Wow. I got four kinds of taco- carne asada, lengua, beef cheek, and carnitas. I am not 100% sure, but I think it was the lengua (tongue) that was just... absolutely melt in your mouth rich deliciousness. Thing is, they were all amazeballs. So good. So very, very good. These folks are legit. The radish, the pickled pepper, the little cooked onion, all add such lovely, complex elements to each taco. Man. I feel like I should have got more than four! The Taco Diaries / Entry: the 3rd / Tacos Los Primos For the 3rd installment in my continuing hunt for Bay Area tacos remotely reminiscent of the stunningly sublime tacos I had down in SD/ TJ, I remained within a couple miles from home & tried Tacos Los Primos. Technically, it's a taco trailer rather than a truck. It's parked in a lot right on 23rd. I parked on the street though there was plenty of parking in the lot. Arriving around 7:00pm on a Tuesday, it wasn't busy & there was no line to order. 1 of the 1st things I noticed was a paper-plate sign in the window stating tacos are $1 on Tuesdays. Woohoo! Taco Tuesday in effect! Again, for comparison, I got the same tacos as before: 2 Tacos de Cabeza & 2 Tacos al Pastor. For extra credit, I also got a Lengua & a Buche just like I had previously at La Flor De Jalisco. My order was up quickly, by far the fastest of the 3 Richmond taco places I'd been so far. There's tables under a pop-up for seating, but I took mine to-go. Back at home, I dove right in. The Cabeza (my favorite taco) tasted great but wasn't quite as tender as the Cabeza from Tacos La Raza, though completely better than the Cabeza from La Flor De Jalisco. I'd rate it 4 out of 5. The Pastor here was better than the other Richmond taco places, but still a far cry from the best Pastor I've ever had. Flavor & seasoning were better, but the meat was still a little dry. I'd rate that 3.25 out of 5. The Lengua & Buche tacos were both more flavorful & more tender than La Flor De Jalisco. I'd rate both 3.5 out of 5. Taking an average of what I ate, it's a hair over 3.5 out of 5. With $1 tacos on Tuesdays & the fastest tacos in town, I'll go ahead & round up to 4 stars overall. This is my number 1 taco truck choice i go to. Not only are their burritos affordable but they are also plentiful packed with the works! They also have steamed onions, jalapeno, carrots, and other vegetables to add with your burrito on the side. It also comes with their hot sauce which taste superb. I have a special place in my stomach (er, heart) for taco trucks. 2 bucks a taco and you get plenty of flavor and meat for your taco. They got plenty of meat selections. - Suadero is underrated and super flavorful. - Al Pastor is packed with flavor and enough fat. Those are my favorite meats there and the asada is plenty flavorful also! Their red sauce is really really hot sometimes and can ruin the taco. I'd recommend asking for the green sauce it's better personally speaking. I also love getting a 5 buck cup full of salsa to go and have at home for the carne asada at home! Yummy for my tummy! I love their tacos. They are flavorful and come fast. The price has been increasing, but is cheaper than the fancy $5 tacos that you find at grid events. I don't like like leaving bad reviews, however, I strongly feel they are necessary for one to make an informed decision. Although my dad loves these tacos, I find them very dry. The tacos have very little meat on them, and the limes they come with are dry and hard as rock. I can only speak for the asada tacos as that is the only meat I've ordered. The burritos have a very distinct flavor of what is probably too much cumin, which I'm not a fan of. In my very slender asada burrito, all I got was nothing but the fat from the meat inside, which was not very pleasant to eat. I would like to say, the staff is pretty nice. No complaint there, and I definitely enjoy their horchata. In the end, I would not recommend this place to anyone unless it's the only open taco truck late at night and you do not want to drive to Oakland for bomb tacos. read more

Hands down, the most legit off the hook taco truck I've EVER been to. I got the al pastor and asada tacos, it...was...heaven! I usually don't give 5 stars on yelp, but if I could, I would give this place 10! Taco tuesdays are $1 and they hook you up with cebollitos, chili pepper, radishes and lime. The salsa is spicy, but finger licking good. Beware, they do charge 25 cents for take out bags. They are the reusable kind, but I would bring my own bag next time. I've come here probably 50 times to get a burrito and there's never been any gristle.. I especially love the spicy salsa that comes with it! The people taking orders are always super chill, friendly and efficient and those making the burritos are fast and courteous. I would give five stars but I feel that it's a bit expensive for a taco truck... they recently raised prices and a super burrito is now $8. Also, they stopped having taco tuesdays, boo! As an Oakland native, I am particular about my street tacos aka taco truck tacos. I think the best Mexican food and tacos can be found in the heart of the Fruitvale district. I have been a resident of the Richmond area for almost two years and have yet to explore the taco scene even though my husband (a Richmond native) has told me all the great things about Mexican food here. I had a hankering for tacos and ventured out to the equivalent of the fruitvale area of Richmond, 23rd Avenue. It was a cold Wednesday evening and drove up to busy outdoor eating area in a fenced in lot. I thought it was funny how this place is called "Los primos"(male cousins) when in fact all the employees that night including the cooks were female, more like "Las primas". The tacos hit close to home as they were the right amount of flavorful, greasy, and tasty. Just what I was craving. I asked for 2 asada and 2 al pastor with everything on them, which included their mild red salsa. I don't know if I want to keep looking for the perfect taco in Richmond because I was fairly satisfied here. For $2 a taco, I will for sure come back. read more

Especially good when you can get one taco for $1 on Tuesdays. They're located in a vacant market lot off of 23rd Street. Pop up style seating outside of the trailer they sell the food out of. The #1 taco truck in Richmond and in my heart. I've been coming here with my family since I was a kid and the quality has remained the same throughout the years. Al pastor, lengua, carne asada, carnitas... It doesn't matter what meat you choose, their tacos are bomb. I used to only ever order their tacos, 'cause they're so good I didn't want to try anything else. But take a risk! One day I decided to try their carne asada burrito and now it's currently my favorite thing on the menu. (Make sure you ball out and get sour cream for an extra 50 cents lol) If you're in Richmond, it's definitely worth checking out Los Primos. I'm not sure how this place got such great reviews, but our one visit was a disappointment. Both the carne asada in the burrito and carnitas in the tacos were very dry. Hopefully it was just an off day for them, but my wife and I both didn't enjoy our food. It doesn't mean I won't give them another try though. Really love this place but not happy recently with the hours. They have been closing early and are closed on some nights when it says they should be open. Tonight we arrived at 8:30 and yup they are "done". What's up with this. Change the hours at least. It's annoying to crave your burritos and be denied. What kinda torture is that?!! read more

This is a decent place to come eat Mexican food. This last time I ordered a steak burrito. The size was pretty generous and the taste of the meat was great. There are numerous options of taco truck in 23rd st. But this one in particular has one of the best tacos in the area, and has a big parking lot. I will definitely come again. read more

This food truck is close to home and they had a 4.5 star overall rating so I decided to give them a try. They were easy to find. Plenty of parking. I got 2 al pastor and 2 shredded chicken tacos with onions & cilantro. They were delicious. I enjoyed the radishes and grilled onion too. The guy who took my order was patient as I had a couple of questions. He kindly put the salsa on the side as he was honest and shared it runs on the spicy side. I'm a low spice kinda girl.... There were 4 other customer ahead of me... but I still got my order within 5mins. I was pleased. They had clean outdoor benches and tables to sit at while I waited for my order.
