Food: I've been going here for here since it was called La costa and the seafood was amazing especially the aguachiles. I assume it's a new ownership now since not only the name changed but the menu. Now it's more like another regular taqueria they'll sell the common food when it comes to beef and chicken and pork. Not much seafood anymore. Still taste good I'd give it a 7/10 in savory. Service: The service is neutral. They are respectful and quit for the most part pretty neutral. I didn't get the above and beyond in how's your day going or something similar. Straight to the point order and you're done. Which for someone that likes that, this place is really good and could be your cup of tea. I personally prefer an interaction. Simply my opinion. Ambiance: the place is very welcoming and nice I'd give it a 10/10. I'd would definitely eat there. So disappoint that this isn't La Costa anymore. The place only had 1 car in their parking lot on a Sunday afternoon, that should have been our sign to RUN. We had already driven out to Martinez so we decided to give it a chance. Ordered a carnitas "super quesadilla" that is supposed to include Guacamole but it did not. The quesadilla was the worst quesadilla I have ever tasted. It was sitting on top of a pile of GREASE. The staff attempted to make it better by offering to remake it with another choice of meat. The food was really good! I have been to a lot of Mexican restaurants and for this place to be in the city of Martinez, even tho I'm from #socal, this still taste like home. The service was great, asked if I wanted to eat in so they bring me chips, and they have a salsa bar so I could get what ever color of salsa I wanted (always get the green). The way the place is, inside was a little old fashioned but still have a home feeling to it. I like they are very festive and still had up the Cinco de Mayo flags up! This is my favorite taqueria! The food is consistently good with a nice flavor. Great prices too and the staff is always super friendly.

After getting our Covid & flu vaccines, my husband & I decided to get lunch from a restaurant nearby, Los Caporales. FOOD I ordered Camarones ala Diabla & horchata, to drink. It was delicious! There was ample serving of shrimps. And boy, it was super SPICY! My husband got cheese enchilada,which he said was delicious too. SERVICE We ordered from the cashier who then brought our order to our table. When I came back to the counter to buy a refill of horchata (yeah, since that plate was so SPICY...& I loved it!), he didn't even charge me for it. That was nice. I dropped a few dollar bills for him as a tip, when we finished. Thank you ( guy who had a black hair, pony-tailed, maybe about 5'10." in height. He was wearing a mask so I couldn't see his face). Woke up this morning after a night of drinks and needed a breakfast burrito! I put an order in through door dash so I never went in to check out the dinning room or the ambiance. The service received by door dash was great and the food was amazing! We ordered two break fast burritos, one with chicken and other with carnitas. The burritos including breakfast potatoes that were nice and soft, carnitas that was super moist, egg all with the right ratio. The only complaint is that if you get the carnitas the tortilla might be a little oily so make sure you have napkins! The chicken had the same ingredients and was delicious. Great price too! You also are able to order a Micheladas to go. My friend said the drinks usually already come prepared but this time we got Michelada bud light cans and we had to add all the extras... we have all the usual ingredients at home lol. read more

I've eaten here many times and always enjoy their food. Also, there's a salsa bar with lots of items to add to your tacos, burritos, etc. When this place took over the location from La Costa, I'll admit that I was a bit skeptical at first. However, those ideas quickly changed once I tried their food and quick, friendly service. The ambience and location are enjoyable as well. I'd say that Los Caporales is as good as La Costa was. I used to go to this place all the time and was good! I recently heard that it's recently changed management/ownership. My friend told me the place is no longer any good at all. But, I had I to try it for myself and he was right, it's absolutely horrible! Today, I ordered a wet burrito & It was very bland and tasted like they just smothered tomato sauce all over the top. Once again they charged me for a Super Burrito, which I ordered then failed to add the guacamole and sour cream. This is something they do to many of their clients, so it's done on purpose. They are stealing our money by charging for something we do not get. Three of my co-workers and I went there and twice this has happened. I took my kid to get his favorite taco at La Costa last night. We walked inside and noticed that there was a large, new bright menu and that everything was more expensive. And then we realized that La Costa had become Los Caporales. I had a bad feeling about the new restaurant because it was empty and lacked the fun vibe of La Costa. We ordered 4 super tacos for $4.99 each. Everything about the tacos was awful. The tortillas were cold and clearly came from a bulk purchase at Costco. The guacamole was bland and came from a tub. The chicken lacked any flavor. The salsa managed to be worse than Pace Picante. The cold taco was covered with a massive amount of cold, bland white cheese. Martinez is blessed with many great tacos. The chef needs to quickly visit these restaurants and learn how to make a tasty taco. People aren't going to pay $5 for a taco that would be frowned upon at a school cafeteria. read more
