I was really excited to finally try Tacos Los Barrios since it's a fairly new restaurant and I had booked marked it. The space itself is big and has plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, which is nice if you're coming with a group. Unfortunately, the experience started off on the wrong foot with the customer service. The cashier wasn't very welcoming when we walked in. There was no greeting, and when we asked a few questions about the menu she answered with a bit of an attitude, which made the ordering process uncomfortable. We ended up ordering the birria family meal for $50.50, thinking it would easily feed a family of four or five people. Since menu has a birria meal that says serves 2-3 people $26.69 we figured the family one would be a double portion of that. While waiting, we checked out the salsa bar which had a decent variety....about four different salsas, limes, pickled jalapeños and carrots, pickled red onions, cucumbers, and radishes. The radishes looked like they had been sitting out for a while though and could have used some fresh water since they appeared dried out. The green salsa was the best out of the four salsas. From the salsa bar you can also see into the kitchen, where staff seemed to be restocking containers from what looked like the earlier rush. Kitchen wasn't the cleanest. When our food came out, the single bag it arrived in immediately made us question the portion size. The rice and beans were each in small 8oz deli containers, which honestly is a single serving rather than something meant for a family meal. I double checked with the cashier to make sure it was correct, and she confirmed that it was. For a $50 meal, those portion sizes felt pretty disappointing. The birria itself came in a 32oz container, but the beef was unfortunately very dry. The tortillas were also dry and many of them were torn, making them hard to use and digest. Once we got home I had to warm more tortillas up because again the portion size wasn't enough for a family meal. The cilantro didn't look fresh, it was darker in color and seemed old. The consommé had decent flavor, but the container was almost half oil, which made it feel like the fat hadn't really been skimmed off. We also ordered the carne asada loaded fries. Sadly, those didn't impress us either. The carne asada had quite a bit of gristle, the guacamole was dark, and the fries were slightly undercooked. It also seemed like there were more beans on top than anything else. Overall, we were really excited to try this place, but between the customer service, the price compared to the portion sizes, and the quality of the food, it was a pretty disappointing experience. As my husband said, sometimes you try a place for the experience....and unfortunately this experience just wasn't great. We're originally from San Diego and have spent time living in Tijuana, so maybe our standards are a bit high when it comes to Mexican food. But based on this visit, this spot just didn't hit the mark for us. read more

Don't waste your time. Meat is barely seasoned and soggy. They advertise things on their menu wrong they don't clarify their flautas are made of CORN when u order flautas they are flour no where on the menu does it say corn I triple checked before talking to someone and when u ask them about it they don't want to give u a refund at first until you look under their menu and no where on the menu does it say CORN. And when ur refund is given back to you they don't even give u the right amount back such a waste of time. Food needs salt. They don't know how to do math. Tried this spot for the first time last week and ordered a fish burrito to go. Unfortunately, got a wrong order and I received a shrimp burrito instead. I saw that after I got home. That said, the shrimp burrito was delicious! While I was a little disappointed not to get what I originally ordered, the food quality was good. Giving them 4 stars for the food. GOOD ASS TACOS!!! I seen they had 2$ tacos and 1$ jarrittos for cinco de mayo and just had to pull up. It was absolutely packed to the brim but after trying I understand. I got myself 2 asada and 2 chicken tacos. I'm especially happy with their service because even though it was cinco de mayo and hella busy my order came out soo fast and fresh!! We went for taco Tuesday. We each got the special and, I must say, these tacos were pretty good and not skimpy on the meat. They come topped with red onions and cilantro (price is $2.00 each) They have a salsa bar stocked with various salsas, cucumbers, radishes, and limes. We got the green salsa mild and hot...so good!! The place is fairly new and they have Hispanic music playing. There are also several TVs. The service lacked personality. No, "welcome in", "no, "is this your first time", and didn't direct us to either the drink station or the salsa bar. Perhaps she was not having a good day but at least try. The Craig & Rancho location in the North/West just opened and it is pretty darn good with delicious tacos and low prices. Besides tacos they also serve breakfast all day and also offer burritos, bowls, tortas, nachos, quesadillas, birria ramen, combos, and more. They have booth seating and a few high tops. They also have a small out door patio. I was planning to go to the Centennial Location but my husband said that this one is even closer. We found this place just by chance and it has been our go to now!! Northwest needed a great Mexican place and this is it! First of all the place is always clean, the staff is very friendly, and the salsa bar is stocked. Everything is made fresh to order, they aren't stingy which is so worth mentioning in an era when they count each little of piece of meat. Assumably a combo plate would come with some tortilla and maybe rice and beans; we were told the combo only came with meat....that took care of that option altogether. Then both of us ordered the loaded tacos (forgot what they called them) which included each of their meats, sour cream, avocado and cheese. We LOVE the carne asada fries from their food truck so we decided to check out the restaurant and give some other foods a try! Once we finished our meals (or at least most of it) we wanted to try their oreo filled churro! We've never had it before and we were so excited to give it a try. When you first bite into it, it's very much churro, but the after taste gives off Oreo. I'm excited to try their other Oreo options! I got a text from them with an offer of free 2 quesabirrias and a drink w any purchase along with their grand opening specials so for dinner we got carne asada fries for $9.99 along w my offer. We decided to dine in so we can eat our food fresh. Service was fast even though the line to order was long. Not a lot of room probably several chairs and tables and like 4 booths, salsa bar area was also very small so if there is a line you will have to wait for your turn. Food was good, I would say the portion at the food truck location was a lot more when we ordered the loaded fries and I don't know if it's because they just opened but the quesabirrias were on the dry side.
