Seems like a lot of Tacos El Cuñado's are springing up everywhere. Jenison has a good franchise with nice owners. Prices recently risen, sometimes they can get an order wrong, but mostly things taste good. We usually get take out but the other day I dined in and enjoyed a burrito and a horchata. I was surprised that they give complimentary chips and salsa. Everything tasted good. This is usually are go to when the family wants Mexican. Happy to have Tacos El Cuñado in town. I struggled to make it in here because I thought they didn't have seating- I STAND CORRECTED! There IS seating, and table service! We were started with some delicioussss chips and salsa- why is chunky salsa so superior??? I got the taco trio, and Derek got the wet burrito. UGH some of the best tacos I've had in a longgggg time! Derek said the same about his burrito. I also tried the tripa y lengua tostada- not going to lie, this was not for me I'd never had lengua OR tripe so I was being a bit ambitious and didn't know what I was getting myself into- I'm sure it's great, if you're into that, but, not my thing Anyway, great authentic food, a casual atmosphere but the service was great, and everyone was very kind. read more

We were not pleased. Definitely not the service we would have expected when ordering and picking up. I remember having Tacos El Cunado when it was a little stand and they had one at the down town market. This is for sure not nearly as good. The only thing that was good was the rice! The service was good, food was good. Was disappointed that a tiny cup of salsa with no chips was almost $3, but the man taking my order did ask if it was ok. So my fault for purchasing. Was visiting Grand Rapids and looked into Mexican options near by when I found this place. It's a local chain; they have 5 or so stores nearby, so I thought I'd give it a try. And I'm glad I did. This place has the best rice and beans. Very flavorful, and this is coming from someone who does not generally enjoy rice and beans. Their burritos and tortas were delicious as well, though I would not recommend getting chorizo torta--the chorizo got everywhere. Next time I'm nearby, I'm going to try their tacos. read more

Amazing, I always bring friends from back home here as well as family and they always request it when they come back for a visit. Me and my boyfriend tried it and always set out to come on Tuesdays for the $7.99 for three tacos deal. Unlike other restaurants currently they don't charge for chips and salsa. Very quaint and perfectly informal so you can relax and not worry about dining room expectations. We stopped in here on a Sunday night on our way back to the east side of town. Lots of to go orders happening but we were the only ones eating in. I'm a big fan of the original tacos el Cunado but I feel like none of the other locations have quite been as good. I ordered chorizo, Al pastor, and asada tacos. All were fine. If I were on this side of town, I'd stop here again if I wanted tacos. There are definitely better places in other parts of the city. I felt like the tortillas needed salt and the proteins were just very middle of the road. read more

The food was bland and tasteless, the rice was basically colored white rice. The delivery person was nice but, he brought the food to my door in a plastic bag on a freezing night, when I had anticipated the food to be brought to me in a styrofoam box or another heat retaining container. Took my family there for dinner tonight after a soccer game. Honestly, it was one of the best meals I have had in a month. The tacos were delicious and I had some of my son's chicken quesadilla. Guacamole was out of this world. Everything was incredible. Truly incredible. I highly recommend this place and plan to come back any time I am in Jenison. It is so amazing - I really mean it. Phenomenal Mexican food. The wet burritos are huge, stuffed full of meat, and topped with the most heavenly red sauce I've ever tasted. The tacos also always have generous helpings, which sets them way above a lot of taco places. Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the guacamole! The portion is very generous, the ingredients are always fresh, the flavor is incredible, and the price is unbeatable. Even if you don't normally like guacamole, I'd be willing to bet you'll love it here! We do takeout - and the wait is always short, the staff is always friendly. Tacos El Cuñado is an authentic "hole in the wall" Mexican restaurant that I haven't heard as much talk about, but is well deserving. I came in for their Taco Tuesday deal - $6.99 for 3 tacos - choice of asada, pollo, pastor or chorizo. I also ordered a small horchata and a side of rice. My total came to just under $15 and that included tip! Definitely a great deal. The dine-in area was well kept and the staff was enthusiastic and efficient! Dine-in came with chips and salsa, and additional toppings (pictured) for the tacos. The sautéed onions and jalapeños were flavorful but pretty spicy. The pickled onions were good and sweet, and their homemade salsa verde and rojo were great. The horchata was self-serve and it was just okay to me. I wish it was a little sweeter but that's just personal preference - I probably wouldn't get it again. Next time I'll try their jamaica which looked promising! I didn't care for the asada or the side of rice - both were a little dry and I wish the rice had some more flavor. The pastor taco was phenomenal and the pollo really surprised me! I tend to shy away from pollo tacos (anywhere) because they can tend to be dry, but the flavor and the tenderness of the pollo here was amazing. Would definitely order at least one pollo taco each time I return. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and will definitely be back. I look forward to trying their other proteins! read more

We were in town and looking for a spot for a quick lunch. Stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a shot. We were so glad we did! The waitress was friendly and attentive, she served complimentary chips and salsa right away, we order shrimp, steak and pork tacos, all delicious, they came with fresh onions and grilled onions and Jalapeños. I'm visiting family and someone recommended this place. We had 7 people and decided to dine in. On the positive, the chicken quesadilla was good. However, fajitas were dry and the steak wet burrito tasted terrible (like bad meat). When we complained about the food, the response was they had to charge us anyway. We even questioned if it was steak (looked like ground beef). We were told "it's just a different type of steak". They did offer us an alternative (quesadilla) but charged us for that too!! We paid without further complaint, still leaving a good tip for the waitress. It took several minutes for everyone to get ready to leave. As we left another person at the counter said loudly "who's taking care of the bill?" Across the restaurant. Totally inappropriate for customer service on so many different levels.
