This review serves primarily to address the customer service aspect as opposed to the food. I've conducted a good amount of research into some of the best taco places and Tacos La Rueda showed up. After an exhausting week, my girlfriend and I wanted some comfort food to remind ourselves that life is short, so it's best treat yourselves (as everyone should!) We were stoked to get some hearty food prior to walking around Universal Studios. When we approached the register, my girlfriend simply asked for any recommendations since it was a new establishment we were visiting. From there, the cashier blatantly sighed after being asked a question, and followed up by not saying anything and then finally asked "what would you like to order?" I'm not sure what occurred - miscommunication, translation issues, etc? It wasn't very packed either, so in my opinion, the cashier should've been receptive enough to address a simple question. Especially from a business standpoint where that is the prime opportunity to "up-sell" or educate the consumer on what's good to order. It could've been a bad day or something, but either way, the energy seemed off from the beginning which tainted our experience. The food was good, but it's kinda hard to mess up carne asada fries (it might've tasted better since we were both STARVING). Just a heads up for any future consumers to research ahead of time so you can avoid the rude interactions! read more

I came here got simple burrito w cheese and it was small on top on the the burrito was super mild.Nothing special and came out to close to $20 and got the automatic Starbucks add a tip option.I would not come back to this weak over priced Mexican restaurant. read more

The quality of the food is really poor. The chicken on my caramelo was burnt and hard to chew, not my time of music and very loud it was hard to hear my husband. My husband didn't like his meal either and the carne asada was burnt and super greasy. read more

I had Tacos La Rueda bookmarked and decided to try it out. The interior is small but very bright and clean. They still have the Grand Opening banner up out front. Service was friendly and you order at the counter, the employee was fluent in both English and Spanish. The menu isn't too big, and only a few cuts of meat, but I was delighted that they had tripa. I have never had Sonoran-style tacos, and ironically I didn't order tacos but opted for some of the other unfamiliar items on the menu instead: caramelo (de tripa) and lorenza (de nopal). The caramelo was like a giant flour tortilla taco, and the lorenza kind of like a tostada sandwich. We also ordered a carne asada torta. The salsa and side bar was nice. We also ordered totopos (tortilla chips) for an extra $2. The totopos were made to order and super crispy, without being heavy and oily, definitely a highlight of the meal. I am very picky with my totopos! I was also excited to be able to eat the chips with fresh squeezed lime juice, just like in Mexico. We ordered two aguas frescas to drink, cucumber with lime and hibiscus. They were a bit too watered down for me, though still okay. Overall, food was kind of pricey, but taste was there and it was definitely super authentic. I would love to come back to try more off the menu, especially the menudo blanco on the weekends. I think Tacos La Rueda is one of the few places in the area that you can get flour tortilla tacos, and with good quality flour tortillas like in Northern Mexico and not the terribly processed American version. read more

Had seen this place on Instagram and decided to stop by since it was local. Very small not a lot of places to sit, but we were able to find a spot on the counter. We ordered an Asada, chicken, pastor and tripas taco. The tripas was our absolute favorite. Not only is it hard to find tripas but also very hard to find good tripas. I know my boyfriend has been back to get those tacos after we initially went. Not a fan of the chicken, but the pastor and asada were also very tasty. Service was good. Fresh flour tortillas!! The texture of these tacos are amazing, the tortillas remain pliable and slightly chewy without any cracks, even when it's cold! The meats are flavorful, and respectable portion sizes. The salsas are fresh and spicy, without being overly sour or astringent. Will come back to try more items! BEWARE This place royally sucks a donkeys a I went in for a bite of a carne asada burrito and I bit into a big fat nerve un-chewable bad meat quality,,, I ordered 1 burro aflovorless pineapple drink and I grabbed some crusty nasty little empanadas todas tiezas de adentro. You guys should be embarrassed selling food for the price the food should be top notch amazing quality, for three items I was charged over $40 dollars which tbh I would gladly pay for amazing food. Caramelo de al pastor is very good. It's way bigger than I expected. And it's just the right amount of spice. My hubby would definitely order this again! The La Rueda fries were really good. The guacamole is the best! I'm not a fan of guacamole but this definitely changed my mind. I obviously couldn't not finish this all. The papa loca was good. The tacos and food here are are absolutely delicious. Plenty of meat is stuffed inside their tacos which is much appreciated. Their quality is also above average no matter what meat you choose. The carne asada fries are a massive portion that you can share with more than one person. Staff is friendly and helpful when you order. The inside is clean, organized and their salsa bar is on point! Omgoodness! This place is so so good! Husband and I were driving around and stumbled on this place. We ordered the papa loca with carne asada and the Caramelos which are like quesadillas with cabbage, guacamole, salsa, Anaheim Chile and your choice of meat. I chose asada and these were so good I'm already planning my next visit lol we came in after the football game so it was pretty busy but with good reason and service was still pretty fast. This taco place was exquisite .. I like every Californian loves a good taco place. I will say I am not from the area but was in search of tacos while in this city. They were absolutely heavenly I had 4 asada tacos with flour tortilla, and if you know tacos from mexicali or Sonora they use flour tortillas and are a must!! Only tried a few tacos here so far but I'm hooked! The flour tortillas here are thin but really good texture, highly recommend. Tried the al pastor, asada & tripas and all 3 were very flavorful and cooked to perfection. The tripas were very crispy & had a nice smoky flavor. I'm already looking forward to going back for more!! At first I thought 3 tacos wouldn't be enough (as usually I get 5 street tacos) but they were very satiating as they pack a lot of protein in each taco, definitely worth the $3 per taco price. Also service was super friendly & quick. It is a smaller restaurant and when we went it was a full house. We got ours to go and the food was ready within 5 minutes. Imagine sinking your teeth into a flour tortilla (which surprisingly reminded me of a buttery roti in terms of chew), an Anaheim chile with a cheese crust, creamy frijoles puercos, and a substantial layer of carne asada (with a delicious char) and tripas (an on-a-whim add on that was an absolute crunchy triumph).
