I love tacos huicho! There's never been a time where they fail me. The food is always fresh, hot and most importantly delicious. The staff there are always really friendly and make sure it's clean in there. They are usually pretty busy, but the food comes out with reasonable time. This time we ordered to go, and the quality was just as good as in restaurant, they pack some cucumbers, and salsas, which is really helpful. $1.25 TACO TUESDAY. $1.75 every other day. They give you a side of LIMES, CUCUMBER, & RED/GREEN SAUCE. The red sauce does pack some heat. The PASTOR & ASADA meat were both tasty. You can see the pastor rotating on the spit behind the counter. The tacos are a bit on the smaller side so order 1 or 2 more than you usually would The HUICHO ALAMBRE is a combination of grilled meats (pastor, asada, & ham) with bell pepper, onions, pineapples, & cheese. They were light on the cheese in my opinion. I wasn't even sure it had any until you mix it more. They give you a side of tortillas to build your own taco. They do DOUBLE stack their tortilla. On my first day in Phoniex, I heard that tacos are delicious here, so I did a little digging and found that Tacos Huicho was one of the best hole-in-the-wall taco shops in Phoniex. And the people weren't wrong!! For a hefty meat-filled taco for 2.25$ each, these tacos hit the spot! I got a few different selections of tacos and each kind of meat did not disappoint. It was tender and flavorful. They also provide green and red salsas, and I use a little of each on every taco, and it took the taco to the next level. I also got a side of banana horchata (since I've never seen it back home), and it was creamy, fruity, with just the right amount of sweetness. Hands down the best tacos I have ever had! I lived in LA for 8 years which is known for they're tacos and none of those compare to these ones! I got the carne asada and al pastor tacos. Very authentic. I also get really weird about meat being too fatty but this meat was absolutely perfect. Very nice staff and just an overall amazing experience. Don't think I'll go anywhere else for tacos in Arizona. Thanks so much guys! Keep up the amazing work :) read more

This place was delicious!! We like trying every birria taco we can and these were definitely worthy of a review. They had beautiful day of the dead decor as well as a day of the dead altar with their loved ones on it, which made you really feel the authenticity of the place. I also very much appreciated the service we were given the lady at the front was super sweet and she even offered to let us try the meat before we ordered it because we were curious of how it tasted. They do not allow outside drinks so we ate outside and that worked out because it was really nice out finally. We paid $32 for two meals of 3 quesabirria tacos each. Just out at 8pm like hungry like crazy so I went to the one on oak. I was in line literally for like 10 min. The person was counting money so I said ok shift change. But the reason im disappointed is no hey ill be with you have a seat nothing. So I decided to seat down and when the girl was done with her register she decided to ignore me and play with someone hair. I walked out like forget this place. I usually get good food from there. Im just disappointed in the customer service they lack. read more

The meat was nice and crispy, but the portions were small. The tacos were made a little sloppy, I wasn't really crazy about them. The service was good, the guy at the front took my order quickly and was nice. The ambiance is so so, it's clean but nothing really fancy. This would be my 4th trip and probably my last. Got the 3 tacos with rice and beans combo. Rice was crusty and old. Beans were bomb, the radish was old and wilted so was the cucumber they served. The carne asada was to chewy the chorizo was good and the al pastor was bomb. Wife got chicken she said was to dry she hated the asada and lived the al pastor. Didn't take pics finished what we thought was good and left quickly. Will not be back. $40 for two combos and a sope which was just thrown together. We shared a Jamaica. King taco is where it's at for sopes!! read more

Some of the best tacos I've found so far in the valley. The meats have that nice little bit of char that really sets off the flavors and the salsas are fresh with a kick! This place has amazing taco Tuesday deals! $1 for -Longaniza -Pollo/Chicken -Cabeza -Al Pastor Very authentic tacos, and at an unbeatable price compared to other places that have much more lackluster tacos. I have been here 3 times so far and only one time has been a slight disappointment with the quality, but I blame that on COVID-19. Regardless of that, this continues to be my new usual Taco Tuesday joint and I will continue to return. I will say that the carne asada fries are not very good. They put beans in them for some reason? And the whole thing is just not put together well. I'm very picky with my carne asada fries and so far the only good ones I've had in the valley are at Los Favoritos. Stick to the tacos here. It's what's they do best! I will re-evaluate my review once I see the consistency after the pandemic. read more

Great Neighborhood Spot I was craving street tacos and decided to try Tacos Huicho based on all the positive Yelp reviews. I have to admit this hidden gem has some of the tastiest tacos I've had in a long time, and the price is right at $1.50 on Taco Tuesday. The steak, chicken, and pastor tacos were all delicious. The meat was moist and flavorful, and the salsa added just the right amount of kick. The atmosphere was comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the tacos were delicious. It's one of those unique places that make you feel at home. The location is a little unassuming, but once you get over that, you'll be enjoying authentic Mexican in no time. These were definitely the best tacos I've had in Phoenix far! I usually order the tacos al pastor and asada with an agua fresca. The tortillas are on the smaller side, so I'd get one extra taco than the amount you were originally thinking of getting. Regardless of their size, they are delicious and packed with flavor! The asada has a slightly smoky flavor and actually tastes like it was grilled. Top the pastor with piña, add the salsa verde and cucumber slices to both, sip down a piña agua fresca for a sweet and refreshing palate cleanser, and you've got an amazing next meal! read more

After trying many places, I am glad to report that I have found one. Let's start with the food. Trust me! You can't go wrong with anything that you pick here. We ordered steak, pork and chicken. Steak was definitely the winner. Most of the taco places treat chicken as a second class citizen. Not here! The chicken was so good!! The meat tasted well seasoned and not dry . The pastor tacos were ok but the chorizo tacos reminded me a lot of El Rancherito in Van Nuys, CA. I enjoyed how crispy the meat was. Interior gave me that Van Nuys feel too, it felt like home. Love it all. read more

We ordered an appetizer and then entrees from the lunch menu. The aguachile appetizer is SO good. It's bright, fresh, and has a lot of flavor in the green sauce. It reminds me of a ceviche type dish due to its raw butterflied shrimp that is marinated in the house made chile serrano & cilantro citrus sauce. It was awesome. We were also given free chips & house made bean dip. I ordered the mixed two item plate with a chile rellano and taco corazon (grilled taco dipped in a red chile sauce, stuffed with shredded beef & melted cheese. Topped with grilled onions). The black beans and rice is also tasty. I tried a bite of the other dishes, and I also really liked the brightly colored spinach & cheese enchiladas with pink sauce ( signature beet sauce). I look forward to trying other items from the menu, I was eyeing the steak Mexicano or red snapper. Those dishes sound good for dinner.

We shared their Flamingo (crispy rolled flour tacos stuffed with cheese blend and roasted anaheim pepper, topped with lettuce, sour cream, avocado salsa, pico de gallo and cotija cheese) - VERY GOOD! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! We both had the Modelo Especial with lunch as well, as you gotta do it right! Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
