Very tasty and affordable Mexican street food located out near the USF campus on Fletcher Avenue. Tacos Gone Mobile is a bright red food truck / trailer, parked by the side of Fletcher, and across the parking lot from the Kaleisia Tea Lounge. I see them at this location all the time, so this is more of a "permanent food truck". They open at 11 in the morning, and stay open until 9 at night - later on the weekends. The menu is very basic, but also fresh and tasty. You have two types of tacos -- regular and supreme. Both are served on corn tortillas, but the supreme includes diced cabbage, tomatoes, and a sour cream drizzle added onto the basic meat, cilantro and onions found on the regular taco. They also serve huaraches, tortas, burritos, tostadas, quesadillas, and two types of soup (weekends only). For the meat filling choices you can order steak, chicken, pork, chorizo sausage, tongue, tripe, and pork skin. They also have a wide mix of traditional sodas, water, energy drinks, Jarritos sodas, and Aguas Frescas. There are two ladies working inside the truck. Both are super friendly, and they speak perfect English, so don't be shy about asking questions. You place your order at the window, pay, and then they start cooking. They'll call your name when your order is ready, and you can either pick up your food to go, or take it on a tray over to their covered seating area to eat. Immediately adjacent to the trailer is an area with folding communal tables and chairs, and that all sits under a permanent aluminum roof. When there's a nice afternoon breeze this is a pleasant place to sit and enjoy your meal, although you are right next to the traffic on Fletcher Avenue. I ordered two tacos supremos -- one with steak, and the other with chorizo sausage. The food was very fresh and tasty, and the tortillas had been warmed on the flat top, and double stacked to prevent any of those nasty punctured tortilla spills. I never actually stopped until a friend of mine said it was the best tacos she has ever had and the girl knows her tacos.The way you know it's legit is because there is always a line and within the line are mostly people of which I assume look like they are of latin origins. I took that as another great sign that these tacos might be the real deal. Let me just put it out there, I can't stop coming to this place. I have showed and told so many people about this taco stand that it should definitely not be going out of business soon. So the tacos. When you go to order there are two styles of tacos, regular and supreme. My understanding is basically with or without veggies. The supreme comes with tomatoes, sour creme, onions, cabbage, cilantro, lime, and a green chili pepper. Once you pick your style you pick the type of meat, which includes chorizo (spicy spanish seasoned sausage), steak, chicken, shredded pork and two other options that I forgot. The taste just seems so authentic and real that you know its the best tacos you will ever have. The tacos are also double wrapped so they don't fall apart and get soggy which is awesome! They have other options, but my favorite is the taco's because it is literally $2.50 per taco and you get full with 2. SO CHEAP! If you're balling on a budget then this place is for you. This is my new favorite taco spot! Near Kaleisia on Fletcher Avenue (next plaza over), I have been passing this truck forever and I finally decided to give it a try. The guy that takes your order is really friendly and takes pride in his business. I have tried their tacos supreme ($2.25) , regular tacos ($2), and tortas ($6). Taco supremes have more veggies and sour cream while the regular tacos just have cilantro and onions. Here are some of the meats I tried: Carnitas - shredded pork, good taste, standard Chorizo - big chunks of the sausage instead of ground chorizo but I love chorizo so a win for me Lengua - beef tongue, tender but a little drier than I'm used to Al pastor - my favorite! juicy, flavorful pork pieces I had the torta with carne asada (steak) which was filled to the max with meat and veggies and the mayo (I love the mayo on tortas!). I liked how they packed two tacos per box which lets the tacos breathe (lol) and not get squooshed. I had a total of 3 to go boxes for 4 tacos and a torta. Each box comes with awesome grilled onions and a green pepper. I also really like their red salsa and the green guacamole-like sauce. This place is pretty authentic and I constantly saw people rolling up to pick up their orders. I would suggest calling in if you already know what you want. Also, check to make sure their credit card machine is working. The last time I went, their machine was down and I didn't have cash on me so I missed out on awesome tacos :( read more

I get 2 steak tacos, and ask for the spicy sauces if they're not out on the table bc they bring the flavorrrr out even more. I've tried the other meats (cow tongue, tripe, etc) and I recommend you try them if you haven't before, the textures are fun. I think the pricing is great for how good it tastes. The only downside is you have to wait a bit since they make it fresh, so not somewhere to go if you're in a huge rush (although according to other reviews you can just call ahead and pick up). read more

I've always had good experiences when I go to food trucks. What's not to like about them? The fast food experience, the ability to sit in the comfort of your own car while pigging out, or just the cheap prices of them? My favorite proteins are the (cow) tongue, or the pork skin (beware, it's a little spicy). I usually get the regulars tacos, instead of the supreme because even with the regulars, there is so much in the taco that it constantly falls out. I couldn't even IMAGINE adding on more toppings with the supreme. If you wanted to, you could use one regular taco to fill up 2 tortillas, and you'd still be completely satisfied. My favorite thing about this place is their homemade tortillas. I would also recommend their horchatas. Their horchatas are definitely well-made and I become so disappointed whenever they run out, so I would suggest getting here AT LEAST 3 hours before they close to try the horchata. Trust me, it's THAT worth it. You can tell that the flavorings were not previously a powder that they just added some milk to. They are also quite busy at times, when the wait can take up to a 45 minutes or more. If the wait is long, they will warn you beforehand, which is much appreciated. You can either sit in the little wagon that they have, or you can get it as take-out and appreciate it somewhere else. As someone who appreciates a little Taco Bell from time to time, but appreciates an authentic taco even more, I would say these are authentic. They have more than tacos, but tacos are what you want. $2 for regular taco (meat, cilantro, sauce), $2.25 for supreme (meat, cabbage, pico, sour cream, etc etc). You can get four HUGE tacos for less than a $10. The meat option are pork, pastor, beef, tongue... it's all classic street taco. The line at the mainstream taco joint was packed so I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. I received fast and friendly service, and was pleasantly surprised that it cost only $7 for 3 tacos supreme. Both beef and chorizo tacos were generously stuffed with zesty meat and veggie fillings, and the sauteed onions and serrano pepper were a nice touch. The guac sauce has a good kick. This place has authentic tacos that are delicious! I had the steak and the chicken deluxe tacos and they had a lot of flavor. I really liked the red and green salsa that came with them. It added a nice kick to my tacos. While these tacos aren't as impressive as capital tacos in terms of flavor combinations, this place is solid! This is probably my second favorite taco place in town after Capital. These tacos are way better than Loli's! I just wish they also had horchata to drink like Loli's but they do have a lot of other drink choices that are displaced by where you order. Taco Tuesdays, Taco Thursdays, Taco erryday! In my quest to find the best $1 in Tampa (I know these probably don't exist outside of SoCal), I stumbled upon Tacos Gone Mobile. My friend made the grand statement that this place has the best tacos in the Bay. Only one way to find out right? Tacos Gone Mobile has a variety of options beyond the normal taco. I'm going to highlight the taco supremo and the taco regulares since that's what I ordered. Literally the only difference between the two tacos is that the supremo has cabbage, tomato, and sour cream. Now if adding these three ingredients make you "supremo", sign me up! I got the al pastor and the asada. Both meats were seasoned very nicely and had hella...and I mean hella juices flowing. The taco tortillas themselves were quite oily, but the greased just added to the flavor. I would say they are slightly heavy handed with their use of cilantro, but can't complain too much. I would definitely come here over Taco Bus ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. This is the worst taco bus I have experienced. I order a chicken burrito that was filled with lettuce and tomatoes. When I picked up the burrito I discovered it was soggy from all the liquid from tomatoes, lettuce and little bit of chicken. I asked the guy taking the order if they sold chips and salsa, he said yes. I bought an order of "chips and salsa".
