Very authentic Mexican food. The beans have lard and the salsas hot. They actually have a lot of choices on the menu. I ordered their shrimp and fish tostada which had lots of fish and shrimp, fresh and simple. $5.75 Good chips and salsa. Beers are $3.50 for a regular and $6.00 for a large one. Cheap, fast and friendly. I want to try a burrito next time but they are HUGE so I better come hungry. read more

OMG the chicken taco made love to my tastebuds! I aint afraid to admit it either. After one bite I am hooked =D ok so yeah driving around and randomly see this joint tucked back behind a taco bell of all places and I was in the mood for a taco or three so yeah here I went... I stroll in and order a chorizo, pastor, and carne asada taco. $1.25 ea... however, much to my great enjoyment and total shock, they misunderstood and gave me a chorizo, pastor, and pollo taco. I said dont worry about it and rolled with it. I AM SOOOOOOO HAPPY that I did. PRO TIP: This hole in the wall has two spaces worth of a 4 space strip mall behind taco bell, one side to dine/grub and the other side to order/cook. Well I didnt expect or anticipate that the pastor would be so bland, the chorizo was tasty, but the star of the show was the chickie chickie baby. The pastor wasnt dry, but it wasnt that juciy either. It was honestly just another random taco that you can find anywhere nothing special. The chorizo had some great flavor, but it was a lil bit light on the meat in the taco. Consequently it was good, better than average for sure, but it was not outstanding. Lastly there was the Pollo Chickie Chickie baby taco. My tongue, tastebuds, and mouth were in heaven after having a mouthgasm... This hand pulled chicken soft taco smothered in cheese and shredded cabbage was intense. The chicken was marinated and had red and green bell peppers as well as grilled onions mixed into the shred. It was all kept in a super juicy flavorful something and my mouth was unbelievably happy. I WILL BE BACK FOR MORE CHICKEN TACOS OMG YES!!! I think my mouth felt like Sally from the diner scene in the movie "When Harry met Sally". WOW... The sauces were freshly made as well and while not hot, they were packed with flavor on a couple of them. I am contemplating returning there again for lunch today!!! Ohhh Yeah baby... The waitress was sporting a Bimbo shirt, the one with the bear playing soccer, not the ditzy girl version. There was Tapatio on the table, banda going on and soccer emblems blazed all over the windows. The salsa is good, the chips are decent and although my tacos got a little soggy, the 1st one was pretty good. My sweets likes going here which is why we'll probably be back, but I think I'll opt for a dish instead of tacos. Another kudos to them is the plates are fiery hot! AOK Menudo! Every Sunday, as a kid, my dad would load up the VW bug with a pot before going to Mass. After, we would stop by a bakery and they would fill up our pot with menudo. Yup, Sunday treats! This place is not the cleanest. They do have menudo and apparently some lunch specials. It didn't look like they took credit cards. Good thing I brought casholee. I basically grew up eating here. Coming from a Traditional Mexican household, eating out wasn't quite an option, and if we did it was considered a "treat". However, if my parents weren't in the mood too cook but wanted some Mexi food, Tacos Jalisco was our spot. I can fondly remember eating there when it was just the little strip (probably 20 people max seating area). We used to wait because it was just too good... it is our hidden gem in Orange. Did I mention the prices are amazing? Feed a whole family here and you won't be worried about overspending or not finishing your food. Since it's been expanded, word has got out about this place and I'm so happy their business is booming. And a big shout out to Alma.... she has been our waitress for the past 10 years and she is the sweeeeeetest thing! Since moving to LA, I tend not to eat here anymore, but when I'm in town it's one of those places I just have to go too. Great hole in the wall ssit down mexican establishment. I had a quick workday lunch here today with my usual 3 taco special. The 3 taco special is a steal at under $6 with rice and beans. And they do complimentary chips and salsa. The carnitas is very tender with our the dryness that you will sometimes find and the rice is the perfect level of hardness. Its definitely an authentic taste bud experience. Service is fast. The automosphere is the good kind of hole in the wall. Look for the daily specials as well to properly time your visit (you'll find pollo gratinado and Chile Verde specials depending on what days). The menu is very expansive, much more than I am giving it credit for. Other recommended eats are their wet burritos and tortas. One of my favorite things about this place is the excellent selection of salsas at the salsa bar. The green sauce is definitely recommended, but any of them are good choices and I like that I can have as many as I want without having to ask. This place is a true diamond in the rough, it can be pretty hard to find since it sits back off Tustin Ave. But don't worry, even if you get a little lost, it's worth it the food is that good! One of the best places I've found for authentic Mexican in Orange County. And the prices are really affordable. I first came here with my good buddy and his family, his dad and Cuban and his mom is Mexican and his mom's Dad is very particular when it comes to Mexican food and he loves tacos jalisco, however he gets upset that they use chicken breast haha! Anyways, the service is great and the waiters and waitresses are always really friendly and my favorite, Jose is hilarious and has jokes for days! I didn't understand why my friend was driving us out there for shrimp quesadillas. When I got my order I understood. They're not quesadillas at all, they're empanadas. The most delicious shrimp empanadas I've ever had, specially when you topped them off with their mango/pineapple salsa (one of their many awesome salsas off their salsa bar). I've since returned on my own and taken other people. We've tried many plates which are really good as well like their pollo en salsa chipotle (which is finger licking good!), mole enchiladas, filete Jalisco, comalada & tostada de mariscos mixta. The prices are more than reasonable for portions that are very generous. They have aguas frescas, soft drinks & beer (domestic & imported). The only downside is that it's not closer to home but we find it been worth the drive. read more

The chimichanga combo plate is awesome with the best refried beans! The combination plates are a very nice portion so be prepared to be very full or bring home a baggy. Had several dishes and happy with all. A couple of tacos (pastor and asada). Came plain but lots of tasty meat. Used the clever accessory bar (onions, oregano, chilis and cilantro) at the table. Another person had an enchilada and hard shell potato taco. The green sauce was sublime. So tasty and smooth. Third meal was a carnitas burrito. Very good. Carne asada tacos - Pretty good but nothing special. Meat had decent flavor but was pretty dry. Lengua tacos - Not very good but not bad. Meat was shredded, which was weird, but maybe that's how it's done here. I'm used to thinly sliced tongue. Taste was a bit heavy as well but that's expected with organ meats. Fried Fish tacos - Pretty good. Crispy. Light. Fresh cabbage. Had cheese, which was weird, but ok. No lime given. Mojarra - Very good. Not only fried, but DEEP fried. Very crispy, good flavor, not too salty. Beans and rice were meh. I didn't really bother. Tortillas were warm. Service - Friendly and attentive. Things come out in succession, so just be patient. Cilantro and onions served on the side and you can add as much as the you want, which is fantastic since I love onions and cilantro but my husband doesn't at all. Dining area is clean. Prices are very reasonable. I don't I'll be coming back for their tacos but the mojarra was great and I'm curious to try their wet burritos. 3 stars for now, but will probably do an update at some point. read more

I dont understand what the big hype is about this place because i honestly thought the food i got (tacos and enchilada) was just as average as any other mexican restaurant you could find in Orange/Anaheim hills. i decided to come back and give tacos jaliscos another chance. i ordered their 3 fish taco special with rice and beans for only 5.25! such a good deal! the fish tacos are generously topped with cabbage and there isnt any sauce on it so feel free to use the salsa bar. i just used the salsa that came w/ the chips since it was already at the table.. i would say the food here is pretty average quality but the price is really good. i left satisfied and full! My sister wanted to come here, because she really likes the pasole, so we ended up getting a burrito, some enchiladas and the pasole. BEWARE: if you get the pasole togo, make sure you hold it carefully, because they put it in a cheap Styrofoam soda cup, and the lid does not snap on tight. I walked up to the car, put it near my feet, grabbed the burritos to put down as well and the next thing I knew, there was spilled pasole. I am surprised they don't do anything to secure it. Luckily the owner was kind enough to fix it for me. I got the wet burrito with red sauce, and it was okay. I doused this one in the red and green salsas at the bar, and it became really flavorful. The rice and beans that come with it are super super bland. I dumped some salsa on the rice, because it was very dry. The pasole wasn't as good as my sister remembered, and when I had it, I wasn't too big of a fan either. There was hardly any meat, but the meat that WAS there was really good. Woooow. This place is amazing. I got the 3 taco combo for $3.25 which comes with rice and beans. I got carnitas, carne asada and chicken. The carnitas and chicken were the best tacos I've (dare i say) ever had. Soooo juicy and the chicken was incredibly flavorful. I usually never eat chicken because I just don't like it but jesssssus the chicken taco was amazing. Carne asada was dry but it was so flavorful that I couldn't even complain. I also got the horchata which was THE BEST HORCHATA...not too strong of a cinnamon flavor which ruins it for me most of the time but this horchata was the perfect amount of cinnamon. The beans were sooo yummy and the rice was perfectly seasoned. If there's one reason why I love this place so much it's because EVERYTHING has the perfect amount of flavor...not to overwhelming and definitely not bland. The quality of the food you get is SOOOO good for the price that you pay. If I lived closer I would come here everyday for lunch...I'm obsessed. Can't wait to come back. read more

Auténtico! I was in the drive-through line at Taco Bell when I discovered Tacos Jalisco. It's a little hidden behind the TB, affordable and of course much better. I luv a fried shredded beef taco with crisp lettuce and melted cheddar cheese. Their salsas are also authentic and tasty. Refried beans and beer complete my meal. Very disappointed! Asada in my tacos were in BIG chunks (not even the main reason I'm writing this review), not cut in decent size. The quality of the food is not the same like it was when we had Family Lunch/Dinner back in the days. The pollo was... lets just say it smelled really bad. We got tacos de pollo and a quesadilla de pollo... only took a moment to notice the smell. We also got a burrito de al pastor... yeah sick ! I waisted my money on food that was not worth it, all left behind. On top of it all it is HOT INSIDE... NO AC.. did not help with the major headache my mom got when she noticed her burrito smelled bad. MY MOM IS A MEXICAN COOK.... SHE KNOWS... She blames me lol for taking her out to eat.... I called to speak to management for my concern about something else and express how it got my mom sick but the manager who answered was not friendly when i mentioned about my first concern on my card. And even told me he does not have time for this. He was not friendly what so ever so I decided to let people know... DO not order tacos de pollo, tacos de asada, or al pastor. I can't say about anything else because we did not try the rest of the food. But always glance at the kitchen... you'll notice if the food is being well cooked or not. I came here on a Taco Tuesday and had a sub-par experience. I do not recommend going in on a Tuesday unless you are a broke college student! Otherwise, their food is amazing. I have been here several times since the Tuesday fiasco and every time it had been on point. The salsas and hot sauces are some of the best in OC. They are open for takeout during these crazy times! Like usual, they cook most of their food to order. Everything stays nice and warm/hot until I get home which is great. I live about 20 minutes away. This is one of my favorite Mexican places so I don't mind the drive. I love their huevos divorciados, tacos, birria (I think they call it barbacoa de chivo here) and their pozole. Everything else I've had here is good, too. It's as close as I've been able to get to my Mom's homemade food and my Mom is a FANTASTIC cook. The servers are very nice. This is a laid back restaurant, so they will leave you alone for most of the time. I like this because I don't like being interrupted throughout my meal. Went to grad school at Chapman and if I had some down time, or needed to eat, whatever, I'd relax in their gigantic oversized booths and eat pollo gratinado - sauce so good I have driven from my place in LA just to order the sauce to go. I walked in expecting a little taco shop, but this place was actually a hybrid. They had taco shop prices with a casual sit down atmosphere. Food looked great all around. Very glad that they had a pretty extensive seafood menu as well. I had the tostada mixta, which was pretty great minus the fake crab that was used. ATTENTION: DO NOT EAT HERE! Grew up eating here. USED TO BE great. Changed owners. NOW IT IS GARBAGE!!! Wait staff is terrible. Food is trash. Prices went up. Walked in, said hello to wait staff that barely acknowledged me, then grabbed a table. Waited 10 minutes for menus. I got up and got them for myself and my 2 guests. They finally came over to take the drink order. Took 10 more minutes to get our drinks. Only 4 other occupied tables in the place at the time. WTF WERE THEY DOING!? I'll tell you what, they were chatting and eating at the front table next to the main entrance. "Okay" I said to myself, "at least I know the food is good." Surprise, surprise, salsa is now super watered down, and the "filete Jalisco", one of their signature dishes I have been ordering for years, looked like ground beef/dog food. Taste was about the same. I politely asked what happened, it doesn't look like steak, waitress gives me a blank stare and says "that's steak." Rude as all hell. This review is angry, but when I'm dining, I am still polite as can be even when they are screwing everything up. I used to be a waiter and so I give a lot of slack. But this was unforgivable. Also, my GFs fish tacos were breaded to the point of looking like corndogs, and the sauce wasn't even close to the old stuff. This looked and tasted like watered down mayo/mustard combination. I took the rest of the meal home to our dogs. OH AND THEY HAVE UPPED THEIR PRICES UNDER THE NEW OWNERS. High priced dog food is what you get here now. HIGH PRICED DOG FOOD! It started out a bit bad since the booth I went to was wet, I asked for a towel so I could clean it up and was asked to wait, about 5 min later the waitress came and wiped down the table leaving it wet and also leaving the water on the seat still. I explained that the seat was wet and it seemed like I bothered them by mentioning it. After sitting down a few minutes later, my GF and I were approached and asked if we were ready to order. I explained to the server that we didn't even get any menus yet, she grabs a couple and stands there waiting to take the order. 5 Stars the food minus 1 point for the horrible service from the waitresses. I have been here 2x both times the waitresses have been slow on service there is no smile or sort of enjoyment of being there maybe hire people with outgoing attitudes. Enough about them because the restaurant and the food are something to brag about. I have had their shrimp cocktails, tacos de tripas, camarones al mojo de ajo and all of the dishes were delicious. My mom had the camarones a la diabla the chile isn't how you would normally expect but it made it even more delicious. Definitely get those next time and I'll post a pic. Came here. This was my first visit here. I gotta say i was not impressed. I was craving potato tacos. They were ok but plain. Little sad i had high hopes.
