This restaurant has been around longer than I have lived in the area and has been one of the few I return to. I am disappointed in the burritos as they contain a lot of fillers and not traditional Mexican burritos that contain meat and maybe sauce or tomatoes and guacamole. It is a plate-full and has a good taste, but I just cannot get past the rice and beans in the burrito. I expect that from "those fast-food, go down the line" burrito places that Americans go for (and I cannot figure out why). I will say the tacos here are large and they do not advertise as "street" tacos. The meats are good, fresh salsa and cut jalapeños in a small self-serve bar. Horchata is well mixed. I used to love this place but it's appeared to have become all politics and no service. They have a "No mask, no service" sign so as ridiculous as I believe that policy is at this stage in the game, I respect their wishes as a private business and use the drive through. They have a sign stating all beef products temporarily cost more. Ok. I order 4 carne asada tacos with everything and 4 extra salsas with 2 cars in front of me. We repeat the order back to each other. The first car drives away in 1 minute with their food. The second car in under two minutes. I pay and wait 13 minutes at the window. During this time two people have come to the inside counter, placed orders and left with their food along with a few Uber-like carry out orders. The guy that took my order is standing around having a jolly time talking to someone but never comes back to the window. Finally he disappears and a gal brings me my bag of food. I verified with her, "The extra salsa is in here?" To which she answered yes so I drove off. I am already extremely put off by the guy's "black lives matter" mask but whatever. I drive back to work and find no salsa, skimpy toppings, twice-killed (overcooked) meat and not much of it. And lastly, it's luke warm. I've been eating here for years and it's always been good flavor, quality and quantity albeit stingy with their salsa. I pay more than most taco places because I get more. This visit was a huge disappointment and frankly pissed me off enough to write a review. If you're going to charge more for beef, fine but don't cut out the quantity and quality. If you're going to be in the service business you need to communicate. Clearly someone dropped the ball to make me wait, screwed up the order, then handed it off to someone else to take the heat instead of just checking with me to say it's gonna take a bit longer. Lastly, pick your industry! You're either a food service business or in politics. I don't give a damn what you or your staff believe, but your politics are misplaced in this arena and your focus is clearly not on the food. I give two stars only because of past experiences. This particular visit was one star at best. Pick your product and then proudly market it. Politics taste horrible. It tacos are delicious. I suggest the latter. My coworker treated me to lunch here. My low expectations were easily surpassed. I ordered a tongue "super" burrito. The adjective adds sour cream, Guac, and cheese for a dollar. A real no-brainer. The tongue was tender and plentiful throughout the burrito, and I had a third of my meal left over for dinner. I also tried one of my dining partner's shrimp tacos, which was hefty and loaded with fajita veggies and several shrimp per taco. You get a lot of food for the price, and the menu is extensive. Customer service SUCKS!! So rude! As I was getting my sauces and peppers at the bar, i was asked with a dirty look on 2 different people's faces "do you need something?" Then, I see the cooks prepping our food with NO gloves wiping their hands on their dirty aprons. Wtf! Dirty! The cooks kept asking the servers in spanish why I kept standing there. Five stars because I have been coming here for 20 years and the food has never been bad, not one time. Consistently good. There were a couple years where the staff was a bit snarky, but those days are long gone, and the staff is chill and friendly. Just order your food at the counter and then eat that delicious food when they bring it to the table where you choose to sit. Chips & salsa are extra, but not much. They aren't the best chips in the world, but I always get them because again, they are consistently so damn good. I love the carne asada wet burrito with verde sauce, as you can see. Salsa bar: they have had the same salsas here every time and they are always fresh and delicious. This is a solid Mexican joint. Free salsas & peppers, a large, somewhat disorganized menu, bright colors everywhere, and a somewhat run-down dining area...with tasty food. In fairness, I've only tried the wet chicken burrito & cheese enchiladas, but both tasted pretty good. The chicken wasn't dry, but it certainly wasn't the moistest either. The portion sizes were very large as well, which is never a bad thing. The staff was also really friendly. The food doesn't deserve 5 stars, and I'm always bummed when the chips & salsa aren't complimentary. That being said, it was good & I would definitely return. Modestly priced little dive with good food made fresh to order. Staff was friendly and the portions were generous. Anytime I go to a New Mexican restaurant. My go to dish to judge their food is arroz con camarones. Theirs by far has beaten out any other I have tasted. There is a perfect amount of cheese sauce and veggies (which are also cooked to perfection.) I live in the area and always drive past this place so decided to give it a shot. I ordered a chicken enchilada meal with an extra side of rice & 2 steak tacos. The person behind the counter seemed in a bad mood so when I my food came out; I drove home and realized that my extra side of rice was not included. It was a little annoying but people make mistakes and I blamed it half on me for not checking my bag before I left. Mexican rice is my favorite part about eating Mexican food and a lot of the rice I got was undercooked or overcooked, not sure but it was hard. Not like how rice should be. So that was disappointing, I guess it wasn't the most horrible thing they forgot the extra rice. The enchiladas were okay.. they were big in size. Only giving one star because I had to been a south Tacoma resident my whole life and decided I would finally stop in there and try something different I ordered my son a chicken quesadilla and myself a wet burrito. When I received my dinner my sons quesadilla was just cheese not what I had ordered so I took it back to the front to ask the person that took my order and his response was that I should learn how to order correctly when I did order quickly he must've just misunderstood. I was far from rude and he was a total asshole. When I asked for a refund after the attitude and a box for my burrito he took the money and gave it to me in a very aggressive way and told me again to learn how to order . I asked him if he was the manager he said no I asked him his name and he walked away. I can't in good faith give them a 1 because they really do have incredible food. However, the restaurant could be a LOT cleaner (including wiping down tables) as well as the restrooms. I may have caught them during a rush... Deciding to try the drive through again, I found the same frustrations which plagued my first visit. The drive through speaker is incredibly difficult to hear and appears broken, probably on both ends, more than likely the reason my order was again not correct. After waiting an eternity for only 2 cars, I finally got my food (which WAS delicious), but was tainted with such a poor experience. I won't be returning here again. read more

While it feels like a fast food restaurant on the inside, the food quality begs to differ. I've only been twice, at this point, but I have been very happy with my experience on both occasions. The prices are fair, the portions are gigantic, and their guacamole is good. Of the things I've tried, as me and my friends (my friends y yo) often just get a bunch of stuff and share everything, I prefer their burritos. Everything inside tastes fresh and is cooked properly, and they don't skimp on anything, be it meat, cheese, guac, whatever.
