This place was bookmarked by my bf as a place to try while in Ensenada. We just had a massage and our driver dropped us off here. We were told that this was not a tourist spot but a place frequented by locals. The menu was simple, shrimp or fish tacos. They actively fry the food in front of you, so you know it's fresh. Then you have a plethora of toppings and various sauces to dress your tacos. Most people are standing when they're eating. Luckily we scored a table, which is one of three. This was a really good spot for fried fish and fried shrimp tacos. It's a little bit out of the ways from downtown Ensenada, but it is totally worth the trip. It's about a quick 15 minute brisk walk from downtown. I preferred the shrimp tacos over the fish, but both really good. The shrimp were a little bit crispy which I loved. The bonus is that you can fix it up however you want. They give various options of toppings including lettuce, radish, and different type of salsas. Tacos Fénix has absolutely delicious and crispy tacos that are a must try when in Ensenada! They only come in Shrimp and Fish but both are so darn good. Plus for 2 shrimp tacos and 2 fish tacos it was only $10 usd. If you don't have cash in pesos, they also do take Apple Pay. When we went they had a crazy long line, I think we waited about 30 minutes in sun to order. However once you get to the front of the line, it's a super quick process with food ready to go. Once you get your tacos, you then scurry to put on whatever toppings and salsas you like. There are only a couple of tables and they were very full & busy when we were there so we took our tacos to the nearby river to eat. A lot of people stand around and just eat there. Just do yourself a favor if you're anywhere near Ensenada or Valle de Guadalupe: stop at this little street stand for their fish and shrimp tacos. Hands down the best fish tacos I've ever had. I'm already annoyed knowing nothing back home is going to compare. Another famous fish taco place in Ensenada. It's a food stand so be prepared to stand if you go when it's busy. It was a bit of a walk from the cruise port - about 30 minutes. The walk is also off the touristy path and can seem a little sketchy. Food wise, I had a fish and a shrimp taco. They come as is (tortilla and protein) and you add the condiments yourself. There's a good selection of Lettace, tomatoes, onions, and various salsas & hot sauces. Both are nicely battered and good size portions. Personally I liked the shrimp better than the fish. Overall an okay place for fish tacos. However it wasn't worth the walk for me. There are other places that are just as good or better with less of a walk. This is a little taco stand opposite the marina. This is a very busy little spot. They have fried fish and shrimp tacos that were $16.00 US for 8 fish tacos. I think the shrimp cost a bit more. The service was great, the pricing was very transparent, and, of course, the most important thing was that they were delicious. They are served with several different sauces and condiments. Port day in Ensenada from our cruise ship and didn't make any plans. We were off the boat early (845/9) and most of the places near the port were still closed so we made the 20 minute walk to this little taco stand since it was open, and it did NOT disappoint! Some of the roads were a little dicey so watch your step. The shrimp and fish tacos were delicious and lightly crispy!! Really flavorful and the salsa and sauces were super tasty as well. This is supposedly the home of the Baja taco. We stopped in and tried a couple. We were warned ahead of time that the various salsa were quite hot. We opted for the chipotle cream. The fish was very mild with a thin coating. We felt that the Salsa overwhelmed the flavor of the fish. It has a small number of tables and many of us ate on our feet. Every time we visit Ensenada this is a must stop several times on our trip because the fish tacos are unlike anything you have tried. So simple and authentic yet so elegant and masterful in how the friendly folks in this small taco stand make beer battered fish and shrimp tacos. The service is great and there is always a full stand and sometimes a line to order these delicious tacos. You have your choice of either fish or shrimp tacos and can top them off with all the fixings from pico, cabbage to your favorite choice of green or red salsa and chipotle dressing. Sometimes I wish I had 2 stomachs because I always end up eating at least 6 or more of these tacos. They are generously portioned and surprisingly great priced. Had a cruise stop in Ensenada and heard Tacos Fenix had amazing tacos so had to give it a try. This is a decent 15 minute-ish walk from the port so if you feel like you are going the wrong way, you are not. We took a double stroller with my two kiddos and the adults I was with kept asking if these tacos were worth the struggle. Everyone agreed once we ate there that it was well worth it. My husband even said it was the best shrimp tacos he's ever had. My father in law can be particular about his food and he was singing their praises. The fish and shrimp tacos are a great price and they have the most amazing assortment of toppings from multiple sauces/salsas to different veggies (both picked and not picked). I preferred the shrimp taco over the fish taco because it had more of a bite/texture while the fish was softer overall. You get in line and make your taco request (recommend ordering as you eat so each taco is hot and fresh--plus service is quick) and dress it as you wish. Honestly the best fish tacos I've ever had. I, along with many others, ventured to Tacos Fenix because our cruise ship stopped in the Ensenada port, and we wanted to experience some great local cuisine. My friends and I made the 20-ish minute trek to Tacos Fenix, and it was a journey to say the least, but we never felt unsafe or in any real danger. I know that it can be a bit jarring leaving the touristy areas around the port, but I almost felt like I was embodying the spirit of any great foodie, as surely the food is worth the trip. And boy was it. Tacos Fenix had arguably the best shrimp and fish tacos I've ever tasted. And the price?! Jeez. I never want to order one back in the US again after eating these tacos. When we arrived, there was kind of a confusing line situation, but we sorted it out quite quickly. You order and then you pay, with the line kind of moving from left side (where the frying station is) to the right (towards the cashier). I also wanted to call out that they do take credit cards, or at least did when I went in late February 2025. The price doesn't appear to be any different either if you use card, so if you can't find any pesos, don't fret! 1000% recommend going to Tacos Fenix if you are in Ensenada. The walk is about 20-25 minutes from port, and we decided to lead the whole family here. My praying it was worth it because I will not hear the end of it from them if we walked this far. The road leading to here is NOT stroller friendly. But the food, ASIAN FAMILY STAMP OF APPROVAL. Iykyk. They offer only fish and shrimp tacos on the menu. I had to try both and they were SOO GOOD. People even ordered seconds. My boyfriend doesn't even like seafood and said it was good! It was perfected battered and dried. No fishy aftertaste at all. And the shrimp was sweet! I would definitely go again. Fair warning it is a taco stand with only a few stools. So it's an eat and go kind of spot. Came to Cabo on one of the cruise ships and Tacos Fenix has been on my radar for a while. Finally had a chance to check them out since I missed out last year. From the port area where we were dropped off, it was a good 15-20 minute walk to Tacos Fenix. Funny because it seemed like a few of the cruisers were on the same mission as we were all heading in the same direction. Once we got there, the line was pretty decently sized but it moved quickly. You let them know what type of tacos you'd like and they have the toppings along the counter in which you like. There's cabbage, tomato, and lemon. cream and a variety of salsas. The deep-fried shrimp and fish were seasoned well, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I didn't even notice it being oil at all. Great-tasting tacos and they're good-sized! This place is definitely a must in Ensenada! For 4 generous sized tacos and 3 sodas, it was $12 US, which isn't bad at all! The workers at the stand are friendly and are fast at what they do. We have been to Ensenada a few times and we always, always, always go searching for street tacos. Tacos Fénix specializes in seafood tacos - batter fried fish (pescado - 30 pesos) and shrimp (camarones - 25 pesos). You order, they give to you, you put on your own toppings, eat on the sidewalk sitting on little round chairs and pay either before or after eating. Horchatas are also inexpensive at 25 pesos a cup. Nice crunchy batter with tender fish and shrimp on the inside. We love the green sauce. Deep down the side streets of Ensenada, past the tourist zone, lies a taco cart on the North side of the road named Tacos Fenix. It's easy to miss, as I was on the opposite side of the street and walked right by it without even noticing. However, once you find this street side gem, you'll have a new found love for the batter fried fish taco. The cart is large, but very unassuming for a taco cart. There are bowls of cabbage and salsa, and squeeze bottle filled with tomatillo sauce, crema and other delicious items to top your golden brown, melt in your mouth Tacos Fenix fish taco. To say that the fish taco here is the best I've ever had, doesn't even begin to do the taste justice. A large fryer full of lard floats dozens of battered fish taco meat just waiting to be made into tacos and consumed on the sidewalk. The staff was friendly; and the cart was super clean for it being in what some may consider an area of blight and decay. However, the walk from the tourist zone to this location felt as safe as any other area, but with far less harassment to come get a beer or buy a souvenir. The order process is somewhat rudimentary, there is no actual line and as one reviewer stated "Disorder is the order." Meaning just walk right up and fire off what you want and it will be immediately placed in front of you to load up with whatever goodies you see fit to place into the delicious creation. You pay when you are done, and they will keep pumping out tacos to you as long as you are ordering them. The price is almost absurdly cheap at a little over a dollar a taco. You can pay with American money but you will receive pesos as your change, which was fine since I intended to enjoy a beer somewhere while I was here for the day. These fish tacos melt in your mouth and have a flavor unlike any other i have ever tried. I would absolutely make the trip to Ensenada if only for the Tacos Fenix fish tacos. This is a street cart the is walking distance from the cruise ship terminal but it is in the real community ... don't be afraid! There are a few crates to sit but it's usually crowded so be prepared to stand and eat. If you lean against the wall watch out for the pigeons that hang out above your head... they will drop an unwanted special sauce on your taco. The walk is worth it. The shrimp tacos were good, but nothing beats these fish tacos. The fish is bigger than the tortilla and served plain. The fish and shrimp were lightly battered, fried to perfection with a crispy outside and fresh deliciousness inside. All the garnishes are placed in front of you. I added pico del gallo, cabbage, chipotle crema to mine. It made for the perfect bite but didn't overpower the flavor of the fish at all. Located in the non-touristy side of the town, this taco truck delivers amazing shrimp and fish tacos. Battered and fried fresh right in front of you, the batter is so light and crispy. Just order one of each first, then come back for some more - you can pay altogether at the end, they're pretty lax with that. All the toppings are self-serve and it's awesome! And I love how they have the sink at the end to wash your hand before/after eating! They have horchata and hibiscus (Jamaica) and various sodas for drinks.
