Enchilada Combination Plate, sorry already ate the other Enchilada before I took this picture.
Patrick L.

La Mordida was definitely a mixed bag this time around. We got enchiladas and tacos this time. The enchiladas (Pastor, chicken, and carnitas - rare options for this item) were great. The tacos on the other hand were pretty dry. Each dish came with rice and beans. The beans were likely the saltiest I ever had. Not sure if it was just an accident or not but something to take note of. Overall there could be improvements.

I just went for lunch after a long hiatus due to quality and and consistency issues. I ordered a crispy taco plate with two ground beef tacos. The ground beef's texture was akin to the mystery meat in a Taco Bell taco. It had very little flavor, and was mushy like refried beans. I don't know how they cook their meat, but it wasn't appealing.

Last week was the last time I will eat here they put lettuce in a burrito that's all I gotta say that's a no no

I ordered a bean and cheese burrito and there was literally no beans in the burrito at all. The entire thing was cheese and disgusting. How the heck do you mess that up?

La Mordida has been one of my go-to taquerias for almost the past 5 years now. Unfortunately, I've started to notice that the quality of both the food and service has gone waaaay down hill. Despite this, I've still continued to patronize this business because I generally enjoy the food and I love supporting my local businesses. I guess I've been in denial for a while, but the food just hasn't tasted the same for the past year and half. Tonight was honestly the final straw for me. I ordered my usual which is their crispy chicken tacos. The previous time that I had ordered these, they forgot to add guacamole and also charged me a fee which they never really explained was for. Today, I picked up my tacos with such excitement because it's been a while since I've had them. Took my first bite and it didn't taste right at all. At first I thought that maybe it was the salsa. But after taking another bite, I realized that something tasted old and spoiled. They remembered the guacamole this time, but it was bad. Spoiled. Rancid. I opened the taco just to double check. Sure enough, the guac was brown and old looking. Like, really y'all? Did you not think that I was gonna taste that sh*t? What's crazy is that they've raised their prices AND they now charge a fee if you used your card. The sad part is, this isn't the first time that they've done something like this. The beans have been flavorless as of late, and the rice was super hard and overcooked the last time that I ordered them. The chips always seem to be stale and they only give you like 5 of them now. They've become extremely skimpy with the salsa, and they just don't taste the same as they used to. I've basically only resorted to getting crispy tacos here, but now they're starting to f*ck that up too. I used to see the same young ladies working here for years. I know that people move on and the staff changes, but there are new people in there every time that I come in now. EVERY time. They don't really care about good service anymore either. Honestly, there are so many damn taquerias in the neighborhood. I'm just sad because this was my go-to. But after tonight, that's just gonna have to change. I don't think I'll be coming back here for a while.

Wow. We came here six (6) years ago and just came back again for the first time since then - what an extremely drastic change. Horrible, horrible "service" - don't think we can even call this "service." First of all, when you walk in, you cannot hear anything because they are BLASTING music - I thought we just walked into Marquee Club in Las Vegas (I wish, lol). Secondly, the first thing the lady says (did not give eye contact or say "hello") is "cash only." Okay, we know that because it is taped to your front door, so we came prepared. Third, after paying for the order with cash, my husband asked for $1 bills for one $5 bill, and immediately, with the most attitude ever, she replied, "NO." Okay, fine - "how much worse can this experience get?" we thought to ourselves. Well, it gets worse. Fourth, we asked if it will take "15-20 minutes," and her short answer was, "10." We asked for salsa, and she POINTS to our order in the bag. She not only looks super mean, she IS mean. Not coming back to La Mordida ever again.

I'm already excited for an opportunity to come back soon! I was told the tacos are a must, so of course I ordered a Chicken Tinga Tostada and Vampiro with steak. I also ordered a Watermelon Aguas Frescas. For the table we did an order of Guacamole with Pork Belly (first time ever trying this!) and Birria Grilled Cheese Bites. Something cool about ordering tacos here is upon ordering two, you can grab complimentary sides that include cactus, radishes, grilled onion, and beans. There's also the cutest bottles of hot sauce on the table for your meal. The service was quick and friendly, ambiance was fun and vibrant. Would be fun to come back for a marg at the bar. Seems like a vibe for that post-work moment. I noticed a special kiddo menu and breakfast menu. Also, they have a pretty cool Birria menu filled with fun items like Birria fries, flautas, pizza, ramen, and more! The grilled cheese bites were a great app to get an intro to what a full plate could look like. Super fresh and flavorful food, parking adjacent in small lot, and left with overall awesome feels.

They supply 4 different salsas in large bottle so I can drench my food in delicious salsa. Love it.

The zucchini was cooked perfectly and not overcooked or soggy at all, which made the whole burrito taste fresh and flavorful. We also got the appetizer with the chips, zucchini, arugula, and cheese and that ended up being one of my favorite dishes. Everything paired together really well and had a lot of flavor without feeling too heavy. I also tried the mango margarita with tajín on the rim and really liked it because it wasn't overly sweet. Super refreshing and balanced. The Dude ordered the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and really enjoyed those as well. Customer service was also really good. They checked on us periodically throughout the meal and everyone was friendly and attentive without hovering. Overall the restaurant felt clean, relaxed, and comfortable. Definitely a spot we would come back to again. Especially a lot of vegetarian options ! Vegetarian approved!!!

Located in the small shopping area off Contra Costa, right across from Pizza My Way, you will find…read moreEl Aguila Mexican Cuisine. First off, the place is pretty big. There's a ton of seating inside, and everything is very spacious. Though, I do have to say it always feels incredibly empty for some reason and there's never anybody actually inside outside of a few tables, but they do have tons of takeout so perhaps that's the tradeoff. However, don't let the lack of eating patrons inside the place put you off. This taqueria offers a good variety of different options as any taqueria would offer, and many of the options have pictures and stuff with it. The service here is, kind of hit or miss. The people in the front usually aren't overly friendly, and will sometimes feel like they're just there until the clock turns work over. Sometimes they're bordering on rude as they just kind of give you an indifferent stare as you're ordering, or will just feel as if they're half listening and not even looking up. The service was a bit better when I dined in, so perhaps maybe it's just the takeout, although it's usually the same person for both. Price wise, it's certainly not going to be cheap. If you want the best bang for your buck around here, El Aguila probably won't be it as there's a plethora of taquerias in this area. Food quality wise, it's pretty good overall. There are some tasty dishes here that will certainly warrant the little bit of extra cost here compared to other places. Things that I have tried here are the burritos and the torta. The burritos here are yummy as they they will have ingredients inside the burrito that is slightly different than your cookie cutter burrito at any other place. It really does help adds layers of flavor to it that other places do not offer. However, the best part of it is indeed the fact they grill the outside of the burrito to get that nice flakiness that wrap, and makes it a oh so rewarding experience. Meat portions was okay, but wish it had more especially for the cost. The torta I got was pretty good, as the ingredients inside were pretty typical so nothing really stood out. The break was toasted well, but I do wish it was a bit softer as it may have been to toasted. Should be toasted outside and soft inside, but this one just felt toasted all over. The meat portion also suffers from the same issue as the burrito as that it's not as generous as it could be. However, the flavors and taste were fine. It's certainly a nice place for those who want a bit of a different style of their Mexican cuisine. They have some flavors here that will be atypical of most of the cookie cutter taquerias around. While they are a bit expensive comparatively, the portions are actually decent (minus the meats). You can certainly be filled with just a single burrito. Worth a visit.

It honestly goes with the theme of this place! We decided to order a quesabirria tacos and two regular tacos one alpastor (marinated pork) and one carnitas. Erick asked if I wanted hot sauce or mild I said "do you mind giving me one of each?" Which he replied with oh yes! Most places will not bother going the extra mile for a customer but Erick is on point! Total for our food was $23.00 something tip included. I loved the fact that Erick said next step on the tablet is tip you don't have to put anything if you don't want to just click no. I'm super happy that he gives his customers that are not eating in a chance to say yes to tipping or no! I decided to tip and yes I'm happy to do it. Now let's talk about the food!!! I ordered a pork tamale, a crunchy ground beef taco and some arroz. My friend ordered a chile relleno and a crunchy ground beef taco. The food came with complimentary tortilla chips and a salsa dip with frijoles. The dip and Chios were fresh and the salsa with blended with frijoles was enjoyable. The crunchy tacos were fried nicely and had a good amount of filling. I thinking about trying carnitas as the filling but there a bit of a charge. The tamale was pretty good. The masa was not too dry or too wet. The meat to masa ratio was about right. My friend liked his chile relleno. The rice was more well done than I usually prefer and needed a little more seasoning.
