From the moment we walked in, our waitress seemed visibly bothered by us. We were simply having a conversation when she approached, yet her attitude was cold and irritated from the start. We asked about the sopas and requested no onions. She rudely snapped that they don't come with onions. I opened the menu where onions were clearly listed and politely asked if she was sure. She rolled her eyes and raised her voice, repeating that they don't come with onions. Trying to move on, I asked for a cup of ice. Instead of basic courtesy she rudely asked, "Is there anything else you're going to ask for before I walk away?" At that point, it was clear she was unhappy to be doing her job. After realizing we weren't pleased, she completely avoided our table and never checked on us again. I definitely waited for about 15 minutes before actually getting my food. I had the green salsa with my quesadilla which was super spicy! I loved it! It's been awhile since I had tacos la banqueta and I was missing it too. I was tempted to order a lot but then I stopped myself and now I'm regretting it. I love the flavor of their pastor. Its my top choice when I come here. This time I got the tripa crispy and lengua. I love their green sauce but my friend likes the red one so to each their own. I wish I got the fried quesadilla with pastor because it was so good. It was a pretty good price range for our party of two, less than $30. Service is great! The food came out fairly quickly when we ordered. The ambiance is very casual. My friend described it as "hole in the wall" so don't expect fancy. Look out folks, the Dallas/Fort Worth area has a very, VERY legit Mexican establishment. Typically you can't find this kind of quality in Houston (where I'm from) unless it comes from a food truck. Don't ask me why that is--ironically, life always tells a funny story. But let's dive into what makes this place so awesome (and the little things I can knit pick at). The tacos are FILLED. I mean, the shells are small--don't get me wrong, but they get filled (with plenty of cilantro and onions, too). Now typically I don't mess with tripe, but these guys make it amazing. If I could go back, I would just order 4 tripe tacos rather than play the field. Suardero is a very tender (cut of beef or pork that's in-between the belly and the leg) protein. It's worth trying and is what my friend claims is his favorite meat. Another important element is the sauces/salsa. Very tasty salsa Verde and Roja. Great kick to them, too. Quesadillas can also be fried like a super large empanada; it's not bad, but I'd definitely just invest in more tacos. Gorditas are also traditionally made. The bread is cut and stuffed with cabbage, queso Blanco, and your choice of meat. Suardero seems to be the popular option. Again, I'm a taco kind of guy... but honestly, I think all the food is quite good. Fruit Flavored Aguas frescas don't seem to be made with real fruit. Horchata and Hicama seem fine. The Pineapple one is delicious, but clearly made with artificial elements, and to be honest, that fact won't stop me or my friends from ordering it. Definitely not a big fan of waiting in a huge line to pay for our meal. The line seems to comprise of to-go orders amongst other tables... it seems extremely inefficient and creates traffic that can be otherwise avoided if servers just rang up the ticket and handed you the bill. Ambience wise, it compares to your run of the mill, typical taquerias. Brown tiles... orange interior paint... that kind if vibe. Not a big fan of all these Styrofoam plates either (especially for brick and morter), but it does seem like it makes their jobs easier. Overall, an easy 4-stars. Goodness gracious the tortas are huge! I had the Torta Bombocha, it has steak, sausage,chorizo cheese and ham with tomatoes and avocado! THE BEST! The horchata was soooo good!! . When you come in, you pick a table and the waitress will take your order. Food arrive fast. If you don't speak Spanish, no worries at all, I was able to order in English. The meat options are suadero (thinly sliced grilled beef), pastor (pork and pineapple), chorizo (pork sausage), carnitas (pork), bistec (beef steak), cabeza (cow head), pollo (chicken), tripa (tripe), and lengua (tongue). All the good stuff! Personally, I'm a pastor taco kind of person -- especially when there's pineapple involved. I get a couple pastor tacos on corn tortillas with beans on the side. Yum. I've always driven pass this place and it's always PACKED. Finally was able to try it out the other night, was very pleased, and excited to have delicious tacos down the street from me! (I don't have to wait to go to downtown Dallas after bars to get them anymore yay!) We (party of 9) went on a Friday night so you had to sign in on a waitlist and only waited about 30-40mins (was def worth it). The servers were really nice, quick, and efficient in taking our drinks and food orders. As busy as it was, we only waited about another 20 mins for our food. Horchata: soooo gooood, so cheap for such a large cup! Beef quesadilla: meat, cheese, and lime. Basic but good. The tortilla was soft but had a nice crunch to it. Tacos La Banqueta locations in DFW are some of our favorite places to go for tacos in the area. This Pioneer location has some issues and isn't my favorite, although it still hits the spot every time I have a taco craving. They're usually pretty busy and get a lot of takeout orders, although they're usually quite quick and can prepare an order if you call it in within about 15-20 minutes. This is one of the more spacious locations, with a sizable dining area if you are staying to eat. We haven't eaten inside recently and get it to-go due to Covid, but they were usually quick and friendly with the service. You have to go up to the cash register at the front to pay, even if you dine in. A little inconvenient, but not a big deal. The main little issue that I have is with the tacos. We love to order the tacos and gorditas from Tacos La Banqueta. They taste really good and are some of the best tacos you can find in the DFW area. The salsa is VERY spicy but goes great with them. Just make sure you have plenty of water available! The tacos are extremely small, however, and I've noticed that they tend to be stingy with filling them up with meat and other toppings. The location in Dallas, which we've been to a few times as well, gives you much more and really fill up the tacos. Combined with the fact that prices continue to inch upwards and now cost about $2 per taco, it starts to feel a little bit like it's not worth the money. We've stopped going as often, as the number of tacos that you have to buy in order to fill you up, considering the minimal amount of meat they provide, and the rising prices, make it a higher expense than it used to be. They also don't give enough salsa in take-out orders for the amount of tacos that you get! I'll still come to Tacos La Banqueta when I'm craving some delicious tacos and Gorditas, but perhaps to one of the other locations and not as often. I still do consider it one of the best places for tacos in DFW, though. read more

I met my aunt here for a late breakfast. She eats here frequently but this was my first time checking it out. We both ordered the Sopes Sencillos (simple sopes). They were pretty tasty, especially with the red sauce they bring to the table. They also bring a green salsa that I didn't get to try. The other food being brought out looked so good. They sell some very big tortas, almost a shareable size, gorditas, breakfast tacos, and other authentic Mexican plates that you'd expect from a traditional Mexican restaurant. I'll definitely be back to try more of the food. The food was 5 stars but I gave them 4 stars because the coffee was served out of styrofoam cups, which I find to be pretty wasteful. read more

Tacos la Banqueta is your typical hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant. They have Mexican plates, burritos, tacos, sopas, and gorditas. These are probably the best gorditas (in my opinion) in the DFW metroplex. 2-3 of their gorditas will have you full for the day. They don't skimp on meat or flavor. Each gordita packs enough flavor to keep you coming back for more. My personal favorites are Al Pastor, Asada, Lingua, and Cabeza. Each bite is filled with sweet, salty, and spicy Mexican flavors. The feta, crema, and lettuce, are creamy and cool on the pallet getting your taste buds ready for the next bite. The actual Gordita bread is warm and soft with a crunchy exterior. Tacos la Banqueta is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. No bells and whistles. Just really really good food. Do yourself a favor and grab a gordita from this place. read more

Honestly, this is some of the best (and most authentic Mexican food) you'll ever find in Arlington. The prices are unbeatable and the ingredients are fresh with decent portion sizes. I've only tried the gordiatas and tacos and sopes so far, since they're so delicious that I end up ordering the same thing every time I come here. Vegetarians can get the gorditas and tacos with nopales (cacti). You are what you eat, so nopales tacos will make you look extra sharp ;). If you're in a prickly mood, any of the food here is sure to turn that frown upside down. No lie, this place makes for great comfort food.
