The food was phenomenal!!! John was super attentive, and if you like tacos and tortas this is the place to go. I had the best experience at Tacos Don Chai I definitely will be back read more

Probably one if the best super burritos I've ever had. They melt/crust a layer of cheese in the burrito so it has an amazing texture and cheesiness that uplifts the burrito. The mango salsa is tasty as hell. Just wish the salsa was a little bigger but overall tasty to go food. read more

Tried this little restaurant the other day and was pleasantly surprised by the tacos, moist, hand made tortilla roasted, meat was tender and sauces were just right with guacamole. I was also given a pineapple sauce to top them off and found this added a unique flavor. I will definitely go back time and time again, looking forward to trying other dishes. Been recommending the place since I went. Stop by, you will not be disappointed. read more

Martinez peeps, you have been keeping a secret from me. Why am I just trying the deliciousness at Tacos Don Chai on Howe Road in Martinez?! I popped over there yesterday after an appointment at Kaiser Martinez. It was still pretty early, but who said you can't have tacos for breakfast! I asked the owner, Bryan, what I should try, and he told me they were known for their birria, and I should try some quesatacos, too. I ordered one quesabirria, one quesachicken, and one quesaasada. They were ALL fantabulous! The surprise taco for me was the quesa chicken with pineapple and pineapple salsa; it was the bomb! All the salsas were delish! Seriously, try these tacos! Tacos Don Chai is located in the industrial area of Martinez. Since most of their customers work for the shops and the refinery, they're open from 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. You must get these tacos for lunch or an early dinner, but they're worth it! On Taco Tuesday, tacos are $2.50. They also make an amazing Concha French Toast; OMG, so good! Bryan runs the small restaurant with big flavors with his mom, dad, and even his brother, who jumps in to work when there is a catering gig. Yes, they cater, too! 35 Howe Road, Martinez You can order online https://www.tacosdonchai.com/ Monday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm Tuesday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm Wednesday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm Thursday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm Friday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Sunday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm read more

So don't know where to begin with this place; John AMAZING. I'm originally from NY so I love food. The pineapple salsa is to be used on tacos, salads, burgers you name it...To continue to boast about this place; no meat this month. John accompanied me and cut some fresh vegetables for veggie tacos and did I mention the pineapple salsa for the win! I am a big tea drinker the soursop juice tastes just like home. This is my new morning drink stop because they are open at 7. My favorite place that I found wanting tacos read more

Everything about this place was so good. Everything from the food being well cooked to the service being on top. These guys know how to cook and serve. We had their chicken, birria Tortas, and Quesabirria tacos, which were all so good. The meat was so well cooked, and the tortas tasted perfect. Will definitely be coming back. read more

Swung by here on the way home and ordered a birria breakfast burrito. It was cooked up pretty fast. Within a couple of minutes I was out the door. The burrito is so massive that it's definitely shareable. 3 salsas were provided. I actually liked combining the 3 with each bite and it's delicious. One is sweet, one is mild, and one is roasted and spicy, but together they're amazing. There's a lot of meat and scrambled eggs, and some tater tots. Good proportions. Definitely coming back here. read more

I appreciate their wonderful customer service. They are considerate of people's lunch time restrictions. I ordered on-line my tacos and brisket quesabirrias. The quesabirrias come with consume, which I didn't think I would want but let me tell you it made them even better, dipped in. Delicious. Eating there is fun too. They are small so parking is a challenge, but there is a covered patio to enjoy your food. read more

The pineapple salsa I can drink by the gallon, the flavor of the food is next level, and John is killing it with the service.

This place is AWESOME!! My husband was telling me how everyone at work talks about this place. I was like, ya ya ya...it's just tacos. Well, it's NOT. The flavors of the Birria, chicken, and the pineapple salsa, absolute perfection. Also, I had to go outside and take a phone call in my car while my order was being prepared and the owner ran my order out to my car! I was very impressed by the food and service. Almost went again today. read more

Nice clean place in a blighted area across from the refinery. Greeted hyper enthusiastically upon entry and food delivered in timely manner. The food was hot and the salsas were fresh tasting. It was my first birra with consumme and the beef tasted high quality. It was my favorite and will definitely return for this. read more

Tacos Don Chai - One each taco, quesa birria, and birria taco with apple soda. - Mexican Near Me - Martinez, California

Stopped by for the breakfast burrito to start my day. Not too far off the freeway and a rather small parking lot but also street parking. The place is nice and clean and the staff are friendly as well. The young man that took my order said they had been in business for about 5 months or so. After placing my order it was about a 5 minute wait and I was on my way with a nice hot BB. The sauces they have are a bit thicker and the medium one had a sweet taste to it. Wasn't bad but just different than what I expected. The size of the burrito is good too in comparison to the price you pay. All in all I was happy with the service, taste and time it took. read more

Tacos Don Chai - Front of the restaurant - Mexican Near Me - Martinez, California

Excellent!! My wife and are from San Diego and up until now have been pretty disappointed with most Mexican restaurants, but we'll be searching no longer. Got here midday on Saturday and easily found a spot to sit. Ordering was easy, even for making a substitution for my wife. Food came fairly quickly and MAN oh man is it good! I got the chilaquiles verdes and she got the breakfast burrito, which were both so full of flavor and all the right textures -- just what we missed from SD. We'll definitely be coming back here soon! read more

Food is always great, John helped me out with a drink on a hot day, always great customer service

Read an article about their story on how they started. Family owned so I had to come and support this small business. And it truly is small. No seats inside but a small bar counter if you'd like to eat inside. There are a few tables and chairs outside. I tried their carne asada and birria tacos, they were out of chicken, and forgot to ask for consomé. Both tacos were delicious! Great flavor, lots of meat and melty cheese. Their signature pineapple salsa was so good! I only was able to snap a pic of the carne asada taco because the birria tacos were so good I totally forgot to stop and take a pic. Will definitely come back to get the same order and try more from their limited but delicious menu. read more
