Another yelp find! We went off the highway to get to this place. It was worth the trip. It not much to look at on the outside, but the beauty of this place is the food. The food was authentic and delicious. The refried beens were not overly cooked and still had a bite to them. I ordered the fiery pork tacos and they were delicious. My partner ordered the beef burrito. He needed two hands to eat it. It was huge and he enjoyed it. Not sure when I will be in the area again, but would definitely come back. The pricing was just right, too. read more

Tacos here are really good with the exception of the carnitas. The barbacoa was on point. The tacos are small so order a bunch. The prices are very fair even considering the small size of the tacos. read more

One of the top 5 restaurants in Southeast Texas, for sure - great, authentic Mexican street-style tacos, filling breakfast burritos, really fun ambiance with local art everywhere. Get the barbacoa tacos on corn all the way (onion, cilantro, queso fresco and avocado) and douse it in the orange sauce - it is the lord's taco, and I could eat it every day for the rest of my life. Should be consumed with a Topo Chico whilst watching whatever movie is playing - if it's Die Hard or Selena, congratulations. You've won the Tacos La Bamba lottery. Pop out from 5-9 on the first Thursday of every month for $1 tacos, DJs and a local low-rider club. It's bicycle-friendly (there's an art bike rack out front) and mega, mega cheap - even when my boyfriend and I have an 'appetizer,' dinner for two and beverages, we never pay more than $25. Me Gusta Tacos La Bamba! I have heard so many good things about this spot which is half video store, half Mexican food restaurant. This being my first time to eat here, I decided to try the carnitas, barbacoa, and the pollo tacos. I loved the barbacoa, the pollo was good and not a fan of the carnitas, maybe a fluke, maybe it just was bad. Did I mention I loved the barbacoa? The tacos were simple with cilantro and onions on a corn tortilla....perfect. There's also a bunch of other stuff on the menu from tortas to shrimp cocktail. I will definitely be hittin' this place up again, maybe for breakfast tomorrow. I hear there's another location on College Street too. Check it out, not much like this is little ol' Beaumont. If you walk into Tacos La Bamba and think you accidentally ended up in a VHS rental store that happens to sell soccer cleats and jerseys, you would be correct. If you turn around and leave, you'll be sorry that you let confusion get the best of you. This quirky little place sells delicious authentic Mexican tortas, tacos, burritos in addition to the previously mentioned soccer cleats, jerseys and VHS rentals. Everything I've ever eaten at TLB is delicious, however, I am always left with a major gut bomb due to overeating. Don't say you weren't warned. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped at this place on our road trip from Atlanta to LA and we were not disappointed. I got the chicken plate and my boyfriend got a burrito. It hit the spot during our long journey. (I mean, I'd hope Texas has great Mexican food). If I am ever passing through again, I'd definitely stop here again. read more

Had lunch here today. Wife had the flautas and an asada taco. I had the barbacoa burrito. The food was delicious and fresh. The burrito was huge, but the barbacoa was kind of runny, causing the burrito to completely fall apart half way through it, but it was very tasty. The flautas were awesome, and so was the asada taco, except the taco was the smallest taco I have ever seen. Also, HORCHATA! It's extremely hard to find a place around here that has horchata, and they do. All in all, I'll definitely eat here again, probably get the asada burrito next time. read more

This is a quaint little restaurant. We had 4 different kinds of tacos - pork, spicy pork, Barbadoas, and chicken. They were served with three different sauces to choose from. The tacos also came topped with onions and cilantro if you like. Yes, please! All were very tasty! read more

Visiting family in the area and we had taken the family out to the Texas Energy Museum (better than I expected) and used trusty Yelp for a near by place for lunch! Very pleased with the choice to visit Tacos La Bamba. Beautifully authentic. All my kids got fajita or chicken tacos and my hubby went for a burrito that was huge and tasty. I had the best though! I ordered Sopes: kinda like a tostada and a gordita made out and made a scrumptious love child they called Sope! Mmmm I got to choose 3 different meats: chicken, Barbacoa, and Pastor. Pastor (spicy pork) was my favorite!!! Still thinking about it a week later. The Sopes had super fresh toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, queso fresco! My eternal search for the Holy Grail of Mexican food has brought me to La Bamba. At first site, the half movie rental store and half restaurant may have you scratching your head and you may want to turn away, but I recommend you continue in. Their menu is beautifully simple yet covers nearly everything. From Yelp, I ordered a carnitas burrito and a steak taco. After sitting down, my order was prepared quickly. The taco was easiest to inspect. The steak looked moist and the vegetables looked fresh. You are given a choice of red or green salsa on the side. I opted for green, but you can have both if you want. After pouring on some salsa, I took my first bite and was delighted. The taco tasted like it came from an amazing street vendor. After my burrito, I ordered another spicy port taco. The La Bamba's burritos are big and could easily make two meals. After taking my first bite, you could see the same great meat and vegetables as in the taco, but upon my second bite, I got a big mouthful of re-fried beans that were a little on the dry side. Just like your father might say, " I am not mad just disappointed." Luckily, I found solace in some taco sauce. For a drink, I ordered what tasted like a great cinnamon dessert, Horcata. La Bamba also has some other authentic Mexican drinks, but I can't remember their names. While I only found La Bamba to be mediocre, I know I'll be back for their tortas. Hasta luego. read more

My family and I arrived here after a wedding that had no reception or party on a whim we were served quickly. The seating is cafeteria style. There is a small Cooler that has salsa, shredded onion, and cilantro to top your food. They also serve beers. The verde sauce is exceptionally flavorful. Crisp citrus and plenty of tomatillo identity. Subtle but welcome "burn" carrying a pleasant layer of garlic. Chicken was shredded very fine, drenched in a red sauce of piquant character which supported the pollo and enhanced the flavor. Nice combination of tastes. Beans and rice. What can you say? Well, both were provided identity. Rice is red, cumin up front. Moist and toothsome. The frijoles are rather smooth but with a tight viscosity. As the little girl said..."just right." Undercurrent of umami, these beans were not bashful. I added one tamale on the side. What a splendid accompaniment. Rich masa and as smooth as silk. Carnitas also in a similar piquant sauce. The tamale is fall-on-the-floor, astonishingly good. So very pleased I added it to my plate. I like Carlito's. This is super-duper Tex-Mex. btw, it has been MORE than ten years since our last visit. This joint has really improved.
