My mom has lived in Flagstaff since 96 and lis altos was always our go to Mexican food. We went there today. My husband's menudo was cold. My mom's 2 item combo looked like a kids meal. My husband asked to exchange his tortillas for fresh warm ones and they said they would have to charge us. No! We will not ever return. We didnt even get free chips and salsa with our 50 dollar meal. I literally crave their 6 rolled beef tacos with guacamole, lettuce, and cheese! Perfect with their pico de gallo. They have the best crunch to them! Another favorite is the menudo! Served with limes, onion, cilantro, and tortillas! Amazing!! My 8 year loves getting their hard beef tacos with rice and beans. The Aguas Fresca is my favorite drink. I usually ask for the "strawberry drink" if I forget the name. High recommend! They modeled and their seating inside is nice and their restrooms are clean! read more

Ordered the chicken fajitas because the picture showed large, non-shredded pieces of chicken. When the dish arrived, the chicken was shredded, most likely the same chicken they use for tacos. Normally that would be fine, but it was very dry and unseasoned . I really need to stop coming here. Pretty misleading. read more

The food was just ok this time. Very salty. What the hell is up with no chips? Why are some Mexican restaurants doing this? My meal cost $24 and then they wanted another three bucks for chips pretty stupid. At least give you a little handful on your plate for the $24 you just spent. read more

Worst place ever. When I got home and opened my meal there was a bite taken out of one of the tacos. It wasn't until after I had a few fork fulls of rice and beans that I saw this. We absolutely love the food at this restaurant and the service is very good. Only drawback is that they ask you if you want to leave a tip in the drive thru if you're paying by card and it's very uncomfortable. Especially since there is no reason to tip in a drive thru. I wish they would stop doing that. read more

Just passing through town. It was the closest and best rated location for tacos. I had a shredded beef taco a la carte and three rolled tacos. Everything was good. The taco had a fresh fried shell which I love. The guacamole on the rolled tacos was minuscule and the quantity of beef in the rolled tacos was less than I hoped for. This meal cost $15. I'm glad i ordered an extra taco because three rolled tacos and beans and rice wasn't enough food. The portions seem small. I think this place is fine but if I were in town I'd try somewhere else. Nothing bad about my experience or the quality of the food. Would prefer more food for $15. read more

TERRIBLE, as others say, "the worst place ever"...for real. Carnitas plate for $15 = dried out pork and beans with nothing on top - no lettuce, no tomatoes, no onion or cheese - CHEAP! But the owner drives brand new souped up trucks and Jeeps. And the DRIVE THRU always asks, "would you like to leave a tip". Jacked up. Never again, I work too hard for my money to support this guy. Always good food but the worst guacamole ever! Don't waste your money on the guacamole. It's a runny paste. I Just can't believe how good the food is and how bad the guacamole is. Did I mention not to waste your money on the guacamole? Tacos las altos, Seriously get better guacamole to match your delicious food!!! I still gave them 5 stars because the food deserves it but that guacamole is crap. I am just so mad at myself because I've known this for years, yet I still wasted my money on it the other day. This used to be my favorite Mexican food place. But they have gotten so skimpy on the cheese. Today I got a bean and cheese burrito and I have gotten more cheese on a Del Taco Value Taco. I've complained so many times that I'm tired of being disappointed. I also hate that you go through the drive-thru and they ask if you would like to leave a tip. For what? You took my money and handed me my food. You didn't wait on me at a table and take my order, didn't bring me a drink and give me refills, didn't bring me chips or salsa and check how I was doing. This is THE spot for breakfast burritos. We are here once or twice a month and they never disappoint. Huge burritos packed with quality ingredients. A bit pricey of a breakfast for our family of six, but they are definitely worth it. Drive thru is a bit tight, and fresh food takes a little time, but they are amazing so we happily squeeze through and wait. Highly recommend checking them out! read more

I stopped for lunch here yesterday. I've been eating here occasionally for a few years and I love this place for their tasty burritos, tacos and other offerings. The food is always delicious with fresh ingredients. I'm slowly making my way through the menu and am always finding new favorites. Today I tried the chile rellenos meal and it's my newest favorite. The batter was fried to perfection and was still crispy. The red sauce was nicely spicy and flavorful. The rice and beans rounded out the whole experience. Tacos Los Altos was established in 2005, owned by Lilliana and Javier. Later sold and improved by the Rodriguez family. They have added more homemade flavoring. Since then TLA has been Flagstaff's best. We are considered a fast food restaurant, but come try for yourself; you'll taste the difference. After eating next door for a lunch, we saw the signs all over MartAnne's claiming they are "The…read moreHouse That Chilaquiles Built!" We were intrigued enough that we visited MartAnne's the very next night for dinner. That was on a Tuesday at around 6PM and it wasn't too busy the entire time we were there. House Horchata ($5.99) - This drink comes in a giant 32 oz Ball jar with tons of ice. Per the server it's made with milk and condensed milk, no rice milk at all. It's rich, thick, creamy, sweet, filled with earthy notes of vanilla and cinnamon. There's so much spice included that at some points, there's almost a gritty feeling while drinking. It's perfect for a hot day after hiking. Buckwheat Pancake ala carte ($4.99) - Buckwheat pancakes are something we've never seen before on a diner menu in the past. It seems to be pretty common around Arizona, so we had to give it a try before leaving Flagstaff. This one's pretty big, almost plate sized. It's really moist, fluffy, bouncy, and light with a slight sweetness and a certain earthy flavor. It's moist enough that it sticks to the ceramic plate it's served on. The pancake is somewhat crumbly due to the low gluten content of buckwheat, although I believe they use a mix of buckwheat and wheat flour to give some more stability. It's bluish grey in color with black specks of ground buckwheat throughout. It's dusted with powdered sugar, but it's not a ton, making the pancake not really sweet at all. The pancake comes with a small cup of their cinnamon honey butter. It's not mixed that well, leaving it mostly unhomogenized with streaks of honey and spice through the softened salted butter. Tamale ala carte ($4.99) - MartAnne's offers two types of tamales - the first a red chile beef, and the second a green corn and cheese. We went with the latter, which is a homemade tamale with a somewhat looser, coarsely ground masa shell surrounding an interior of yellow sweet corn kernels, a bouncy and somewhat spongy block of Oaxaca cheese, and a fragrant green chile. There's a slight sweetness throughout and the tamale overall is easy to eat. Chilaquiles, Xmas, Fratelli ($17.99) - This is a monster sized plate of a mishmash of ingredients. There are three things as essentially a base layer. Firstly some Mexican rice that's tender, moist, and fluffy, totally unlike the more common dry and and compact version. My guess is that they skip the initial frying step that helps keeps the starch together. It's quite fragrant and has gives a bit of heat. On top of the rice is a layer of hash browns. The potatoes are tender on the interior, griddled on one side to give a delightful crunch, although there's some acridity that develops. Another third of the plate is covered with chili beans - tender pinto beans that are well salted and seasoned. Then there's the eggs stuffed in between layers of corn tortilla chips, smothered with sauce. I went with the Christmas combination of red and green sauce, followed up by the Fratelli-style pork green chile. The green sauce is fragrant and vegetal, while the red sauce is more smoky. The pork, which is cut into chunks, on top is a bit tough and dry but there's more than enough sauce to make up for that slight demerit. Finally, there's a small mound of I believe jalapeno peppers, cut into small neon-green colored pieces. Some pieces are spicy, some are mild, all have a vegetal pepper taste. I found the food at MartAnne's to be pretty good. It definitely hits the spot after hiking all around the area for most of the day. Bathrooms - Two individual rooms, one for men, one for women. Note: MartAnne's charges a 3.5% credit card fee. This is labeled on the menu.

Their pizza crust is some of the best in the western U.S. I love the convenience of enjoying Pizzicletta at Dark Sky, but I think we'll be coming to this location from now on. After eating next door for a lunch, we saw the signs all over MartAnne's claiming they are "The…read moreHouse That Chilaquiles Built!" We were intrigued enough that we visited MartAnne's the very next night for dinner. That was on a Tuesday at around 6PM and it wasn't too busy the entire time we were there. House Horchata ($5.99) - This drink comes in a giant 32 oz Ball jar with tons of ice. Per the server it's made with milk and condensed milk, no rice milk at all. It's rich, thick, creamy, sweet, filled with earthy notes of vanilla and cinnamon. There's so much spice included that at some points, there's almost a gritty feeling while drinking. It's perfect for a hot day after hiking. Buckwheat Pancake ala carte ($4.99) - Buckwheat pancakes are something we've never seen before on a diner menu in the past. It seems to be pretty common around Arizona, so we had to give it a try before leaving Flagstaff. This one's pretty big, almost plate sized. It's really moist, fluffy, bouncy, and light with a slight sweetness and a certain earthy flavor. It's moist enough that it sticks to the ceramic plate it's served on. The pancake is somewhat crumbly due to the low gluten content of buckwheat, although I believe they use a mix of buckwheat and wheat flour to give some more stability. It's bluish grey in color with black specks of ground buckwheat throughout. It's dusted with powdered sugar, but it's not a ton, making the pancake not really sweet at all. The pancake comes with a small cup of their cinnamon honey butter. It's not mixed that well, leaving it mostly unhomogenized with streaks of honey and spice through the softened salted butter. Tamale ala carte ($4.99) - MartAnne's offers two types of tamales - the first a red chile beef, and the second a green corn and cheese. We went with the latter, which is a homemade tamale with a somewhat looser, coarsely ground masa shell surrounding an interior of yellow sweet corn kernels, a bouncy and somewhat spongy block of Oaxaca cheese, and a fragrant green chile. There's a slight sweetness throughout and the tamale overall is easy to eat. Chilaquiles, Xmas, Fratelli ($17.99) - This is a monster sized plate of a mishmash of ingredients. There are three things as essentially a base layer. Firstly some Mexican rice that's tender, moist, and fluffy, totally unlike the more common dry and and compact version. My guess is that they skip the initial frying step that helps keeps the starch together. It's quite fragrant and has gives a bit of heat. On top of the rice is a layer of hash browns. The potatoes are tender on the interior, griddled on one side to give a delightful crunch, although there's some acridity that develops. Another third of the plate is covered with chili beans - tender pinto beans that are well salted and seasoned. Then there's the eggs stuffed in between layers of corn tortilla chips, smothered with sauce. I went with the Christmas combination of red and green sauce, followed up by the Fratelli-style pork green chile. The green sauce is fragrant and vegetal, while the red sauce is more smoky. The pork, which is cut into chunks, on top is a bit tough and dry but there's more than enough sauce to make up for that slight demerit. Finally, there's a small mound of I believe jalapeno peppers, cut into small neon-green colored pieces. Some pieces are spicy, some are mild, all have a vegetal pepper taste. I found the food at MartAnne's to be pretty good. It definitely hits the spot after hiking all around the area for most of the day. Bathrooms - Two individual rooms, one for men, one for women. Note: MartAnne's charges a 3.5% credit card fee. This is labeled on the menu.

I absolutely LOVE the food here. However, I went yesterday and I probably won't be back. I experienced the WORST customer service ever in my entire life. I ordered in the drive through and when I went to pay, the employees were just making salsa cups and making eye contact with me through the window but not opening it to talk to me. Completely ignoring me. It took them 5 whole minutes to finally ask for my credit card, and when I went to sign it took them another 10 to open the door back up again, the entire time they were making salsa cups. If they would have said "sorry your food will be out shortly" I would not have an issue. But absolutely NOTHING was said about the wait. You don't ignore customers like that. read more

Tacos Los Altos was my favorite Mexican place in flag. Emphasize was. I used to go there on a regular basis and have been spacing my visits more so in the recent past. The last three visits involved extra long wait times as well as absolute incorrect orders. There were multiple special request made due to dietary requirements, and none of those were met in any of those three visits. Unfortunately I tend to pick up my food via the drive thru and forget and discover the error when I get home. read more

Our favorite taco shop in town! We love the street tacos and the chimichanga. My kids always have to get a large strawberry agua fresca. The salsa bar is always loaded with many selections from hot to mild. The ambiance isn't the best, but the food makes it worth it. Prices are not bad at all for the amount of food you get. read more
