A friend recommended this place to me. I do love fish tacos and seafood in general. The menu is large with lots of variety and several things looked good. Service was very friendly, and it's always good to have a parking lot in Highland Park - a very busy area. The fish taco I got was tasty in every way but I found the fish to smell too fishy. It was fresh and freshly made - I just think it was not the most neutral choice of fish. I also with the batter was more crispy. I would be willing to give them another chance and try sometehing else on the menu.

This place is walking distance from my house, and I've been meaning to check it out for quite some time. I finally did the other day and wished I hadn't waited so long. Taco Ensenada specializes in Baja style fish tacos, but their extensive menu also features burritos, quesadillas, tostadas, and more - all at a reasonable price. It's small inside with about five tables. The décor is lively with colorful fish along the wall. The man behind the counter was very friendly and I ordered a fish taco ($3.75) and shrimp taco ($3.99) to go. He asked if I wanted it with everything and I said, "yes." I didn't have to wait long for my food and quickly walked home so I could grub. The tacos looked so good. I couldn't wait to take a bite. The batter on the fish & shrimp was still crispy. The fish was flaky and tender and the shrimp plump and juicy. They were encased in two soft corn tortillas and topped with thinly sliced cabbage, Pico de Gallo, & crèma. They were both delicious! I'm glad I finally tried this place. Next time, I'm ordering a burrito. *Parking lot *Cash Only

Came here with a craving for seafood and wasn't disappointed. The facilities leave something to be desired and clearly haven't been updated in years, if not decades, but I ate every bite of my tostada de aguachile which was exactly what I was craving. They have an open bar of sides like pickled onions and grilled jalapeños which I nibbled on while we waited for our food which did take a solid twenty-ish minutes probably. But when all was said and done I enjoyed my dish and finished every bite. They have a small parking lot too.

I love fish taco Tuesdays here - you get two hefty fish tacos for 3.24. AMAZING! The salsa provided at the table goes well with the creamy white sauce (unsure what it is but it's so good.) I love that their lettuce is on the softer shredded side. It's a bit skimpy on the veggie toppings but size of the piece of fish and the condiment bar make up for it. Came in on Tuesday after 7:30 PM and managed to snag a corner booth. Condiment bar was minimal but the lemons were juicy and the pickled onions were spicy. I also tried the ceviche which didn't taste as fresh as it could but was a nice treat for lunch the next day (got too full off two tacos). No bathroom, but the service was friendly in both Spanish and English, and the vibes are there! They share a parking lot with a few other businesses but there's also street parking.

Taco Tuesday! Great prices for tacos on Tuesdays. There's a huge variety of seafood tacos and burritos, but there are also non-seafood options. The fish tacos were super yum! The chicken burrito was also tasty and filling. There are six 2-person tables that line one side of the shop and 2 booths that can fit six persons each. Before 7pm, the shop was empty with a few take away pick ups. After 7pm, however, the shop was full and seats were scarce. The lady taking the orders was super nice and helpful. Spanish and English. Shared parking in the strip mall.

Food: 5/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 I first discover Taocs Ensenada couple years ago at their original location in Duarte. I'm so glad they opened up different location, and the one in Highland Park happened to be the closest one to my house. I would say this is 100% a legit taco place. My usual order are the Al Pastor, Carne Asada, Tripa, Fish Tacos, and Burrito. The Fish tacos is out of this world! They gave you a generous piece of the fish tacos. The Al Pastor and Carne Asada are always juicy. Everything is really good and satisfying! Although don't expect too much from customer service standpoint. The service is pretty much inconsistent ever since the pandemic hit. However, it's not a deal breaker for me, I came for the food and the service is not going to stop me! Overall, I had tons of positive experiences than the bad ones. I would highly recommend this place.

Carne Asada Tacos for $3.25. Much better than most OVERPRICED Taco stands. GO on Thursday for their 2x1 special. For Fish Taco Tuesdays, go to the "other" place a block away.

    Outside

The lady wasn't only not friendly or helpful, she didn't have the coins to give me full change so she just shorted me sixty cents and didn't say anything. When I pointed it out she just shrugged and said something in Spanish. Like wtf. Most importantly the tacos were just ok, fish tacos should have crunch but these were soggy. Yeah never coming back here I'll just go to Baja Cali a few doors down.

Now when you pull up originally you might think, "am I in the right place" but once you park and get into the courtyard, it is LOVELY! Amazing ambience! There is a bocce set up, string lights. It is a little slice of oasis in the middle of the fashion district. The restaurant itself - beautiful. I couldn't ask for more. Absolutely perfect in my book. Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The service was quick and attentive. Parking was easy for us. I will definitely be back!

The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

They guide you to the entrance which about one hundred feet north. Walking in you're shown many awards, culminating in a 2025 Michelin. There must have been a special occasion to be welcomed by music that was incredibly loud. We sat down, and I couldn't hear myself think, or the waiters voices. We asked for another table, but unfortunately that brought a certain type of attitude from the host. I'm sure the music would have been nice if it wasn't as loud, on amplified speakers. After finally being seated, near the bar, the service seemed great. Seating seemed plentiful, but I can now see why a reservation is necessary. To start, the appetizer we chose was a queso fundido which was ok on their smaller tortillas. I must have been spoiled by Chalio's homemade giant tortillas. Chalio's on Atlantic by the way. Guelageutza uses sautéed mushrooms, and they garnished it with this guacamole that didn't really taste that good. Mushrooms on the fundido didn't seem right, but individually they tasted great. The chorizo was ok. My gf likes to try those types of apps. They're not known for that, so I can let it pass. Our order was taken, food was quick, and hot. The attentiveness of the staff was good, but their smiles were absent. Must have had a long day. I got the black Mole chicken, my gf got the enchilada negras(black mole) topped with their tesajo. My dish was good, hot, and full of mole, which was delicious as well. They served it with their tiny homemade corn tortillas. They have several types of mole. My gf got the enchiladas Oaxaceñas and it looked good until I took a bite of the enchiladas. They just poured mole over the tortillas and that's where the flavor went flat. The tortillas were dry and not dipped in the sauce. Traditionally in my family, we fry our tortillas lightly in oil, or lard, and roll them in the sauce. My gf didn't even finish them. I ate all of my meal, and I took her enchiladas home. They were even worse as leftovers. I tried to order their traditional flan, but they had ran out, so I ordered their tres leches. It was ok. I was really disappointed that they ran out of flan though. All in all, this establishment was ok. The atmosphere seemed very manufactured, but I've never had the pleasure of visiting Oaxaca. The mole negro was delicious on the chicken. Seeing that It was recommended on Yelp, I agreed with the statement of picking that dish. The bathrooms were great with a good amount of stalls. I can't say that about a lot of good delicious Mexican food restaurants here in LA. They seem to be more of an afterthought with some. Reminding myself this was Michelin rated restaurant, I didn't get that same feeling with the food though. This now, will give me an excuse to look into why a restaurant is rated as such to understand why that matters so much.
