My family and I just had dinner at this establishment. The food was spectacular. My wife had the carnitas enchiladas. My daughter had the carne asada street taco plate. I had the California burrito. ALL of the food was absolutely delicious. I could go on and on about the quality of the food, but I won't. If you want to have an amazing meal, better move quickly because they are closing their doors at the end of July after many years of operation. The staff first said a drink on their menu wasn't available, then when we went to leave they were whispering about the drink to themselves and then said they could make it. I said no and waited for my wife to come out of the bathroom. When she came out they tried to give her the drink and charge her without me there because they were being shady. I said no we cancelled since you said you didn't have it available. Then the weird vibe lady said well the bathroom isn't free. I said okay how much for the bathroom? We chose to sit outside on the patio and it was perfect! We learned that this restaurant is family owned and operated which makes it even better, in my opinion. We inadvertently found Alejandro's Mexican Food restaurant while walking around, downtown Flagstaff. We were seated right away and provided with complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered the menudo and my daughter had an Alejandro's burrito. This restaurant took me by surprise! The chips were crispy, the salsa was fresh and tasty! I hate to write bad reviews but I'm here to warn others of just what I ordered.... Food was extremely spicy and we like spice... We ordered what looked to be delicious : 1. Aguachile it's a $25 bowl of SPICY watery salsa. Shrimp was VERY over cooked, rubber so we didn't eat more than one each. Which left us with cucumber, avocados and more limes than necessary 2.Birara Ramen was delicious and the tacos it came with were amazing, but the spice factor didn't allow for me to eat much of the soup. I highly recommend the Molcajete and the watermelon margaritas! The family takes pride in their restaurant and food, and it shows. I have a food allergy and they made sure they were careful with my meal. They put chorizo on the side for me and substituted beans with another serving of Mexican rice. I ate here back when it was a food truck and the cuisine is nothing special. It's typical greasy Mexican food. But more importantly, I'd like to take the time to review the "aesthetic" that this restaurant has which has kept me from wanting to go inside and instead picking most other downtown restaurants. When facing the front entrance there's a saggy bench that should be discarded and a random bubble gum machine to your left. The patio to the right has a random assortment of faded sad looking umbrellas and way too many weathered bar stools which should have been given more care with the harsh Flagstaff weather. But as you walk around the building you'll notice the strangest decor on all of the exterior windows. 3-4 repeating poster sized images of a woman smiling with her cleavage out holding a Mexican beverage alongside a German Shepard with tequila photoshopped next to him. I'm not sure what the goal here is...order a margarita and get the chance to look down my top? Not very appealing to the many families seeking a meal and nice atmosphere downtown. All of the downtown restaurants who are staples work very hard to maintain an appealing aesthetic and attract customers, but it seems this restaurant has had no guidance on the basics of curb appeal. Take some notes from successful restaurants or even get consultation and they may be able to hold onto this wonderful location. read more

We were visiting Flagstaff tor the weekend. We had been shopping downtown when e decided to take a break and enjoy the warm weather. I should have known this place would not be very good when we were given laminated pieces of paper as the menu. We ordered chips and queso and two drinks. The chips and queso tasted and looked like they came from Costco. The salsa was an odd color. The Bloody Mary tasted watered down and lacked flavor which seems pretty hard to do with vodka and tomato juice. Not to mention the service sucked. I'm giving it a two at because the food is decent. I will say this, the waiter and waitress were a charm. The Manager, horrible customer service skill. We asked for the Birria soup... there was no meat in my soup or my brother's I kindly asked our waitress and she was willing to get us some meat. The manager or owner whoever she is- sent her back to us and she told us we were going to get charged. So I kept showing them my spoon and soup so they would see there was no meat. The manager didn't even have the courtesy to get close to see what I was talking about. She kept talking to me from the corner. She had a rude face on and was upset. I maintained my cool and told her there was no meat in the soup. She proceeded to tell us it was going to be extra charge. I then said there's literally no meat. She stomped to the back and waitress gave us birria meat. I really do want to praise all the workers there because they're amazing! Her, not the greatest. This place was great! Our server was on top of everything and everything came out quick. It is a little small inside, but they were able to accommodate our party of 7. The food was amazing! Alejandro's is a lovely family owned restaurant in Flagstaff. We came in late morning to have a beer while we waited for our brunch reservations. We were told that the chips and guacamole are made fresh so we decided to get a pre-brunch snack. We ordered immediately and ordered our beer. Then we ordered a second beer. No chips or guac yet. We were told we were the first in for the day and they hadn't made the chips yet. We ended up having to leave just as they were ready so we got them to go. We didn't eat so I cant rate that, but we will try and hope it doesnt take a long time! read more

My husband and I had dinner here once and will not return for food. This is a good place to have drinks and people watch the activities on Heritage Square, but I don't recommend the food. I had the carne asada platter. The beef was thin, dry, tough and overcooked. The beans had no texture but tasted good. I used the beans to moisten the meat. The tortillas were good and came with cilantro, tomato and avocado. The restaurant offers a nice ambiance and was busy when we visited on the First Friday in July. The bar scene is good There are better bars and restaurants in downtown Flagstaff so we will not return. read more

The waiter took our order and shortly thereafter a woman brought out a plate for my dining companion, but not for me. She asked if I wanted to order anything. I told her I had already ordered. So it turns out that the waiter took my order, but didn't turn it in. It's not acceptable for my dining companion to eat her lunch, while I wait, and then for me to eat my lunch, while she waits. It's not having lunch together. I cancelled my order. The food was just okay, but the main issue I have with this restaurant is service. I was in today and decided to try this place. I ordered the House Chimichanga plate. I got my food and there is next to NO flavor in the rice, in the beans and the pork chimi really had next to zero flavor at all. The salsa that I got with it was nothing to brag about either.
