I really like the food here, it just tastes fresh and not greasy. The service is generally pretty good and the wait is usually reasonable. The Cubana sandwich was amazing! We also ordered tacos and a couple different burritos, all of which were tasty, but the Cubana definitely stole the show. This place is a typical hole in the wall, so if those types of places make you squirm you may want to steer clear. The service was very friendly (we are not Hispanic, so previous comments about poor service to non Hispanic doesn't hold up, sorry). Amazing that Centralia has two different and delicious Mexican restaurants. I highly recommend trying tacos with a variety of meats. My boyfriend and I love the: adobado, barbacoa, and al pastor. Expect quick and friendly service but don't expect ambience-- it's usually cold, there's cracks in the window, and there are distractingly bizarre/awesome Spanish language tv shows on in the background. read more

This place may look a little " iffy" but the food is spectacular!! My all time favorite is the Carne torta, its just heaven! It comes with Jalapenos on it, I just take them off rather than ordering it with out them, as it leaves a tiny bit of the flavor, with out the heat, which is perfect for me. It makes me sad to post this review but I feel I must. I have lived in centraila for 48 years and i have been going to Taco's El Rey from the beginning when they had the bus only. But in the last few years they have gone down hill and today was the worst food I have ever had there. The chicken torta was ice cold and the bread was mush and very thin and fell apart everywhere. The burrito was also ice cold and I only live 2 minutes from the place so it should be at least warm. So sad I actually have them programmed on my phone but after this I am not going to eat there anymore there is better places in town. read more

Ate here at the halfway of the Seattle to Portland ride. I'm from San Diego, so I've eaten my share of carnitas. This is the real deal. These carnitas are among the best I've had. Later the same day we ate at the other place across town that says carnitas are their specialty. That place was ok. Tacos El Rey was WAAAAYYY better. They should open a place in Seattle. A delicious find in Centralia! The Mexican food is authentic, fresh, tasty and affordable. It is not fast food and the place is family owned/operated. They also have Venezuelan arepas! Ate here at night on a long trip home, my fiancée and I had the beef steak burritos. The beef was a little crunchy and salty, the portions were cheap and good sized. Better than fast food but just. This has to be the best Mexican food I have ever had in the state of Washington. If I could I would give this place 4.5 stars. I wish they would move closer to Seattle because I am certain they would do well. Based on reviews on Yelp I decided to stop here for a quick dinner run on our way back home as they are also one of the few places that stay open late. I ordered the chicken burrito and one beef taco. Loved my chicken burrito! Thinking about it now makes my mouth water. The beef taco was alright to me but my kids and husband enjoyed it. Their menu had cow tongue, brain, and etc. for those who are into other animal body parts. One last thing...I think there is parking on both sides of the restaurant. Park on the right side if you want a paved lot or you'll be inhaling dust with gravel parking on the left side where their bus is parked. read more

If you have a hankering for authentic Mexican food that is cheap and delicious then this is the place for you! El Rey to the locals is known as "the taco bus" or "the wagon". The burritos (pork or chicken) are great! My favorite is the chicken torta. It's like an explosion of Mexican chicken Hamburger-ness. The kids love steak tacos plain. Everyone eats happy here. I used to love this place, especially their chicken super burrito, until this evening. I got my regular burrito, expecting the usual shredded chicken, beans, rice, sour cream, so when I bit in and tasted a HUGE glob of MAYO in the place of sour cream, I was horrified. I'm giving Tacos El Rey five stars because of the flavor and cost of the food they serve, it is simply the best value in town. For the price, you absolutely cannot get a better meal. This business used to be run out of a bus parked next to the building for several years, and they finally moved into the building. The interior is not fancy: it has two giant tv's playing the Mexican music channel or sports and the food is served on paper plates. Despite the stark atmosphere, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an excellent value. I always get the fish tacos, and while I was a little skeptical about fish tacos at first, my mouth waters just thinking about them. These tacos are the best I've ever had, and trust me, I have tried to find any that even compare in Mexico, to no avail. The corn tortillas are hand-made and incredibly delicious.
