Slaps every time. Economically sound decision for food for any time of the day. Fresh, fast, delicious. We always do takeout so can't comment on ambiance but we always see people standing outside and eating their tacos. Service is efficient. No one is rude. The place runs like a well oiled machine. The tacos are delicious. Can't go wrong with chicken or carne asada. The frescas are yum too. The guacamole on the tacos isn't an upcharge. What more can I say? Go have one... ahem at least 4. You won't regret it.

There are a few Tacos 1986. I have only been to this one and we love it. All of their food is great--Mexican food-- and you will love it. Beware the salsa, some is so hot, so ask. I did not and that was just dumb. We love all their food. They make the best soft tacos and their burritos are out of this world. They have great meat that is cut just for you and it is ever so fresh and tasty. They have several types of tacos and burritos, my favorite being the carne asada burrito. They also have salsas you can buy by the bottle and they even have merch. The place is super cute and always clean. You can eat there or take home, many take home or use delivery. The service is great. They are so nice and they make you smile. The prices are fair for what you get and the food is fresh. You will love it.

I've been going to the dtla location for years but happened to be at UCLA for an event so stopped by this location. I always get their mushroom quesadilla, which is a taco with melted cheese on top. And it's been consistently good at each location. I still give it a 10/10. My friend got carne asada burrito & chicken taco and said the burrito was about 7/10. They have a bunch of different salsas, lime & radish you can pair your meal with. Location is clean and customer service was great per usual.

The Best in Westwood! The Homemade tortillas are Amazing. Good Simple Fast. A must try.

Tacos 1986 hits the spot. Pretty solid spot overall and doesn't miss if you're craving tacos. It is on the pricier side I will say and this location doesn't have a ton of seating. The service on the other hand was fantastic, everyone was super nice and friendly. For the food, my favorite is their Adobada. The carne asada and pollo asado were overall decent. The horchata was also very tasty and refreshing. I'll be back for their Tuesday deals but other than that I'd only come if I was really craving it and in the area.

All three breakfast tacos except the mushrooms. All delicious

These guys are so nice. I was in line for breakfast tacos when the menu changed right at noon to the lunch menu - they still served me the breakfast tacos and at a discount. Gentlemen who serve good meat There's standing tables outside but not much for seating so plan to eat on the go! Go give them some love!

Our favorite taco place! There adobada tacos are amazing and they have soooo many good salsas.

We came here based on the reviews to grab a light lunch. This place is well known because President Biden came and ordered a quesadilla. We ordered 2 asada (5/5) tacos and 1 pastor taco (4/5). The food was flavorful. The service was good. We ordered and received our food shortly after. There is a small area with a self serve salsa bar with radish and cucumber . My favorite was the salsa de fresa . I've never seen or tried strawberry salsa, but it was pretty good! *Just don't add too much to your tacos. The ambience is upbeat. There is Mexican music playing. There is an open kitchen where you can see the employees preparing the homemade tortillas and food. There is an outdoor dining area, but no chairs. You stand and eat at bar style tables. Limited dining area. My husband and I had to walk a little to stand and eat. Overall, the asada tacos were more flavorful than the pastor taco. Good food.

Stopped by for the 5 for $5 special to celebrate their five years in Westwood! 2/24/25 through 2/28/2025. Tacos were prepared to order and was fast! I was afraid of long lines or slow service but they were prepared.

I checked out Tacos 1986 because of the amazing 5 tacos for $5 deal going on this week, and I'm so glad I did. I got 20 tacos (carne asada, adobada, pollo asado), and they were all cooked well and topped with fresh onions, cilantro, salsa, and guacamole. The carne asada is my favorite because of the char. You can also see the them making fresh handmade corn tortillas, which truly makes this place so great--the aroma and taste of the fresh tortillas is so addicting. I also loved the self-serve station filled with a variety of salsas and other condiments. If you love chili oil, you will love their salsa macha! Although their tacos are normally pricey, I'd still come back again because of the authentic taste and flavors. Despite being so busy with a line coming out the door, the staff member at the cashier was very kind and quickly refilled the salsas and condiments upon asking. I ended up returning 2 days later to grab 25 additional tacos. Unfortunately, they packed my order short of a few tacos, but they were still great for lunch and dinner today.

#1 Taco Combo (2 carne asada tacos with guac on the side, rice, beans, Coca not pictured) + Horchata

Second time coming here but first time ordering online through Toast for pick up. Limited parking so checked the box for curbside pickup when ordering. Double parked and checked-in, but no one came out for a while...ran in and bag was on the counter with no one waiting and multiple staff...so not sure why that service is offered. Anyways, got their delicious bottled horchata ($3.50) again. It's less thick and has a strong milky flavor--make sure to shake it! Paired it with the #1 taco combo ($12), which comes with 2 5" tacos, beans, rice, and a soda. The tacos come with guac on top, but this time I decided to get in on the side so I could dip, and I was disappointed by the small portion and lack of flavor with the carne asada when eaten without the guac. The fresh, handmade tortillas were great. Overall, a little disappointed with this experience, but the combo plate is a great deal.

    All their sauces were delicious
    Elaine T.

Whether you love beef, chicken, or mushrooms, you can't go wrong with the tacos, burritos, or bowls from Tacos 1986. Get every sauce from their sauce bar and use liberally! Service is friendly and efficient. If you are really hungry, you can eat at the stand up tables outside, but mainly a to go operation. Parking can be tough, but if all else fails park at Target or Trader Joe's, 1 block away and validate.

False opening hours on both Yelp and their own website. They just told me they open at 10am today Monday

Today Monday 3.9.26 I went to their Westwood store to place an order for my team and they were still closed. It was 8:15am. A cook inside made a hand gesture from the kitchen saying they open at 10am. I double checked their store info schedule and Yelp and they both say it opens at 8am. This ruined my plans to treat my team to breakfast. See the pictures I took of both websites for reference. Hi Andy. Thank you for the gift certificate. I just went back today (4/22) and had the Adobada tacos I was craving. They were delicious!! Anybody that comes to this place should try them. If you don't eat meat then I highly recommend you try the mushroom tacos. Let's support our restaurants during these difficult times! Thanks

When I first arrived, I gave them the name of our reservation, and the staff had no idea what I was talking about. We were a party of 6, yet they seated us at a tiny table that was clearly not appropriate for our group. When it was time to order, my husband very clearly told the waiter which pasta he wanted and even showed him a picture of the item on the menu. The waiter looked at it and agreed. My food came out, but my husband's food never did. We eventually found out that his order was never even put in. What made it worse was when the waiter came out saying, "Oh my God, I thought you said you didn't want it." Everyone at the table looked at him completely confused because my husband had literally told him what he wanted and showed him the menu item. Instead of simply acknowledging the mistake and fixing it, we were left waiting. On top of that, trying to get anyone's attention was nearly impossible. We had to repeatedly try to get someone's attention just to get basic service. Then there was another issue with the entrance fee. My sister-in-law had messages showing that we were told that if we ate at the restaurant, we would no longer have to pay the entrance fee. We showed those messages to the woman handling the wristbands, but instead of looking into it or speaking to someone who could clarify the situation, she simply said, "I don't know, you have to pay." No attempt was made to investigate or resolve the issue. After everything that happened, they still added a tip to the bill, despite the extremely poor service we received. Overall, this was one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences I've had. Poor communication, poor service, lack of organization, and no effort to make things right. I definitely will not be recommending this place to anyone, and we will not be returning.

I recognized it from Season 1 of Nobody Wants This, and apparently seeing a restaurant on TV is all the encouragement I need to add another dinner reservation to the calendar. Parking in Los Feliz gave us a little pre-dinner challenge. A friend and I eventually went with valet, while another friend circled a few times before finding street parking. Consider this my future self taking notes: next time, Uber. Walking inside was probably my favorite first impression. Mírate unfolds across multiple levels with warm lighting, greenery, tucked-away lounge areas, and that huge tree in the middle of the courtyard. We were seated upstairs near the top of the stairs by the restroom, which gave us a view down into the main space. Admittedly, I spent a little time admiring the tables around the tree and understanding exactly why that area is such a draw. Something to aim for on a future visit. We ordered several dishes to share. Some of the starters were a little smaller than I expected, but there was plenty of flavor packed into them. The ribeye taco was one of my favorites, with Chihuahua cheese, salsa verde, and a little heat from the Yahualica chile. The octopus taco was right up there with it, paired with Chihuahua cheese, frijoles puercos, and pineapple pico that brought in a nice sweet-savory contrast. Both disappeared quickly, which is generally a good sign at our table. The cocktails were another highlight. Everyone ordered something different and there wasn't a disappointed person in the group. Our server checked in throughout the evening without hovering, which gave us plenty of time to eat, talk, and inevitably compare everyone's drink choices. By the end of dinner, I had already figured out my strategy for round two: Uber there, explore a little more of the cocktail menu, and see if we can snag one of those coveted tables near the tree. Even if we don't, I'd happily come back.

This place isn't just a restaurant -- it's culture, it's history, it's meaning, it's family love all wrapped into one. Every time we walk through those doors, it feels like coming home. The food is incredible every single time. From the small big burritos to the huge big burritos, everything hits with the same flavor and comfort we grew up on. The portions are legendary, the taste is unforgettable, and the consistency is something you don't find everywhere anymore. El Tepeyac gives so much to the community. It's one of those places that holds memories for generations -- birthdays, family gatherings, late‑night cravings, comfort meals after long days. It's a spot that brings people together, and you can feel the love in the food and the atmosphere. This café is part of my family's story, part of East LA's story, and part of the community's heart. I love coming here, and I'm grateful for a place that still feels like home after all these years.

The Hollenbeck de Pollo had a huge filling of guacamole, and chicken!!! Mini $12.99. What a great deal in this economy. The portions were large and the wet burrito just had so much flavor. I loved how everything came together. Ordered the half basket of chips and boy was it worth! Thanks Eric for the recommendation and tips!! Will be back if in the area!! And there was a line when I left! The guy behind the counter was great!

The line can get pretty long, but it moves surprisingly fast, so don't let that scare you away. Once you get your food, you'll need to find your own seat somewhere in the food court, which can be a little chaotic when it's busy. The seafood was definitely the highlight for me. Everything tasted really fresh, bright, and limey which worked perfectly with the tacos. The citrus and acidity kept the seafood tasting light and refreshing, while the toppings and sauces added enough flavor without overpowering the main ingredients. I really enjoyed the tacos and liked how clean and fresh everything tasted. It's a nice change from heavier, more traditional taco spots, especially if you're in the mood for seafood. Overall, the setup is a little unconventional, but the food is absolutely worth it. I'd definitely come back for the seafood tacos, especially when I'm craving something fresh, citrusy, and flavorful.
