Super yummy burrito and quesadilla! And salsas are delicious which is a cherry on top. Burrito with half asada and al pastor with no beans 9/10 this was super delicious, I'm so glad I got half al pastor it was crispy and flavorful. Their Mexican rice was one of the better ones I've had, included tons of spices and really made the burrito pack a punch Quesadilla with half asada and half al pastor 9.5/10 they really load it up with their quesadilla, I got 4 big pieces and paired with their avocado and orange sauce makes it soooo yummy. Can't forget their onions! It comes with each dish and it's a must to eat I with your meal Both came out to total ~$30. I really love the avocado and orange sauce, one of the better salsas I've had from a taco truck, can't wait to come back and try other items!

I came across a reddit post about the best tacos in the bay area, so my friends and I set out to taco hop. For our first taco hop, we visited Tacos Chencho, Tacos Montero, and Tacos Los Tres Reyes. Of the tacos we've tried, Chencho was our favoriteeee by far. The al pastor was perfectly marinated, which paired well with the bits of pineapple. I appreciated that they put some grilled onions on our plate. I enjoyed their sauce bar, too. The only thing is that parking wasn't great, BUT I did discover they have a second location on Alum Rock which does have parking! So next time, I will be going to that location :)

Taco stand in SJ. Found just randomly driving and saw a busy line in front of it. They have a heater and some tables to sit near their stall. Cash or Zelle payments only. We got tacos and a gringa. Each taco came out to around $3.20 for one and the gringa was $10.79. The horchata was $5.49. The tacos were pretty loaded with meat, onions, and cilantro. They also throw in some grilled onions on the side. Tasty protein and flavorful. They have a salsa bar with different types of salsa. The horchata had a strong condensed milk flavor. Solid taco spot but a bit pricey compared to LA street tacos.

I loved the great fresh and not greasy Mexican everything! These open Tacos are superb and real tasty The service is friendly and it's cozy too Smells great Took a photo of my taco I can salivate now writing this. I will definitely be back! Yum

Tacos Al Pastor

Great tacos Al Pastor! Juicy, flavorful and salsas are good too! The area is not bad too.

Really solid mexican food spot. Large portion sizes. There is a small lot next to the truck. Chairs and a cover next to the truck if you want to eat outside by the truck. The onions they give you on the side are super good and delicious. They have a wide variety of cuts of meat like brisket, cheek, etc. The al pastor burrito was huge and really good. Super flavorful. You can pick your own salsas that you want from the bar. The horchata was delicious as well. They only take cash or zelle. Would come back again.

The cabeza and lengua tacos were solid. The carne asada has a nice smoky grill flavor, however, it had a strong lighter fluid taste. The saduero was also nice, however, it was a bit dry. Sauces are self serve. Cash only. Outdoor seating only. Parking is limited.

This place has multiple trucks. The one local to me is on bascom near San Carlos and let me just say that they are the real deal! Great flavor on their asada and they give you fresh sautéed onions and limes w each order. Their red salsa is some of the best in San Jose (trust me I get around ) and so are their Al pastor tacos! I'd argue that the al pastor is some of the best in all of the South Bay! Crazy take I know! Service is good although they only speak a little English and they only accept cash/zelle (all signs of a good truck lol). Location is not the best, located in a tire shop parking lot w limited seating bt the food is 100% worth it. Favorite taco spot RN!

I drive by this taco truck all the time when I'm heading home. I finally bit the bullet this taco Tuesday. I had the lengua taco, suadero taco, and a gringa. The gringa really blew me away. I love pineapple so more pineapple on my pastor taco? Hell yeah brother. The lengua and suadero tacos were also great. Their salsa bar was the real MVP, I enjoyed the orange and light green salsa. I gotta try their escabeche next time. They do have some tables to eat at, parking can be a little tricky, but you can always park across the street or temporarily in the neighborhood then walk over. CASH ONLY. But they do have a venmo for payment too. Service was fab and im glad this taco truck is close to me for those late night eat moods!

My favorite place to get tacos from! Their pastor meat is well maintained and tender. Comes with pineapple, which pairs so well with the pastor taco. Generous portions too!

always get the yummy tacos, but omg amo a chencho literally put everyone i know onto them, me valen todas las carnes porque el al pastor ufff que rico and the only one i need y con unas cebollitas asadas y orange salsa

Nhat T.

got the cabeza and al pastor tacos for about $3 each. The cabeza was really tender and delicious. Al pastor wasn't my favorite, would come back again to try all the other meats. Friendly and quick service! I got the horchata as well but the line was super long but they were able to get me to just pay really quickly in front since drinks were at a side booth.

Where you put salsa and add sides

Service was great food is amazing and everything was easy to get without having to ask and also had a menu with Spanish and English while some are only Spanish.

I ordered from the truck, then went into the store to collect my drink, and then came back out to sit in the dining area, where I also collected any sauces I wanted. Definitely need to work for your meal and get your steps in. The condiments and sauces are in a cart with plastic cups with lids provided. There weren't that many options of sauces when I ate here but it was fine. The birrias and lengua tacos were so good. All the tacos came with two small tortillas to hold in the heaping amount of meat. The horchata here is had more cream than I'm used to. Like more milk was added or something, not enough spices or flavors added in IMO. Ordering was easy, I felt rushed, but it was the waiting to hear my number that was difficult. Listening for the number in the dining area while the music was blasting was difficult, so it's better to wait by the truck. Parking is limited but there are always cars coming and going so if you can wait a little, a spot will open up.

During this meal, I ordered the: -Chips and Salsa -Steak Fajitas -Cali Burrito with Asada (MY FAVORITE) -Crispy Tacos 3x with Asada -32oz Horchata The seasonings for their meat is extremely noticeable and doesn't overpower the flavor. The same can be said for the seasoning on the chips; it's extremely delicious. My biggest positive for this place is the portion sizes; they don't skimp out on the proteins! Their horchata tastes better than the ones I personally had in Mexico. When comparing this place to establishments like Chipotle, this place easily wins in terms of food quality/freshness and pricing. That kind of reliability is more rare than it should be, and it's worth calling out. The tacos themselves are the main event. The Carne Asada, Suadero, and Al Pastor are all standouts, but the Al Pastor especially earns its spot. They serve it with pineapple, which is the way it's meant to be done and a detail that tells you they actually care about getting it right. These are easily some of the best tacos in San Jose, and I don't say that lightly given how much competition there is in the South Bay. But the drinks alone might be worth the trip. Their Horchata and Agua Fresca are genuinely among the best I've had anywhere in the Bay Area and that's a real statement in a region with no shortage of excellent options. The salsa bar is a nice bonus: a self-serve setup where you scoop what you want into containers, and they send you off with baggies of fresh cilantro and onion so you can finish the tacos exactly how you like them. They actively encourage you to take plenty, which tells you a lot about the kind of place this is. The staff is warm and welcoming on top of everything else. Truly one of the best taco trucks around. Don't sleep on it!!

The tacos were generously filled, the tortillas were delicious, and the aguas frescas were refreshing. There was a small mix-up with our order at first. Our waitress accidentally thought we had only ordered six tacos instead of twelve, so we initially received six tacos, one side of rice and beans, and were still waiting on our drinks. When she came by and noticed one of us wasn't eating, she asked if we were waiting on anything. We explained that we were still supposed to receive six more tacos, another side of rice and beans, and our drinks. She apologized, brought our drinks over right away, and the rest of our food came out quickly. Even with the mix-up, everything was handled professionally, and we appreciated how quickly she fixed it. We originally sat outside, but decided to move inside because of the bugs. The inside of the restaurant was clean, comfortable, and had a welcoming atmosphere. Since it was the Fourth of July, it wasn't busy, which made for a relaxed dining experience. The salsa bar was being prepped, but our waitress gladly brought us fresh limes when we asked. Overall, the food was delicious, the service was friendly, and even though there was a small mistake with our order, it was corrected quickly without any issues. We'll definitely be back! I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.

The sauces themselves were honestly really good though, maybe even a little too good because I feel like I drowned out a lot of the actual meat flavor in both the taco and burrito. The orange sauce has a really nice spicy kick that I enjoyed a lot, and the green sauce tasted super fresh and flavorful. All tacos come with grilled onions and lime, which are excellent additions. I tried the Al pastor, asada, carnitas, and chicharrón. My favorite were the carnitas, which were well seasoned and tender. The Al pastor had a good balance of sweetness from the pineapple. The asada was solid. The chicharrón was kind of gelatinous and I didn't enjoy the texture but that's more a stylistic choice than me thinking they were bad.
