**CHEAP EATS ALERT! I went for takeout lunch and ordered two beef burritos, one mulita style which means that it was covered in red spicy sauce. My mulita tasted great. Although I did not expect for the sauce to be spicy at all, the heat level was tolerably low... I give it a 4 out of 10 on the heat scale. My little guy enjoyed his burrito as well, especially because it was garnished with jalapenos - which he loves! The style of burritos they make is not what I'm accustomed to. I recommend that they be eaten by fork and knife. You can try to eat one by hand if you don't mind making a juicy mess up things. Everything tasted great, the ingredients were fresh, so all in all my lunch was a good value for the price. I could have easily paid $10-$14 for the same burrito elsewhere. In terms of the inside of the restaurant, it's an open concept dining area with ample seating for small and medium sized groups. There's even a jukebox in the corner next to the TV which plays music themed south of the border - no Top 40 hits here. I must've passed by this little restaurant on the main street by the Edison train station so many times without paying much attention to it, so I decided to give it a try! It has *surprisingly* good food at good prices with reasonable portions. I didn't expect much when walking in, but the after tasting their steak quesadillas, platillo amado, and tostada (and I REALLY like their tamale!), I changed my mind for the better. Hit or miss. Maybe it depends on who is working in the kitchen. I've had better luck after 5 pm rather than lunchtime. The flautas and enchiladas are not the best (or at least the time I had them) but highly recommend the barbacoa burrito and nachos!! Small mom and pop type shop. This store is pretty big on the inside, considering how small it looks from the outside. It's decorated and everyone there is nice. I ordered a chorizo burrito (in picture) which was really good. It had chorizo, rice and beans and lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes and cotija. It can to be $8, so as with everything there was a price increase as it used to be $5. They're still filling and thankfully did not go down in quality or quantity. I also ordered horchata which was delicious. Everything came out very quick and the all the workers were nice. read more

The first couple of times I was here, the people were so unfriendly that I didn't even get anything. The first time, I was with my friend M and we wandered in on a break from a bike ride. The woman turned her back as we approached the counter, and didn't turn around even though I said "excuse me" a couple of times. So we left. It was pretty clear we weren't welcome! The second time I came by myself and the woman faced me, but was stone faced and cold, so I just asked a question and left. Today I decided to just get some tacos. They were ok, but kind of greasy. They were served on a styrofoam plate which was melted in a bubble pattern according to the tortilla on it. I think the food must've been too hot when they put it on the plate, or they should just use regular plates. read more

I got nachos and flautas, the chicken in both was not seasoned which is why the food wasn't as good as expected. The green salsa was not too good either. I would say the toppings on the flautas and nachos were good, but you can't really mess up lettuce tomatoes crema and jalapeños.. I just wish they cooked the chicken with some seasoning. This hidden gem is tucked sort tucked away right at the tail end of the shopping strip next to an Italian Pizza spot. I'm from the area, but travel all the way up from Lower Bucks PA whenever I come to visit I always make this a must stop off place before I head back down. You really need to go into Philadelphia from my area to obtain such great authentic Mexican cuisine. This place comes highly recommended never a disappointment, and for those who rate with less than 4 stars are use to that Taco Bell kind of crap. Horrible. if i could, i'd rate 1 star. i will never step foot here again, took too long, rude staff and disgusting food. i paid so much money for this food that didn't taste good, no meat, the meat that was there was boiled meat, chicken & steak. the burrito was all rice, a steak burrito not just a rice burrito. the burrito was also covered in lettuce and sauce. it was soggy. the tacos were soggy too. they were rapped in tin foil. we got a chicken & cheese quesadilla and it only had chicken. by the name of this restaurant you'd think that would be authentic Mexican food which is what we wanted but no all we got was soggy food that didn't taste like anything it tasted like no flavors at all. don't go here. customer service wasn't helpful at all. we got no refund. read more

I'm maintaining my rating but adding some new info that I think is important enough to merit a second entry - The counter woman speaks very poor english. I didn't realize this before as I just stuck to the menu and ordered tacos / tamales. Ordering a burrito for a friend was complicated...tried to ask what was in it and couldn't really understand what she said. I asked about hard tacos and she said something I didn't really understand but in the end it sounded like yes (I ended up ordering 10$ of "quesidillas" when all I wanted was 4$ of tacos...wasn't too pleased). Next time I will order in spanish (my spanish is definitely better than her english). I ordered a barbacoa burrito on this occasion, just to try it out (I really enjoy Chipotle's take on barbacoa). On their menu they translate it as "goat meat" which is ok as (I think) barbacoa has a pretty broad definition. Tasted a bit like goat/lamb. Unfortunately it wasn't as well seasoned as their other meats that I've tried and on top of that it was a bit dry (though lamb/goat tends to be on the dry side so that isn't surprising). On top of THAT, it had a huge piece of bone in it (kinda careless, not very appetizing) and a few smaller pieces (understandable perhaps but very unappetizing). Despite all those "negatives" I still give 4 stars (though I would prefer 3.5) based on price (cheap) and their tacos / tamales (DELICIOUS!). read more

Crazy Burrito is definitely a diamond in the rough as it is a small restaurant and can be easily passed on the road. Once, you're in the restaurant you may be wondering, what happened to the ambiance or decoration? You may even take a step towards the door to leave. As they say, looks can be deceiving. Forget the bourgeoise restaurant type atmosphere and lack of decorations. You are there for one thing and one thing alone. Good food. Period. They have a friendly staff, but may be hard to understand as their primary language is Spanish. The menu is great as it is easy to read and provides many choices to choose from. Besides having a huge menu, the prices are right. Good Food + Affordable Prices = Happy Customer. You order your food at the counter, but food will be served to you at your table. You start off with tortilla chips with two different salsas. From what my palette can ascertain the first salsa was made with jalapenos and tomatillos with the second being a more common salsa with tomatoes, jalapenos, onions and other spices. Both salsas were made fresh and definitely had a nice zip to it. My appetizer consisted of a chorizo sopes, which is made of corn that is grounded and fried to form a plate or a base with the chorizo on top with lettuce, tomatos, onions, crumbling cheese and sour cream. Definitely delicious with an asking price of only $2.99. My main course was a bistec encebollado (steak with onions). I've had this dish made at costa rican and cuban restaurants before and this definitely is up there on my list of best bistec's. The flavor hit my memory banks of food I've had close to the border in El Paso, Texas. The portion size was huge and included a side of flavored rice, black beans, warm corn tortillas and a salad. The main had an asking price of about $9. Overall, this restaurant is great to have lunch or dinner. I went here for an early take out lunch based on the reviews I saw on yelp and the food definitely exceeded expectations. This is as authentic as Mexican can possibly get in central NJ. The menu is in both Spanish and English which helps considering that the people that work there are not native English speakers, which makes the food even more authentic, but difficult to customize an order if you do not speak Spanish. There are helpful pictures throughout the menu most of their platters as well. Being vegetarian, I always find it really difficult to find restaurants that have vegetarian offerings besides salads, wraps, pizza, and pastas. The menu here does have quite a few vegetarian options including tamales, quesadillas, enchiladas, burritos, and a vegetarian platter. I decided on a corn tamale and a vegetarian burrito. The burrito was filled with black beans and rice and topped with tomatos, lettuce, a mexican cheese(not sure what kind of cheese it was but it had the texture of parmesan), sour cream, and pickled jalapenos(on the side). It also came with a side of sour cream, red sauce, which was smoky and spicy and this really awesome cilantro green sauce. The burrito is huge and basically took me an entire day to finish. The tortilla was fresh, but after a while the filling was a little boring without the sauces. At 5.00 I'm not complaining! The highlight of the meal was the fresh corn tamale though. I took one bit into it when it was still really warm and I was totally blown away. It was soft and spongy in a good way and the corn flavors really stood. I think that was definitely one of the best bites I've ever taken of any type of food. It was a steal at 1.50! If you're getting your meal to go make sure you ask for tortilla chips because they are fresh and homemade but I had to ask for them! The atmosphere is a little gloomy due to the lighting but they have color throughout the store. They also carry a small grocery section with beans, cheeses, coconut water, mangoes, etc. I will definitely return for lunch or takeout and maybe be more adventurous and try a cactus dish. read more

The place itself is very clean, and everything is very reasonably priced (we were actually shocked at how low our bill was at the end). Your order comes with complimentary chips with green and red salsa, which I believe are handmade. I favor the green salsa since it's spicy. I have been here about 50 times, having lived a block away for a couple years. Follow my advice and you will be a very satisfied customer. Order the chorizo burrito. It is delicious, huge and costs a ridiculous $5. Accompany that burrito with an ice cold Mexican Coke, and that's the best lunch under $7 you're ever going to encounter in the area. Their burritos are different from the typical brick you'd be served at Moe's/Baja Fresh/Qdoba/On the Border/Chipotle...you'll eat it with a knife and fork. Some of the other burritos are pretty good. I used to have the goat burrito, which was very good, but I got tired of crunching down on stray pieces of bone. The chicken burrito is not the typical grilled chicken, but more of a boiled or rotisserie texture...not that great. I have had a few other items on the menu (tacos, flautas), and didn't love them. Take my word for it and stick with the chorizo burrito. I know people who have claimed the food here is not up to their standards for Mexican food. But I take a little umbrage to those who would claim the food is not authentic Mexican: Please, tell that to the clientele and staff, who are virtually 100% Mexican. Nice little Taco Joint. Service is on the slower side, but thats because they make everything fresh to order. Call ahead for takeout and avoid the wait. Homemade tortilla chips are a plus, but sometimes are a little too greasy. The authentic mexican dishes are very tasty and a good value. We discovered Crazy Burrito about four years ago and haven't been disappointed. Our regular "go to" meal is the chicken burrito, which we normally call in for a pick up. It has fresh ingredients, very delicious and it's HUGE. I couldn't believe it was only 5 bucks! I have a big appetite but usually save 1/2 or 1/3 for a snack later on. Read some of the other reviews here and believe most are being harsh. I've never had a delivery so can't speak about that. But I go about once a week or every other week and they have consistently produced an enjoyable meal. I would highly recommend them. read more

I went here today for some tacos. I took them to go. I got the carnitas, barbacoa, pasture, and steak. They were great. Very fresh, and loaded with meat. These are street tacos with onions and cilantro, next time I would ask for more onions and cilantro topping. The red salsa was great, not that spicy, but tons of flavor. Salsa Verde was hotter, with the jalapeno flavor coming out strong. Overall, the menu looked interesting, and I will be making another trip here soon, to try other things. read more

It's not a fancy place like some I know in L.A., but the food is as authentic as it can get from a good 'ol mom and pop's place. Crazy Burrito, is a family favorite. Authentic Mexican food at reasonable prices. I usually order the beef burrito, while my wife gets the vegetable burrito (rice and beans). The corn tamale is a must, very tasty. Healthy portions, freshly made and at reasonable prices. The burritos include a side of home made sour cream and some hot peppers. The service is usually good, but the staff sometimes has some problems with English. The being said, they are very friendly and attentive. I have not tried many of the items on their extensive menu, but will update my review when I do. read more
