I've never given an establishment one star but this spot deserved it. Sucks because I reside in Pacas. First time trying their Papas Charly a couple days ago... pffft what a joke! They charged me $8 for an order of fries with barely any carne asada covered in lukewarm nacho cheese. I think it had guacamole, sour cream, some sort of white shredded cheese under the nacho cheese but I can't be certain. I didn't really see it on account of them being stingy. I don't get the hype at all! To top it off, they only had watered-down guacamole and pico de gallo que parecía de lata as salsas on the side. No salsa roja, lemon, rábanos or any other condiments one usually expects at a taco spot. Sáquense con sus papas chorreadas. Oye Charly, cámbienle el nombre a Tacos Tacaños por agarrados y codos. This place has some good nachos/asada fries with nacho cheese which is unique and would definitely try it again some time in the future but come on, people are able to tell when you use microwaved meat from the other day and it kind of ruined the food. Now I have to make sure to ask for fresh meat and not old microwaved meat from the other day if I come here again. I recommend asking for fresh meat/ingredients when you come here or at least know you might get old ingredients/ not as fresh food. read more

Great chance to brush up on your Spanish, enjoy an authentic, delicious, greasy burrito, and hopefully not get your car scratched. Quick tip: if you're going to come here, carpool in the smallest car because the parking lot is pretty laughable. If possible, I recommend parking on the street and avoiding it entirely. First time at this restaurant I will say the employees were very nice and welcoming. However carne asada fries were ok. The bottom of the plate with super soggy due to the excessive melted cheese they put over the fries. Also the meat didn't really have much flavor. For just the carne asada fries, it totaled to about just under $8, but the portion is HUGE! It has fries, your choice of meat (I chose asada), pico de gallo, beans, sour cream, shredded cheese, and nacho cheese. The first bite was really, "Woah! This is good!" The nacho cheese was really tasty, but after a few more bites, I felt like it started getting a little too heavy for me and I definitely couldn't finish it. Also, the flavor started becoming too much for me; and unfortunately, I paid the price the rest of the day, if you know hat I mean :- /. Also, I noticed there wasn't enough asada. Memories. This is probably the biggest reason I love this place. As a kid growing up in this city in the early 90's it was a little dangerous but that never stopped us from hanging out here and all of us pitching our money together to get charly nachos. The food is still the bomb, customer service is ok, place is clean, parking kind of sucks. Buchés are made on the crunchy side (I like em like that) and carne asada has very little fat. The nachos de asada are a must have! They use both nacho cheese and queso fresco and that makes for such a tasty combination. The chips are bite size and have just the right crisp. The portion is big enough to feed two people. The asada fries are good too, but I prefer the nachos. read more

I generally get my usual dosage once a week - three carne asada tacos, some chips with salsa, and my horchata. If I don't get it though, man its the pits to go on days end craving wonderfully seasoned meat. The nachos are good too and for you chicken lovers it's pretty decent. I first came here years ago because a friend told me the nachos were good. Indeed! I recommend the nachos covered in cheese and topped with jalapeños! With of course a side of horchata! The rest of the food such as the tacos and burritos look really great. All the people eating in look to really be enjoying the food. This place also offers a small condiments bar so you can get as much as you want. The parking for here can be a problem because the lot is small and there are a lot of businesses. CASH ONLY I went here after my supervisor swore up and down about their nachos. I tried the carne asada nachos, they were pretty good, but I don't like how they mixed nacho cheese with shredded cheese. I like my nachos over flowing with just nacho cheese. A little grisly but probably one of the best carne asada tacos around in the San Fernando valley. On my return, I ordered the "veggie nachos". No bueno! They put beans, rice, and cheese. I don't know how that constitutes as "veggie", but I was so grossed out at the concept of nachos with rice. Don't get me wrong, I love Mexican rice, and I love beans, but not on my nachos. I come here for the asada fries only and they are bomb. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't like messy food like go eat some gourmet pasta for 20$. I will say that the price has gotten ridiculous. The price of the asada fries used to be around 8$ and now over the years had increased to 11$ which is absurd. I personally have never had any experience of bad service or messed up orders. If you want to know if the asada fries are good then they are but only downside is the price.
