UPDATE: Still the best place to get tacos hands down. However I decided to try other menu items and they're oh so good I feel like I've been missing out! The place was recently renovated as well, which makes the dining experience even better! I've come to like their gorditas and sopes. My bf really likes their tostadas and guisados in the red sauce. In case you didn't hear me in the back, this place is literally the only taco place that caters spicy salsa. We order from here in large quantities. I.e 30 tacos at a time or a whole catering. Nothing less! I love their tacos and tortillas here. Something about the way they prep the tortilla makes it so soft. I'm from Houston and I was nervous about trying tacos since I prefer street tacos from a taco truck. That's authentic right there. Taco Mexico is the only place I go to for tacos now. No where else is really up to par. They also serve other dishes here such as burritos, breakfast plates, caldo, menudo, nachos, gorditas, tortas and so much more. They also have refrigerated beverages. My go to drink when having tacos is fruit punch jarritos. It's a must. My man's go to drink is the fanta in the glass bottle. Something about it being a little less fizzy than the actual Fanta you're used to. As for the type of tacos they serve there's so many different types of proteins you can choose from. Most places don't carry lengua, Tripas, & fish. They also have a salsa bar on the side. The dark red one is really spicy. Which I looooove. Was headed out for a burger and saw this place close by and decided to try it, ordered the Enchilada Plate, red with cheese. Food was great, best Mexican food since moving here from West Texas. My spouse got the menudo, he was not impressed. After a week I convinced him to try the enchilada plate, he did and was surprised at how good it was. We both got the Fresas con Leche drink and that was delicious. The service was great, place is small and clean, great atmosphere and the horchata drink is also recommended. This place is literally less than a one minute drive from my apartment and I pass it daily. I stopped in today to grab a quesadilla & was pleasantly surprised at the broad menu. There's pretty much something for everyone all while keeping the Mexican Food touch. The business was clean & the cashier was very nice. I only came here cause Amigos tacos had closed, I had never heard of it but I was blown away. I had worked a double and hadn't eaten in a day so I got 4 flower tortilla tacos. Al Pastor, barbocoa, lengua and tripas. They came pretty fast. The al pastor was really good, the lengua was just amazing, the barbocoa was really good and the tripas was my favorite ever. I was white and thought Mexican was Taco Bell... till My wife being from Durango Mexico and little Mexico in Chicago south side had her mom cook for me!!! - it was so difficult to find really good authentic Mexican around here. This is my go-to place when I'm craving some real Mexican food or when I'm trying to nurse a hangover- their menudo is amazing. Everything is fresh and made to order. We just had lunch here and it was amazing . This is as authentic as it gets. I got a tripas, bistec, and carnita taco. They all taste delicious, although they are small, they definitely fill you up. I also got a chicharrón gordita. I prefer my chicharrón in green salsa but this was still satisfying . The best part about the gordita was the crispy fried tortilla. Rice and beans were good also but the beans lacked a little bit of flavor. The green salsa is the best of the bunch. The Pina and horchata drinks are pretty good also . Ordered carne asada street tacos on uber eats. The meat was not seared but had the texture of something stewed and chopped. There was no cilantro or lime with the street tacos. The "mexican rice" was flavorless. However worst of all there seemed to be a few small bits of some kind of curdled cheese like product in my pico. It was sickening. read more
