompt. The woman at the front counter was very polite and she made sure I knew what to expect. The tacos come plain and you can customize them at the bar. You can order guac or beans as an extra cost. I ordered the pork belly tacos and the New York taco. It would be easy to baulk at the prices but they do highlight the quality of their meat. This is a small place and I did find in to make use of the salsa bar. The black salsa looked fire and I went with that and the habanero hot sauce. Both were really good, even though the black salsa is mild. I really liked this place for what it is. Look at the menu and make sure this is what you're looking for, compared to a taco shop.

I visited this spot last year when there was a Smash and Stack burger joint. https://www.hungryones.com/2025/09/smash-and-stack/ Now you can eat Sonoran tacos here.  I asked the staff what makes them Sonoran.  He told me one of the things is you put the toppings on yourself.  This is great as I don't want any toppings.  There is a choice of homemade flour tortilla, corn tortilla, or lettuce wrap.  I liked the flour tortilla the best for it's moist texture and light flavor. Rib eye tarerita was seasoned with coarse salt and evoked the Sonaran desert while I was eating it.  I loved the thin-cut Prime beef which was tender and had a tasty beef flavor.  My favorite taco. Pork belly was crispy on the outside and the fat inside was juicy.  Tasty deep fried pork flavor. Grilled steak taco was tender and juicy.  Great tasting beef.  I'd add a tiny bit more salt. 2nd visit I tried 2 Rib-eye tarerita tacos and a New York tarerita tacos. Rib-eye was tender, moist and had a rich beef flavor with a bit of salt.  My favorite taco here. New York steak was tender, moist and  had a rich beefy flavor with a bit of salt.  Almost as good as the rib eye.  I prefer rib eye as it has more marbling. Staff was friendly, informative, and efficient.  I loved the Prime quality meats and the freshly made tortillas.

I was pleasantly surprised to find it inside the Lafayette Hotel, absolutely gorgeous, and on the 4th of July the pool was packed and full of energy. The hotel has so many beautiful bars that we could've stayed there all day. Our 6:30p reservation was during a busy stretch, but the vibe was great. I love love love the interior design, cocktails, food, and especially that they allow dogs. Everyone was so sweet to her. Food came out fast, too. We ordered four small plates as recommended, but three would've been perfect for two people so it makes more room for dessert. They surprised us with a complimentary dessert and a personalized candle, which made the night feel extra special. I wish we could've seen the plating better because every dish came on a unique, beautiful plate. Staff was friendly and attentive throughout. Highly recommend

Beware there's only street parking, no valet service (unless you're a hotel guest), so that can present a challenge. Reservations a MUST on weekends, especially with a group. Now for the food reviews. Everything we ordered was delicious from the squash blossom and smashed tuna tartare appetizers to the El Festin platter (made for groups) . Since the main dining area is kept dark for the dramatic gothic effect, it's tricky to rely on your sense of sight for the presentation of each of the dish. The highlight for me was the chili garlic shrimp tacos. So full of flavor! The only drawback is that many of their dishes are made with nuts. So if you have a nut allergy, which one of us in our group did, the menu was limiting. Overall, it's an incredible place for first timers and out-of- towners. I might return for a special celebration, but not repeatedly. Once is good enough experience, especially with so many other special dining options in our fine city.

First, the location and the views are simply stunning. It set the perfect backdrop for a celebratory evening. But what really elevated the vibe was the music! I also have to give a massive shoutout to our waiter, who was incredibly attentive, warm, and anticipated our every need. So I was very excited to see what this place had to offer. Celebrated my daughter's 19th birthday here this week, and to be honest, I was not impressed. The location and views from this place are unmatched. Tons of covered patio seating with a breathtaking view of the downtown skyline. As for the food, it was just ok. It was mostly mexican seafood, but there was a good mix of other items like steak and a wagu burger. Everything was served hot and fresh, but in my honest opinion, everything just lacked flavor. Everything I tasted was just bland, and I tasted a little bit of all of my family's meals. But everyone agreed. Maybe we are just spoiled with San Diego Mexican food. My biggest complaint of the night was the service. Our waiter started off well. He took our drink orders and when he returned, asked if we wanted to get appetizers started, which we did. Our appetizers came out and were finished and we still had not seen our server to order our main dinner. This continued to be the issue all night, we were constantly looking and waiting for our server. There were other servers that came around and filled our drinks and took our plates, and they were great! But we really didn't see our main server most of the night. And one of the times that we did walk by, my daughter asked for a new glass of water because she had dropped food into the glass. He took the glass and never came back. I ended up giving my daughter my water. I did notice that the servers at the other tables were awesome. They were attentive, and we constantly saw them checking on their guest. And like I said, we are fans of all of the Cohn restaurants we have dined at before, so the level of service we received is not typical. Maybe our server was new??? I will say, this is not a cheap place to eat. My family of 5 spent almost $240 and that was with no alcohol or desserts. So you would expect to receive a high level of service. Other than the ambience, our experience was just ok. I would highly recommend the restaurants next door, which are owned by the same owner, and have never disappointed us in quality and/or service (Island Prime or C-Level).

The fish was grilled to tender, paired with smooth avocado puree and fresh salsa--a rich and satisfying bite. But! The biggest surprise is the tortilla--it was on the softer side, yet surprisingly chewy. Smoked Fish Taco: A classic and San Diego signature dish. The fish was shredded into small pieces, giving it a smoky flavor and a slightly dry texture. The taste was nice, but you don't really feel the meat in bites, so it was slightly less impressive. Fish Ceviche: Marinated in lemon juice, the proteins denatured, making the fish appear white and fully cooked, but it still had a firm, raw texture. Completely different from other raw fish ceviche I've had. But! Incredibly tangy!!! The first bite was so tangy it was almost painful; it was only after being served as tapas with tostadas that I gradually got used to it. Lemon juice, tomato, and onion--it was easy to imagine the refreshing taste, while the rich aroma of avocado nicely balanced the harshness. Shrimp Ceviche: The shrimp appeared to be cooked; they weren't large but were quite fresh, with firm and tender meat. See above for other details. The restaurant is located in a small food court, with very limited parking and seating. It may be inconvenient for groups of four or more to dine in.

We left right away to pick up the food and sure enough it was ready waiting for our arrival. One quick drive back home to dig in and the aroma was so enticing. California Burritos is very apt for their name, my bf rates it a 10/10. As a California Burrito connoisseur, he liked the addition of sour cream in it and said the flavors were delicious. He topped it with their green salsa for a little bit of a freshness to cut through the richness and fattiness of the meat and fries in the burrito. He didn't care for the fish taco that much and rated it a 4/10 but said the restaurant overall was a 10/10, as he thought there was too much lettuce and tomato throwing off the ratio of the taco. The food, I mean, the FOOD was undeniably delicious and full of flavor. I've literally never had a better taco anywhere else. The Al pastor was exceptionally juicy and tasteful and I'm so glad I went with my go to because it's a meal I'll never forget. The Agua Fresca were so refreshing too, sweet but not overly sweet, just the right balance. Overall, I have another new favorite when I come back out again.

I have mixed thoughts on Puesto…read more On one hand, they're pretty expensive. One lobster taco alone will set you back $35. And it doesn't come with anything either. But it'll be a delicious lobster taco. On the other hand, I'm not sure the quality justifies the price. It's not the most amazing tacos you'll ever eat. And service is really not that great. The servers didn't know how to operate the cash register or place take out orders. The wait time was long for the food. And they genuinely looked confused when we asked for water while we waited for our take out order. We ordered almost $200 worth of food - lobster tacos, shrimp tacos, filet mignon tacos, short rib tacos, etc., I don't think water while we waited for the food on a hot summer day was a strange ask. I liked the lobster tacos. The fried fish tacos were just okay; señor baja is better. The short rib, filet mignon, and shrimp tacos were okay too. I do like the handmade blue corn tortillas. I don't like that for such a steep price you don't even get complimentary chips and salsa. Overall good quality of food but I wouldn't make this a regular place to visit when I'm in SD.
